I do most of my own minor plumbing repairs but have used Petri exclusively for boiler/heating maintenance and repairs on a gas steam boiler for a four-story brownstone. Easy to get on the phone, prompt, reliable, competent and friendly. Highly recommended.

I suddenly had no heat. Petri showed up the next day. On time. Correctly assessed the problem and gave me options. When I agreed I needed work on my boiler chimney, he had a company to recommend and called them for me in the spot. He was able to explain the issue and that company showed up the next day. When they were finished the Petri expert came back - well after the workday was over, and made the fixes on my boiler. Excellent service. I felt fully informed and well serviced. Thank you.

Petri was prompt to respond and schedule an appointment. However, when scheduling they refuse to provide a quote or even a rough estimate when you describe the problem. Why? Because they charge a $100 fee just for showing up to give you an estimate that you have to pay whether or not you move forward with their suggestion. We called in for a simple wax seal repair on an otherwise new toilet (under a year old in a new construction). We had been experiencing some sewer gas smells. Petri showed up, took a visual look at the toilet, and then proceeded to propose an over $1600 job for a wax seal fix. They stated they needed to replace the valve, that we should replace the entire toilet (which of course we should order through Petri and not go out on our own to get). It was a classic, but very poorly executed upsell job with unbelievable prices for something that should've been a simple fix. So now we are out $100 just because they showed up. I do not recommend this service and we will be going to Task Rabbit to support smaller, more honest local professionals.

This is the type of plumbing company you here nightmares about. DO. NOT. USE. THEM.

I moved into a new condo and had issues with a noise at night. We called out Petri at recommendation of our property manager. What a mistake.

They came out and ""diagnosed"". Did not really try to understand issue and noticed that an expansion take was undersized that had been functional for 10 years. They recommended a one thousand + dollar repair. This of course did not fix the noise.

When we complained, they came back out and finally realized the issue was a check valve (even though I provided a video, which a second plumber was able to diagnose using). However, instead of recommending to just switching to a silent valve, they said they later told me they need to rework the piping - another thousand plus dollar repair EVEN THOUGH at the time they said they could just swap the valve. Our condo can't afford this repair now because all in we were looking at THREE THOUSAND PLUS.

I'm consulting a lawyer (working at a large consulting firm we have a free service). Initial conversations indicate the handling was horrible after discussing with other plumbers. While there may have been issues for the plumbing, Petri completely failed at what they were called for. Don't make the same mistake we did.

UPDATE: I got told the owner would call me this morning after apparently trying multiple times yesterday with the wrong area code. Then, after rescheduling my whole morning, no call! He refuses to talk to me directly. This lack of professionalism and responsiveness is insane. Stay away from these guys.

I communicated with Chris Petri over email and he was responsive. Jeremy was the technician they sent to handle a leak I had under my kitchen sink. Jeremy was friendly, communicated well, and got the job done without any issues. While I was hesitant at first to hire Petri because they did not provide a cost estimate before they came out, the final price ended up being slightly less than the other company I was considering. It was a good experience and I would recommend them.

I had an excellent experience with Petri Plumbing and would highly recommend them. It was late July and my central air conditioning system stopped working. I called the company that installed the system but they were unresponsive so I went on to Angie's List. I saw that Petri had very good ratings and I recall seeing their trucks in the area.
I spoke to Chris Petri and he set up an appointment for later in the day. I received two calls later in the day with ETA information. Then they sent a text with a picture of the person, Steven Berger, who could repair the system. He arrived on time and had on a mask; they are serious about Covid-19 safety. He diagnosed the problem as a malfunctioning capacitor. He had the part with him and replaced it. We were back up and running soon after.

Petri can accept a payment from a digital wallet and they take credit cards. I received an invoice a few minutes later.

During the repair, I signed up for an annual service contract for what seemed like a fair price, so Steven came out the next week and inspected the rest of the system.

It was a very good customer service and I appreciated that they use available technology to stay in touch with the customer.

I have to add to my previous review after seeing what Veronica posted. I also was assigned to Jeremy who was just awesome. Not only did Chris call to ask me if coming 30 minutes earlier was okay, I then got a text from Jeremy with his photo AND the most enthusiastic text about his love for plumbing and years of experience. He could not have been any nicer. Wore the PPE, showed me the problem, and fixed it in just a few minutes. I think also seeing Michael respond to my post should say something about the service this business provides. I wish they fixed freezers too (I already emailed Chris about this, they do not) but I know I will have them check out some other things I need looked at once I'm back in NYC more. Thanks again! I only support businesses I know are genuinely invested in their clients, and this is one of them!

Dealt with Petri Plumbing a few times. It's a local family owned business that has been around for years. I dealt with Samantha and she was absolutely wonderful. Made everything easy to schedule and understand!!

This was my first time using PETRI Plumbing and the service was great. Chris PETRI who was very pleasant on the phone called to confirm the appointment and also sent an email. They also sent a picture of the person coming so you don't have to worry about letting in a stranger. Jermey who came to fix the problem was terrific. He came wearing PPE which was great given the pandemic. He even changed shoe coverings when re-entering the house. He changed the spray faucet the same day and left the kitchen spotless unlike other plumbers I've had. I was extremely happy with the service and would definitely use them again.
