The city informed us we had a leak in our main water line, so we began our search based on Yelp's services. We wanted someone to detect our leak, not a plumber, after being gauged by a plumbing company who supplied a leak detection specialist. While Jon wasn't available immediately, he honored us for waiting with a lower price. He also provided a referral as well as comments that were helpful in narrowing the scope of the job we were facing. We're fortunate to have found him and will use him in the future because of his honesty, integrity, and skill set.

OTSLD was recommended by our plumber after fruitlessly tracking with a shovel a leak that erupted in the gravel driveway of our older, remodeled house. Jon efficiently located the leak and when digging resumed, we discovered two sets of pipes in the location Jon had marked. The lower galvanized pipe, likely dating from the 1950's, was leaking from a deteriorated coupling.

The powerlessness you feel when you pull up to your place of employment and the entire parking lot is full of water cannot be described.

We knew it was a broken water main but we couldn't tell where. We called a plumber who recommended we call a leak detection company. I found this place and gave them a call. By the way, I could only find 3 such companies and this one was the only place that had any type of contact information and/or answered their phone.

They came out the next day and in about 25min they found the area that was the most likely spot for the leak. Which was no where near where the plumber had told us. This is an odd service to request and its expensive but worth it when you need it.

Sure enough we jack hammered it out and found the break. We did all the repairs ourselves but a break like this could cost you $20,000. Be warned.

Worst customer service ever experienced! Spoke to the owner, John, last Monday and scheduled an appointment for him to come out to my house two days later. I spoke with him again Wednesday morning and advised I would be home to meet with him at 3:30 when he arrived. I left work early to meet with John and he never showed, called, or sent a text to communicate with me. I finally called him around 6:00 and he said he was having car problems and told me he would call the following morning to reschedule. I never received a follow up call. I called AMERICAN LEAK DETECTION and they were out the next day to help identify my problem. Don't waste your time with ON THE SPOT.

Great company, they don't take their detections lightly! My technician came out and did exactly what he was supposed to do, and assuaged all of my worries. Not sure that there's many of these type of companies still left in the world. If you need leak detection, there's no reason to look anywhere else!

Through the mywater.cityofsacramento.org site, I learned that there was a leak somewhere but it could not be seen by the naked eye. We did, however, narrow it down that the leak was somewhere between the main valve and the meter outside.

I called a plumbing service and they said that they do no have the equipment to locate the leak and referred me to On The Spot. I called Jon and within minutes he returned my call. He was working at a job and promised to call me back in the next 30-40 minutes to explain his pricing and process. As promised, Jon called me back in the time frame that he said that he would.

Jon came out the next business day and after some searching, he pin pointed the leak. I was skeptical because there was no wet spot in the area, but when the plumber came out and started digging, the leak was exactly right where Jon said it would be.

As Jon said, the leak was very small but just enough to cause trouble. Jon was great, professional and is very good at calling you back. I had questions about the description of the leak that he wrote on the receipt, called him, left a message and he called me back right away.
