Gage is, quite simply, one of the best people we've ever worked with. Over the past 7 years, he has installed water softeners and filtration systems in our old home and current home. He is courteous, professional, diligent and does an excellent job. I would highly recommend him for any work you need done regarding water softeners.

Unfortunately, I did not have the same great experience as the other reviewers who gave them 5 stars. I have been trying to reach the owner for over a week now to schedule a free consultation on a water softener and RO. When I give them a call, it always goes to voicemail and I leave a message to return my call to schedule an appointment. It usually takes a while before I get a call back. The last message I got was to text them my address and day/time when I would like the appointment. I did that and got no response back from the owner, even after a follow-up text to reach out to me on the appointment. The whole thing was a waste of my time. I guess the owner wasn't interested in working with me. If it is that difficult to get a hold of someone, I would hate to imagine contacting them if there is a problem with the services they provide. I'll take my business elsewhere.

I wanted to wait before I gave this review, because I wanted to see what the service would be like if I had a problem with the installation of our water softener. First of all, the installation was first rate and I think Gage is a great guy. However, after about a month, there was no power to the system. Gage came by promptly to try to fix the problem. In fact, he came twice, because the first time temporarily fixed the problem (replaced the transformer), but the system failed again (i.e., the new transformer ""blew"" out). We couldn't figure out what the problem was, but we figured it was either the transformer(s), the wiring, or the electrical outlet. The outlet was a ways from the softener, so Gage had to cut the transformer wiring and splice another piece of wire between the split ends. The outlet also happened to be near the garage door opener motor, which may have caused a problem with the transformer (i.e., vibrations and/or induced currents). Anyway, Gage gave us another transformer (no charge) and we plugged this one into another electrical outlet closer to the softener and away from the garage door opener motor. After a month now (two programmed regeneration cycles), we've had no problems and the water softener works great. Throughout the installation and after installation service, Gage was prompt, patient, and courteous. I highly recommend his services.

I thought i left a review for North Cal, but not seeing it, this is an overdue review. He (Gage) installed a water filtration system for us. He is very knowledgeable, but very reasonable pricing. This year he came out and changed the filters for us. He cleaned the whole system and did wonderful work again, and again reasonable pricing. He is a one man shop so have to be a little bit patient for his return calls, but well worth the wait.

I've used Gage twice and once more recently as two weeks back. He recommended the Clack water softener. He came promptly and the installation was clean. He is very professional in his approach and his price is reasonable. He also uses quality pipes i.e. copper for the installations.

As many of people here say, Gage does not pick up the phone. True! he does not pick up the phone at the job site. But he returned my phone call in timely manner.
It was about two years ago, I called him and left a message for a quotation for water softener. Two days later, he replied (I am sure he got many calls and could not reply right away).
The quotation was great and reasonable. We were scheduled to install the softener and RO system. He came on time and worked the whole day for installing the system.
2 years have been pasted, the system was as good as the first day. No maintenance. All I need is adding salt. My house has water spotless glass after every shower. The shower has never been the same. The water taste is fresh and clean. Every time, we go travel, we feel dry after taking shower from the hotels. We are so happy to have this done with him.
Gage is a very nice person to deal with. He is honest and friendly. Highly recommend to contact him if you need RO filter system and water softener. You will not regard for the money you spend.

Long overdue review for Gage. He quoted us a price he thought was fair. It was actually lower than all other bids. As the rest of the reviews mention he is straight forward and honest. He has a easy going personality to work with. He cares about the quality of his work. It has been over a year and half and our water is still soft and it tastes good.

It's been 3 years since Gage came out and installed our water softener and RO system. Things have been great I occasionally test the water for hardness and comes back soft as expected. I've learned to change the filter on the RO system myself to just save some time and money, not very hard and the parts are easily found online. The majority of bad reviews is his ability to respond to voicemails and emails. My initial time reaching out to him was super fast and first time I was due to change out the filters on my RO system it took him about a week but by then I figured it out myself and he was very nice on the call. Once you meet him he's very laid back and maybe that attitude doesn't work for everyone and his call back but I'm here to review the quality of his work which is exceptional. He even took the time to take a piece of stucco get it color matched so he could paint the copper pipes to match the house.

If you want a water softener, you can go one of three ways:
- Go for one of the well-known water softener brands (Rainsoft, Culligan, Kinetico, Costco EcoWater), and get fleeced thousands of dollars
- Go for a box store brand (Sears, GE from Home Depot), and get a sub-par product
- Go for a quality DIY brand (Fleck, Clack, Autotrol), and get a guy like Gage to install it for you.

For me, the choice was simple. I wasn't about to pay Rainsoft $5,000 for a proprietary water softener (and then hundreds more every time I wanted it serviced). Nor was I comfortable getting an unreliable GE or Sears product after reading the online reviews. I wanted a Clack or Fleck system... unfortunately, I didn't know the first thing about installing one. Fortunately, I found Gage!

There are only a handful of guys in the Bay Area who will install and service Clack/Fleck systems. Actually, as of this writing, I know of only two -- Randazzo and Gage. I went with Gage because he was cheaper, but in this case cheaper doesn't mean worse. He did a great job securing the water softener to the wall, and even re-did the drain line that snakes across the roof of my garage, since the line was old and he wanted to save me the hassle of a service call should the line leak in the future. He even hauled away my 20-year old Rainsoft softener to the dump for free. Gage spent 6 hours in my garage, longer than he'd estimated, but even then what he originally quoted me for the work was what I paid.

After he was done, he spent a lot of time to explain everything to me and to talk shop. He's one of those rare home service guys who's honest, really knows his craft, and actually cares about the quality of his work. If you're in the market for a water softener, Gage is your guy.

He's not the best at returning emails and calls in a timely manner, but keep trying. The quality of the product and the money you'll save will be worth it.

Long over due review. Gage is great!!! We first had an RO system installed and a year later we had Gage install a water softener. On both counts and follow up filter replacements of the RO system we couldn't be happier. He's straight up honest, takes his time, and has great attention to detail. Don't get discouraged if he takes a day or two to get back to you. Believe me, it's well worth it. I'm just waiting for that water heater to go so he can install me a new one.
