I'll make this short;

I had a problem with my AC late in the season early in the fall. After seeing Parrish at my next door neighbors house a few times I got a referral from them. A tech from Parrish comes out and after telling me I needed at least $1500-$2000 worth of maintenance work on an 8 year old system, tells me he can fix my immediate problem for $350. I tell him to go ahead and fix the issue but I am going to take pictures and show the work order to a trusted HVAC person I know - FYI he was on vacation at the time. After he's done he then tells me to tell my other HVAC person ""You had to pay what you had to pay"".

After talking to my trusted HVAC person, it turns out the part cost Parrish less than $50 to purchase and should have cost me more than $150 to install.

A few days after getting this information I called Parrish customer service and explained my issue. After a 10 minute run around I was told a ""manager"" would call me back. Three calls and two week of effort later and I NEVER heard from anyone at Parrish.

This was 3 months ago.

Thanks Parrish!

Dishonest company and bad services. Don't use them!

They are incompetent but refused to admit it, instead they tell lies and find excuses to get you to pay more to re-do the entire job instead of trying to to do the right repair.

It has been a month since I first contacted this company for a repair. Parrish has called to reschedule my appointment 3 times now, each time pushing me a week back. Today they called and it was yet another week. I am stuck using this company because HSA home warranty does not have any other approved contractor in this trade. I hope the service is better than their scheduling because it is terrible.

I have paid Parrish to fix my A/C unit and perform annual maintenance on my gas fireplace. They fixed my A/C unit and it only took a week, but they left my house and damaged the fireplace adjust screw causing a gas leak. The next day my wife smelled gas and we called them back. They admitted their mistake but now want me to buy a new fireplace unit and after now a couple days no manager is returning my calls or emails. I'm going with another vendor from now on. Mistakes happen, but causing leaking gas into a house and not returning my calls/emails is unacceptable.

To be blunt, these guys are crooks. Like others, I had great service for my first few visits, but the final straw was trying to charge us $2000 to fix a 3 year old unit that THEY installed. A 2nd opinion found that the valve seals were not sealed properly (likely on install), and a 2nd opinion vendor took 2 hours to check our entire system and $104 to 'seal' the seals. It was mentioned that it's not an uncommon practice for some companies to 'install' things this way.

My belief is that Parrish now operates on the ""let's try to rip off all those people who live within the beltway"" plan. Call them if you want, but don't be one of these idiots that just signs off on whatever they suggest. Watch what their tech does. When he spends an hour outside and you watch him talking on the phone for 45 minutes, you'll be more aware of how much time they actually put into your issue. I went back and reviewed every spring/fall service I got on their 'service plan' and couldn't find 2 invoices that showed they reviewed the same items...in other words, they have no standards for what your getting for a 'spring/fall service plan'.

The final clincher was that they didn't offer us the Extended Warranty on the install, and refused to try to help us with that after this issue (again, unit is 3 years old). New vendor had no problem working with us to purchase the 10 year extended warranty through the manufacturer.

Don't be fooled by their Better Business Bureau claims, BBB is nothing but a glorified mediation business with ZERO power to cause a company to do anything and the BBB standards for how you get A+ makes Olympic athletes from China look like the pinnacle of ethics.

We have a maintenance contract with them. Recently we started experiencing intermittent issues with our gas hot water heater which is 8 yrs old. It took 3 days for a technician to come. He read the error code and showed us hand written instructions where it said the thermostat and pilot light needed to be cleaned. He did that with what looked like a stainless steel brush. He then vacuumed the debris. We left him alone for some time while cleaning. When we returned he started demonstrating to us how the boiler won't start regardless of the cleaning job. He told us we would need the whole gas valve panel to be replaced. The price we were quoted was close to $500 (parts and labor included). A deposit of 50% had to be made in order to place the order. He left with our deposit and a promise to call us the next day to inform us when he will be returning to install the part. He also told us to keep trying to start the boiler if we wanted to but how he thought it wouldn't start. The price tag kept us awake that night. Early the next morning I went online and started reading forums and an online version of the user manual for our boiler. Cleaning of the two elements was what seems to have resolved the issues for everyone posting on the forums. Also, this was the official recommendation by the vendor. Nowhere there was it mention that the gas valve control unit needed to be replaced. I then proceeded with several attempts to start the boiler by turning on/off the electric switch and observing what was happening with the thermostat and the pilot light. This is when I realized that I do not see any flame at all coming from the pilot light. I checked on the gas supply and voila - it was in an off position. Turning it on made our boiler happy and it started working again. I was furious. How convenient to turn off the gas supply and tell your customers they needed an expensive work done. I immediately called the company to complain and cancel the order. They were very quick in cancelling the order and ensured me that our check with the deposit will be simply shredded and not deposited. For their customer service I am giving them one star. Bottom line - if you need them to do any maintenance or repairs, make sure you have someone watching the technician closely.

I would not have picked this company based on the Yelp rating, but AHSWarranty sent them for a second opinion. This was actually my FOURTH visit and FIFTH appointment.

1-3) United Air Temps had come 3 times - sending a senior tech the 3rd time.
4) Four Seasons had an appointment and didn't show.
5) Parrish finally comes.

This guy did a thorough check, and figured out the problem: I had dirty coils.

This is a simple problem to diagnose. Unscrew panel, look at coils, see dirt.

He also preformed a leak test, which none of the other techs would do. Perhaps this is AHSWarranty policy dictating their behavior, but the test only took about an hour. Others have quoted me $1500 for the leak test -- wow, that's way too much. It's a $200 tool that they use to detect leaks. It shouldn't cost that much.

Meanwhile, he also diagnosed that my system was overcharged -- too much refrigerant. (Because the other companies did not check for dirty coils, and that can give false-low readings on refrigerant levels.)

Not only that, but if you have an AHSWarranty, their cost for cleaning coils is lower - $529 inside, $189 outside. (It's about double if you aren't an AHSWarranty customer, and another company had quoted me $800 and $400 on the same thing in the past.)

My guy was named MATT.

He was intelligent and articulate and actually knew what he was doing. He would answer questions that I asked, so that I was able to understand what was happening as it happened. It was a totally different experience from the last guy.

Maybe some of the other bad ratings here are for other Parrish Services technicians, but MATT was stellar.

--

UPDATE: Matt came back and cleaned our coils. It was even cheaper than we thought it would be, because we did an in-place cleaning.

It stopped being hot and we barely used our system after the coils were cleaned. It SEEMED like it was better, but it may have just been the weather cooling off.

Fast forward to the first cold day in October: Our unit is screeching, and only emergency heat is active.

10/22: We have Parrish come out AGAIN . Technician R Shipe. Removed excess refrigerant, 4-way valve was being bypassed in heat mode, after activating defrost control board.

I guess my question is -- why were these things not checked out before?

It then got warmer again, so we still haven't tested the heat yet. Basically, I'm not 100% sure this system has ever been fixed right. I'm not sure if the great priases I had early are still applicable or not. Matt did say something else would go wrong, so he called it... I guess the question is why can't these things all be checked out at once? Why did R. Shipe have to find things Matt didn't?

I don't know. It could be something I don't understand, and I'm not trying to be a jerk about it. I just feel unease about the whole system. It's a Ruud, and Ruuds suck -- but they should still be fixable.

Its just as all the other reviews say... they give you a 4 hour window and show up after the window has passed. Today was especially awesome because they never bothered to call and when I called them, they informed me they had already visited. I assured them that was incorrect. I called to complain and the office assistant actually argued with me. They have no customer service skills. And oh, just like other reviews, the technicians speak jargon but don't really do anything, then you get charged. The only reason this company is in existence is because the home warranty services force them upon you. I'll be taking that up with them. And I will also be setting up a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

We have used in the past and where somewhat happy but not thrilled. When our A/C started acting funny over the past heatwave we called them out again. Service tech spends a lot of time talking ""tech"" and seems nice of enough. Puts in one pound of freon without telling us the price and then slides bill across the table for $199. WILL NOT USE AGAIN. Scam artists is what I am starting to think. BTW the next person said we did not need freon and that Parrish tech's are required to ""sell"" $900 of something everyday.

TERRIBLE COMPANY! DON'T USE PARRISH SERVICES IT'S NOT WORTH YOUR TIME OR MONEY!

We were told to use Parrish through our home warranty company. It is safe to say not only will we not be using them again, the warranty company won't either!

They kept giving us the run around on a part for our hallway bathtub. First they got the wrong part, then the warranty company wasn't sending them a new one, on and on! FOUR MONTHS LATER after getting the run around one too many times I put my foot down and demanded my warranty company let me use a different plumbing company. The plumber got here at 11:30 this morning and had it fixed by noon.

In another instance we needed them to come snake a drain that was flooding our basement. It was connected to the sink and dishwasher. The earliest appointment they could give us was a week from the point I made the claim. After a week of eating off paper plates with plastic forks because we couldn't wash our dishes. My fiance took the day off and waited around all day for them. They never showed up OR called to say they weren't coming. After I called and spoke with the manager he sent someone out the following day - I had to take the day off work.

If I could give them zero stars I would!!!
