Out of the blue we found the carpet between the kitchen and living room getting lightly but consistently soaked from an unknown source. Since there was only one logical water line that could run under that spot I figured we must have a leak under the slab. I was cringing at the thought of both the expense of the repair and of having somebody jackhammering concrete in the middle of our living room.

I called several plumbing companies and it turns out most do not offer leak detection services, just leak repairs. Looking at the reviews here on Yelp I found On The Spot Leak Detection was getting excellent reviews. I called them up in the morning, and Jon told me he could be out that afternoon, and quoted a flat rate of $295.00 for the work. That was already $100 less than than some other services with ratings not as good on Yelp.

John arrived on time, and before bringing in any gear did a quick inspection of the problem area. He said something to the effect of ""Relax, this might not be as bad as you think."" He went into the kitchen, pulled the refrigerator away from the wall, and went around the back. A few seconds later he said, ""Good news, you don't have a leak under the slab. The connection hose to the ice maker has a slow leak at the shutoff behind the fridge and is leaking water down into the wall, which is soaking your carpet three feet away from underneath.""

Then, he said that since he didn't really have to do a regular leak inspection, would I be OK if he charged me $125.00 to cover his time to come out. I was so relived that I was NOT going to have a $2,000 plumbing repair expense and I was completely expecting to pay the $295.00 he had quoted, so my day just got better still. What great service and integrity.

We were not sure what was causing the leak so we called a plumbing company first. They referred us to On the Spot. Jon came out a couple of days later and immediately found out the cause. He gave us good advice and left without charging! He is friendly and we like him! We will definitely call him again in the future.

The city informed us we had a leak in our main water line, so we began our search based on Yelp's services. We wanted someone to detect our leak, not a plumber, after being gauged by a plumbing company who supplied a leak detection specialist. While Jon wasn't available immediately, he honored us for waiting with a lower price. He also provided a referral as well as comments that were helpful in narrowing the scope of the job we were facing. We're fortunate to have found him and will use him in the future because of his honesty, integrity, and skill set.

OTSLD was recommended by our plumber after fruitlessly tracking with a shovel a leak that erupted in the gravel driveway of our older, remodeled house. Jon efficiently located the leak and when digging resumed, we discovered two sets of pipes in the location Jon had marked. The lower galvanized pipe, likely dating from the 1950's, was leaking from a deteriorated coupling.

The powerlessness you feel when you pull up to your place of employment and the entire parking lot is full of water cannot be described.

We knew it was a broken water main but we couldn't tell where. We called a plumber who recommended we call a leak detection company. I found this place and gave them a call. By the way, I could only find 3 such companies and this one was the only place that had any type of contact information and/or answered their phone.

They came out the next day and in about 25min they found the area that was the most likely spot for the leak. Which was no where near where the plumber had told us. This is an odd service to request and its expensive but worth it when you need it.

Sure enough we jack hammered it out and found the break. We did all the repairs ourselves but a break like this could cost you $20,000. Be warned.

Worst customer service ever experienced! Spoke to the owner, John, last Monday and scheduled an appointment for him to come out to my house two days later. I spoke with him again Wednesday morning and advised I would be home to meet with him at 3:30 when he arrived. I left work early to meet with John and he never showed, called, or sent a text to communicate with me. I finally called him around 6:00 and he said he was having car problems and told me he would call the following morning to reschedule. I never received a follow up call. I called AMERICAN LEAK DETECTION and they were out the next day to help identify my problem. Don't waste your time with ON THE SPOT.
