Troy Z.They came fast, within about an hour and 30 min for a clogged kitchen drain. He worked for an hour and 30 min, fixed the drain issue, but tried to cheat me on time. I had my nest camera set up though with him standing at the front door at 12:06, he comes and hands me a bill at 1:36 (after sitting in his truck for 10 min, and been done with actual work for much longer than that).
And then he tries to charge me for 1 hr 45 min of work. We go back and forth about the time for 5 min, with me showing him the NEST camera history with time stamps, and finally he relents saying he doesn't have all day to argue with me. I'm happy to pay for what you actually did but don't try to take advantage of me.
Shirmeen A.I would not recommend this service. First, making an appointment with them was difficult. The lady was rude when I was asking her questions because I was still understanding the process. And then they cheated us on time. They ""waited"" extra to see if there would be any more leakage from the changed valves and then made the excuse that they called two plumbers to make sure the work would get done in time and then charged me for the second one. This company is clearly just trying to make the most money possible without caring about the quality of its work and how it treats its customers.
My mistake for not asking if work was guaranteed. 14 months after installation of a kitchen sink faucet, the faucet loosened and fell off the sink. This has never happened in any home I have owned, ever. I called Phil Walz and explained the issue. They would not repair without a charge as their initial work was only guaranteed for 90-days. It seems a little suspicious to me.
mark p.Beware. They cheat you on time. Will charge you for cleanup. I have security cams and have the tech getting to my home at a time and cleaning up at another time and still charging me for all that time. At 55 dollars for every 15 minutes he took his time cleaning. Ended up paying over 500 dollars for a valve replacement and making sure a tub drain was working. Keep in mind the wall was already exposed. Buyers beware!
Great company would recommend to anyone. Honest and fair pricing. Love Debbie and Kim in the office, very helpful!
Kelly F.Wow! They charge 220.00 per hour! Be careful because what they quote you over the phone is not always what you end up paying.
Disappointing service work-- had Phil Waltz Plumbing out to the house to confirm and fix gas line piping that had an analyzer confirmed leak but plumber Phil C. was unable to locate the leak with his soapy water ( I asked him to please also check with an analyzer which he had not brought along). During his visit, he turned off my water heater and neglected to turn it back on when he was done nor tell me so I could take care of it. This led to cold-water-only showers for days (I did not suspect the water heater switch as the plumber had just been working right there) until I finally checked his work area and discovered his mistake a few days later. I asked him back out to the house to correct the situation and was hoping for an apology but instead he denied involvement (""it wasn't't me"") rover and over, then finally admitted that he probably bumped it with his ladder or possibly a knee. And he only offered a half hearted apology after I expressed my disappointment in his mistake, the inconvenience to us ( cold showers for days) and primarily, because of his lack of professionalism handling the situation after-the-fact. I will be removing Phil Walz Plumbing from my contact list as I was displeased with them as a contractor and would not recommend them to friends.
I've used Phil Walz Plumbing for two separate weekend emergency situations and have been very happy with the service provided both times. On both occasions, their tech (John) arrived on schedule, was polite and friendly, clearly explained what needed to be done, did the work efficiently, and the area was clean when he left. Most importantly, as a female, I never felt that I was being talked down to in any way. I also feel that the amount I've been charged was fair.
I highly recommend this company!
Edwin G.Competent for a simple job... but got charged $306 dollars for 75 min of labor... unbelievable.
Kelly H.I am so disappointed with the service. It's been six weeks, so I waited long enough to cool down before writing a review.
There was a minor gas leak in my basement, so the ComEd technician located the gas leak, marked the exact spot with tape, wrote out exactly what needed to be done and the parts needed, and shut off the gas. He said to call a plumber to replace the part and show them exactly what needed to be done, a minor repair. I called this company to do the repair, told them exactly what was needed, and then showed the serviceman exactly the spot. It was an elbow joint that needed replaced. There was no guesswork required. I was quoted a price of $153 plus parts for 45 minutes and an addition $51 for each additional 15 minutes of work required.
The serviceman did the repair and seemed to take his time, but I was relieved that it took about 40 minutes total. Then he went to his truck. He waited about seven minutes before bringing in a receipt, which was a form torn from a receipt pad that he had handwritten in the amount charged. He charged me for an hour. Apparently, I was being charged $51 for him to write out a receipt that should have taken a few seconds. I could hardly believe it! When the ComEd guy came back, he was shocked at the price I paid and, without saying it outright, pretty much indicated that I got hosed by this company. The rate was high, which I accepted, but the extra $51 charge on a simple repair is ridiculous.
Having had time to cool off, I will say that the repair, simple as it was, seems to have been completed correctly and well done. But I also value honesty and integrity, and I do not believe that the additional $51 I was charged was in any way honest. For that reason, I would not recommend this company at all.
