I had a water heater leakage at night, so I yelped and found North Cal Water for water heater repair in Fremont. It was 10:10 pm when I called. I left a voice mail but didn't expect to get the call back until next morning. To my surprise, Gage called me only half an hour later. He said he is mainly doing water filtering work, not water heater repair. Now I remember I did hear this from his answering machine a moment ago. But since I yelped with keywords, I kind of skipped that message (my bad).

I said sorry to Gage, but he was very nice. He gave me the phone number of his friend who can help me with my water heater repair. He also helped me analyze the problem a little over the phone, and recommended me to call different people to get quote.

I think he is a very responsible and trustworthy person. If you treat your customers good (I'm not even his customer), your business can only go better and better. Thanks, Gage!

Ok, Here's the update about my water softener.
After the last call before I wrote my review in April, I wasn't giving too much hope for this business. But Gage was able to call me back the next day this time. (Yay!) This time, he showed up on time for his appointment. Explained to me well about the water softener and water filter system. And of course gave me a great deal! So I decided to go with him for this business.
On the day of installation, he again showed up on time. Installed everything and explained to me well. The service was great, we had a nice talk. I was very happy about my softener, RO system and was able to tell the difference of he water the next day.
On the side, Gage was able to help my dad for his water condition with a great deal too. And my dad was also very happy about his service.

Well, after all the nice reviews and the five stars rating, I give Nor Cal a call because I want to get a water softener. Gage did call me back DAYS after my initial call and message. Then he said he can come on the following Monday to check my water and give me a quote. Monday evening at 7pm (the appointment time), no one showed up. Called twice and left a message at my second call. No response. NOT even calling me back. 2 weeks after (today), I called again and as usual went straight to voicemail. I still wanna see if he will respond to me. I really would like to give him one more chance since he got a high rate here. But if I don't get any response back this time, I'll just skip this company and NOT recommending it to anyone. =(

After the holidays, my parents woke up to a big puddle in the garage. I was still at their place lounging around and enjoying leftovers so I made myself useful, hopped on Yelp, and started searching for plumbers with good reviews in water heater repairs and replacement.

I called three plumbers based on Yelp reviews. Gage was the only one to reply. He apologized for replying so late (it was an hour or two after I had left a voicemail), then scheduled a time to stop by.

Rather than taking advantage of the situation and trying to profit off of homeowner panic, Gage first advised us on how we could potentially try to fix the water heater ourselves. We asked him for an estimate in replacing it since it has served faithfully for many years now, and his estimate was very reasonable given what friends with similar homes had been charged.

The next day, he was at the house replacing the water heater after calling to let us know he was running late. He had someone come by and pick up the scrap metal, then cleaned up the workspace so it was spotless. There weren't even wood shavings from the new wood blocks he installed in our wall. He walked through how the new water heater worked, guaranteed his work to pass permit inspection, then gave us all the documentation needed for a PG&E rebate.

The water heater did pass inspection and now that it's been several weeks, my parents can say the water heater is working quite well, too. All in all, we recommend Gage as a locally owned business.

When our tankless water heater stopped working and started leaking, I did a quick Yelp search for well reviewed tankless specialists in Fremont. North Cal Water was one of two plumbers that stood out. It was already 6:30 pm, a time when most plumbers are done for the day, but North Cal Water lists their hours as 7 am - 10 pm.

I called and got voice mail, and left a message for Gage, briefly explaining the problem and asking him to call me as soon as possible. However, he didn't call back that night, nor did he call the following day. In fact, I still haven't heard from him.

Maybe he doesn't do repair work any more (although at least one recent Yelp review indicates otherwise). Maybe his hours have changed or are incorrectly listed on Yelp. Regardless, a prompt return call is the minimum requirement for any business, and North Cal Water failed that basic standard.

Gage did the water softener system and purification system for our home. The softener system was by Clack and purifier was by Vertex. We saw a huge difference in the quality of the drinking and showering water after the installation and have been very happy that we made the investment. These are quality products and Gage was able to offer them at much lower price (a factor of 3 to 4 difference) compared to than other ""bigger"" companies. He was very professional to work with right from the start and was happy to do whatever customization and additional work that fitted the design of our house and water system. We've since recommended this to our neighbors and they have also been very positive about the experience.

i just purchased a house in san jose and after we moved in we noticed that after taking a shower we would be itchy after some research we decided to install a water softner..contacted rain soft and got an 6000.00 quote..we decided to go on yelp and found gage from nor cal water,he came and gave us a quote of 1400-1700 for the complete system installed with all new cooper piping...we set up a time and date and he showed up and did the complete install in 6 hours he ran into some issues because of the old galvanized piping that our house has but was able to repair the problems...gage is very professional and his work is a+ i would recommend him to all for quality work at a fair price...also remember he is a 1 man operation and may not be able to answer the phone or call you back asap because hes working..gage is a very good period!!
i also wanted to say that after the water softner system was installed its like living the life of the rich and famous,the water feels smooth and does not itch your skin...total price for everything and all the extras to fix the old pipes for the price quoted......good job!!!
i had gage come back this week and install a drinking water system,came out perfect and at 1/3 the price of other companys....thanks again

Gage came by our house to check on our water heater that was leaking. He took a look and gave us pointers for fixing the pipe ourselves. He told us that we *didn't* need a new water heater and wrote up an estimate for exactly how much it would cost. Also, he gave us pointers for what to look for if we ever do find ourselves in the position of needing to replace it. It was refreshing to have someone be so honest and forthcoming (and selfless) with us.

Excellent installation (& purchase) of water softener & RO system with competitive pricing. Gage really know his stuff and does a great job, finding the best way to route out the draining water, fixing up the drywall and bolting down & stabilizing the tank if necessary, which not every installer will do. and he'll take the time to talk to you and explain how the stuff works.

Keep in mind that this is a one man operation and he's busy. If he doesn't answer his phone/email right away, it means he's trying to do a good install job for a customer and he'll get back to you as soon as he can.

Gage recently installed a water softener and carbon filter on our home. The setup was quick and the system is working great. No more water spots and better tasting tap water was the result. I didn't even shop his quote around because friends had told me what they had paid and Gage's quote was better. Gage is very straightforward and will tell you what you need, and what you don't need. It really could not have been easier.
