Noel M.I've been calling MSK for over 5 years and will continue to use them.
I own a house in alameda and if you know bout these old houses they take a lot of work.
Second time calling MSK for my plumbing needs (different issues). Dominic was prompt, courteous and efficient. Even suggested that one of my concerns wasn't completely necessary so I could save $75. I opted to do it anyway to save a potential headache in the future but I appreciated him being honest and not trying to gouge me for every dollar. Top notch service all the way around!
Otney B.Still wonderful. Do you want to see a ""work ethic?"" HIRE MSK PLUMBING. He came by just to give an estimate on a new job, but we had a clogged toilet, that we couldn't plunge open. So he shoe-horned in clearing our blocked toilet, coming back at like 8 at night on a Friday to finish off, so he could honor prior commitments and also make things right for us. LOVE MSK.
I had used Dominic before and even though I had a
lower estimate, I thought I give Dominic the job if he matched the lower estimate. He agreed. Just as Jane D said, delays, didn't bring tool, more delay. Sorry to say, I can't recommend MSK.
Dominic fixed several problems caused by other plumbers. For the first time in many years, I have water pressure in the shower instead of a trickle--feels great! He and Kelly are reliable, efficient, honest and courteous. I found his prices to be very reasonable based on past experience.
Katy Y.MSK plumbing was fantastic. This review is overdue. I had a slow draining pipe that was causing water to back up every time I used the washing machine. Dominic came on a Friday evening and fixed it quickly despite car trouble and being outside in the rain. He and Kelly(?) were communicative, professional, and responsive. The quote they gave was lower than other services, they stuck to their quote, and their warranty is great. Thank you for all you do!
Great communication, pricing, and professional work.
I had a backed up sewage mainline to the street. It was easy to communicate with their staff and set up an appointment. Dominic went above and beyond and completed all the work for the price originally quoted (much cheaper than other drain services had quoted me). And they have a 30-day warranty on their drain cleaning work. I hope to not have to deal with drain/plumbing issues again, but if I do, I will most definitely be contacting MSK to complete the work. Extremely satisfied customer.
This is long overdue. Dominic was AMAZING. We were replacing our 1950s toilet that came with the house and only gave us headaches. He fit us in since we had guests arriving. Dealt with a few unforseen hiccips (our pipe had a dent, our toilet was missing a bolt or two, etc), while keeping us in the loop. Overall great experience- Call MSK.
UPDATE: **In response to the owner's reply to me, saying that I was fabricating this, I have edited a bit of this response. I do have a receipt from the job, so I know I paid a bit over $300. However, because this is a tenant occupied home, I had forgotten that the tenants also had the plumber look at something else. Therefore, in fairness, I do not know how much was charged for the toilet fix itself, or if there was a weekend surcharge. I only have the total bill (electronic, with no breakdown). I have deleted my comments about cost.
But what I DO know, for a fact, is this:
1. The toilet that MSK ""fixed"" started leaking again, for the same reason, a year later.
2. I now have wood damage under the toilet, that wasn't there a year ago.
3. Another plumber completely disagrees with how MSK ""fixed"" the toilet the first time.
4. I was told by MSK that the whole toilet flange had to be replaced ""because it was too low"" (not because it was broken)....and another plumber said that was NOT necessary.
I tend to believe the new plumber because the flange has been there for 15 years with no problem, as long as the wax rings are properly installed.
These are facts.
Also, for the record:
5. I have no reason to be fabricating anything about a plumber. I have better things to do.
6. MSK replied that he is suspicious about the validity of my reviews because I wrote another plumbing review a month ago. FYI: that plumbing issue was AT A DIFFERENT HOUSE that I also own, and I gave that plumber 5 stars. So I am not here trying ""to viciously attack"" plumbers! I've had a lot of plumbing issues, and it is very frustrating finding good help. So I write reviews either when I have an extremely good experience, or a very bad one.
7. I'd have been more impressed if MSK had just written ""sorry your toilet started leaking again, please give us another chance to make it right"" rather than accusing me of fabricating stories about their service.

This review has something rather important in plumbing: FOLLOW-UP. And, unfortunately, it is NOT good followup.
MSK Plumbing fixed a leaking toilet in my 1930s house about a year ago. The problem was due to a degraded wax ring. I now rent the house out, so the tenants called MSK Plumbing after we found them on Yelp.
Of course this had to happen on a Saturday. MSK DID show up the next day, Sunday, and so that part was great. They coordinated with my tenant, to her schedule, showed up on time, fixed it, and sent the bill to me.
It was not a totally standard situation because the toilet flange sits lower than usual, due to it being a very old house. Therefore, two wax rings are necessary.
The MSK plumber told us that he installed two rings, but told me that the flange should be elevated. I didn't entirely understand this, because I had lived in that house for 15 years, with the toilet just as it was, double wax rings and whatever, and I never had a leak...
The bill was around $300 (I have the receipt) but my tenants also had him look at a leaking tub faucet/shower, so I am not sure how much of that was for the toilet fix. Mostly I was relieved to have my tenants happy.
But fast forward about 1 year: my tenants call and say that same toilet is leaking. Ugh.
This time I called a different plumber...
This new plumber coordinated with my tenants for the repair (same tenants) and then called to discuss with me. I told him I just paid to fix the same toilet about a year ago, and prior to that, had had NO problems for the 15 years that I had lived in the house, despite the same double stacked wax ring issue. I asked him if it was ""the flange.""
This new plumber told me (in detailed terms that I won't bother retelling) that the previous fix was not correctly done. He also told me the flange was NOT a problem, so no other ""repair"" was necessary.
But worst of all, I now have wood damage under the toilet, which was NOT there a year ago. I hate it when I have to pay the price for someone else's mistake.....
In fairness, I guess I should wait a year to see if this new repair holds up.
But before you believe all the 5 star reviews MSK gets on Yelp, realize that it is NOT only about whether the plumber answers the phone, shows up and is nice and fixes your issue. (although that is much appreciated and admittedly sometimes hard to find, esp on a weekend).
It's about whether that repair was done the RIGHT way...and I give MSK 1 star on that. Now I might have to pull up tiles on my floor, or open up the ceiling underneath the water damage that occurred after MSK's ""fix.""
:(
We needed a drain/sewer clean out. I called three places on a Sunday, and MSK was the first to call back and schedule an appointment. Unfortunately a prior job ran long, and they later called to see if they could reschedule a day later... or else they offered to find someone else from another company to come help. I waited for these guys, based on Yelp reviews, and I and glad I did. Honest, hard working, friendly, cleaned up a mess they didn't make.
