Cassy H.Fantastic experience!!! Fastest response time of any company we've used in AZ. Excellent customer service from everyone in the office to the techs that visited my home. Jimmy came out initially after our AC died and was efficient, informative, helpful, and friendly. The next day Sid & Tyler came out to replace our unit. Couldn't be happier with our service and highly recommend.
BEWARE !!!! RIPOFF COMPANY !!!!!!
We are selling a home in Tucson. The buyer or his agent sent Penguin Air out to do a furnace and a/c inspection. The agent sent us the write up and it said "" furnace condemned by SWG for CO leak"" then wrote up a whole list of bogus items. Gave them a $7,000.00 estimate to replace. We had a licensed HVAC company from Tucson go out and do a complete check. Was there for an hour and a half and everything tested fine. When he checked the SWG paperwork left on site it said ""furnace was left in off position due to no electric in house to start and test furnace. A TOTAL LIE BY THE SO CALLED TECHNICIAN !!! So the buyer gets nervous with two different reports and backs out of the sale... This company is a total rip-off Just trying to sell you things you don't need...
STEER CLEAR !!!!! Find a true reputable company...
We are looking into reporting them to the BBB and licensing board.....
Olivia R.Penguin air service my air conditioning in July 8 2018. My air conditioner was not cooling. I have an extended warrantee. The tech came out. First he told the work would be cover under warrantee. I thought he was going to tell would work needed to be done and the cost if any, He did not do that he told there was a leak and told it of 181.00. The problem i was charged $381.00 instead. I contact the customer service and explain that the price was over the top and i was told it was $181.00 The tech didnt tell me how many pounds of R-22 coolant he had to put , no one could tell me that when i called. Briana S one of customer service issue me a refund of $210.00, i have a emailed to proof i was issue a refund. It was issued on July 9 and but it HAS NOT BEEN PLACED IN MY BANK ACCOUNT!. I called three time to the customer service rep and emailed her. no response no refund. I paid for 3 thousand dollar for the unit its only 4 years and i paid one thousand for extended warrantee! I feel i am being taken advantage and ignored. They have my money ! now they want run! Beware! I am a senior and i feel i am me taken advantage!
I would have put none but the customer service was great. They sent a salesman not a technician. I soon learn they are paid on commission, but the salesman doesn't even offer to fix the problem... he wants to sell me a whole new unit or system. I ask if he can fix the problem and then of course he says ""sure"". He puts leak sealant and dye in and some Freon and we're on our way to cool. Well guess what, 2 days later its back to hot! In Ralph's notes he states that ""there's an oil leak"". Of course they keep record of the work that is done.
The owner ends up calling us since no one else seemed to care about the call we made earlier that morning. He assures me that a tech will be sent out and he will take care of our situation. The tech came out and pulled the fan only to notice an oil leak on the ground next to the coil. He proceeds to tell me that in order to fix the problem they need to figure out where the leak is so I go ahead and let him find the leak. In less than 5 minutes he tells me that he's found the leak and its $300. He fills up our system with Freon and gathers up the ac unit info in order to get us a new coil.
A couple of days later, customer service calls and says they found a coil and it will be between 24 hours and 2 weeks before than can get it installed. I am already furious with the way they run their business and start calling other companies. I had a list of 4 referrals from friends and family. All but 1 returned my call and was able to find the coil I needed and get it installed by the next day. The company I decided to go with says they wont charge a customer to run a leak test within 5 minutes of doing the service. They also got me a completely new ac unit for $500 more than the coil and I got a 10 year warranty.
I can not convey how terrible Penguin air & plumbing has treated me! I bought a new AC unit two months ago and it has broken down already. It has been a week and penguin air has not prioritized my situation they have complete disregard for the safety of myself who is a widowed disabled senior citizen and my special needs adult sister-in-law. I've had to now call out of work 2days now Monday and today with the promise of your the first one on the list for the morning. Well Monday came and went and no one from penguin air came to check my broken unit. My home has been with out ac for a week now. And this company has done their bare minimum to trouble shoot the issue. I have spent nearly $8,000 to try and avoid this from happening but this company has proven not to be competent in how they operate and conduct business. They have not prioritized my situation and put in one measly window unit to cool down 1,900sq ft home. They promised they would have my unit fixed for my surgery I have next week. They where made aware that I had no place to go stay while they ""fix"" the newly purchased broken down ac unit and made not attempts to place me in a hotel. Which I've had to rent out of pocket because my home is at a comfortable 95 at night. This is the worst customer service I have ever encountered and I will not be recommending them to anyone that I know and for anyone who reads this think twice before you seek them out. I will be posting updates till my ac unit gets fixed.
We had Terry Stone come by tonight very professional. Made my husband and I feel at ease. We've been very frustrated with our other air company that's come by stated the problem is corrected and then is blows again. Penguin Air came saw and was a simple fix thank you. Also wanted to say when my husband called to setup the appointment very, very polite and professional she was...wow
Whitney J.I have called on Penguin Air & Plumbing for the last 3 years and I'm amazed that every single time I have needed them they FAR exceed my expectations. Their professionalism, service, prompt response, knowledge and attention to detail is far superior to other service providers. One example of their exceptional service was tonight, a Friday night in the middle of summer when my family and I came home to find our AC unit not working. I called their number expecting to leave a message in hopes of getting an appt first thing Saturday morning. But to my surprise they answered and even at 9:00pm, they scheduled a technician to come get it back up and running as part of their normal service they provide. Ryan Franco was my service technician and he was very professional, personable, very thorough in explaining what the issues were and what the plan would be. Never in any of my experiences with this company have I ever felt that they were upselling me or telling me I needed something that I didn't. Sadly I've had that situation from other AC companies I've used previously. I have recommended Penguin Air to multiple people during these past 3 years and highly recommend them to anyone looking to utilize their services.
Will, the company owner has built an amazing team and formed one of the most well respected companies in a service industry. As a business owner myself, I am always impressed with companies who continue to excel year after year and who have employees that are so passionate about what they do. Thanks for all you do and have done for myself and my family.
New AC broke down twice on the day of installation. Never replaced the parts that they promised.
On the day of installation, the AC broke down for twice, and the blowing fan was scratching the cage/shield since it got loose. I called to ask for a new unit exchange, but instead got an offer of replacing the parts in the unit (circuit board, motor, & cage). I had an appointment and had to leave home before 7:30pm. the dispatch team agreed on doing the service before that time. Ralph came to my house around 6:00pm and worked for 1.5 hrs, but never installed the new parts. He just tweaked the old parts to make it work temporarily and said he need to leave. The service team then told me that he was going to wait for the next tech to come so that I could leave my garage door open. But the Ralph just drove away before the next one came. I then had to leave my garage door open with nobody at home. I had Brock, the next technician, called me and explained to him that I wanted all the new parts to be installed and he could send me photos of the old parts after he took them out, and he agreed on that (our call has been recorded). He never sent me the photos, and he just wrote ""replaced the board"" in the invoice, instead of all the other new parts. I confirmed with them to do the new parts replacement at least for four times, either by phone or in person, and they agreed every time. Yet they never did it.
After being lied to at least twice, it's going to be really hard for me to trust them and continue having business with them. I want no further business with them. They can come to my house and take back the units they installed.
To answer Tonya's comment:
I asked nicely even after Ralph made the adjustment, if they could install the new parts, and the answer was yes. I also asked Brock on phone if he could install the new parts, the answer was yes again. Yet they somehow ""changed their minds"" and didn't even tell me.
I made four phone calls the next day to get four invoices. Only one of them contains pictures. But that one was just the pictures taken for the initial installation, not the one I asked the technician to take.
Update:
Jason is the only reason they can get at least one star. He came the other day to inspect the AC, and he took good care of my unit. But it turned out that there was an over current in the motor. Unlike Tonya's reply, it was NOT fixed, the old part was NOT functioning, and the motor NEEDS to be replaced. Ralph and Brock could have replaced the old part on the previous service and avoid all these. Now Jason had to run back to Phoenix to get a new motor anyway. And Tonya is telling me based on ""their judgement"", the old part can still be used. It is NOT true!
John C.Not having a relationship with a plumbing business I googled ""drain clogged"" when I experienced a kitchen sink problem and 4 business popped up to the top. I knew these were paid ads but all touted a special price. I logged onto the BBB site. The first one was known to the BBB but not a member. The second was rated A-. The third, Penguin was rated A+ so I called them and mentioned the $49 offer. The lady said yes, that is true and if they can't do it for that much I would be informed in advance with the right to walk away.
I agreed and was told I'd be contacted when the plumber was en route. It took only about 20 minutes to receive in my email inbox the name and picture of the technician assigned. About 15 minutes later Larry M called to say he was on his way. So far so good.
Upon his arrival he was very personable and friendly. He performed an assessment of my situation to determine the best way to solve my conundrum.
He never seemed in a hurry to finish and leave and that confirmed for me he would do a quality job. He explained everything as he worked. We talked about the pitfalls of old plumbing and ways to identify issues and other services which were available. He didn't pressure to buy these additional services and that means a lot to me.
When the job was done my charge was...... $49. I am very pleased with my initial contact with this company and Larry. I am seriously considering the additional services he suggested to know for certain the condition of my 48 year old drains and plumbing.
Even if I don't move forward with those other services right away, I now know for certain who I will call the next time I need a plumber and have put Penguin's number and Larry's name in my contacts for quick retrieval.
Overall an excellent first experience with this company.
I used Penguin several years ago to install a new unit in my daughter's home. Because I had a couple issues with installation, the owner gave me 3 years free maintenance on the unit, which I've now used. Based on my past experience, I called them to do a ""tune-up"" on another property to make sure that it was working for the season. The tech came out, presented me with an estimate for $4000. for repairs, or of course, I could purchase new units. Since I'm selling the home, I was't willing to follow either course. I followed the tech to the truck and asked him if he had actually performed a ""tune-up."" He stated that he did what he was supposed to do, which looked like taking pictures and giving me an estimate. He didn't tune-up anything. I called an independent company with great reviews, and he laughed at the estimate that I was given. He said that I didn't need half of the items on the list, and the pricing for relevant items was ridiculous. I now have his number in my phone instead of Penguin. It certainly pays to get more than one estimate.
