Took advantage of my recently widowed and sick mother. Travis came across as knowledgable and trustworthy but lied about work that had been done. When they replaced the mainline they were supposed to jet clean the interior plumbing. The guys there were never told to do it, so they didn't. When we called Travis he said that it had already been done. We had to fight a little to get them to come out. Plus, after Travis inspected our plumbing, he left the cap open and just put some paper towels in it. Since it wasn't secure toilet paper and water came out of it every time someone flushed. We didn't realize it until a day later, we now have water damage to our shelving unit in the basement. Who knows what else was lied about.
Can NOT RECOMMEND. I wish I could give a positive review but can't. I'm giving 2 stars because the job appears to be completed. We won't know the quality until down the road. They didn't instill confidence.
**My biggest complaint is with communication with the office and dispatch, which was very poor. Many problems. We asked for someone experienced with sump pumps, but the person they sent to do the job was NOT experienced enough to do it himself. That caused delay and stress for us. It took 3 days to get the job done.
I've asked the office for an itemized bill, which they not only haven't provided but they have't even replied to 5, (YES FIVE) requests.
We've asked for a copy of the guaranty for the pump they installed, which again, has not only not been provided but they weren't polite enough to respond to 5 ( YES FIVE) requests for that. NOTHING.
The plumbers themselves (there was a team the second time) were polite enough although one failed to show up for a 7:30 appointment with no phone call. I had call more than once to find out why he wasn't here. I'll be seeking out a more customer friendly company.
Disatisfied in Longmont.
A RIP OFF COMPANY
Had a backup in basement called Mr. Rooter. They said $99.00 for cleanout of sewer with easy access. Cody showed up 9/18/19 looked at access and said that's going to be $350.01. I asked, why? Because he had to call a guy with a camera to inspect pipe after he cleaned it. That was a shock. I did say ok. Travis showed up about 2 hours after Cody was done, with camera inspected pipe and got so far out about 78 feet and acted like he couldn't get any farther. Hitting pipe with his hand (Bluffing). Travis said it must be a broken pipe. Note; Did not record video. Quoted me $6,800.00 to dig pipe and replace broken section. Tried to scare me by saying you'll get more backups and it won't be good. He did give me a $50.01 discount for today's work. I needed another opinion. So I called another company. They recorded the whole thing all the way past city tap into the main line 85 feet. No problems with your sewer line, he said. So, I called Scott (General Manager at Mr. Rooter) 11/1/19. After several attempts to speak with him, he was finally available. I told him what had happened, before I made bad reviews I wanted to talk to him first, and give him a fair opportunity to make this right . He offered to give me $200.00 refund for camera inspection on 9/18/19. He said it would be in my account in 3-5 days. I tried to call him 11/8/19 when it wasn't in my account, he was in a meeting. Tried several times the next week, always in meeting or conference call. Finally spoke to him 11/15/19. He said he was unable to credit into my account because it had been too long. He told me, not making excuses he would cut a check and put in mail Monday morning. I said ok, I'll be looking for it. It has been 1 week and no check! Bottom line: This company doesn't care about customers just the $$$$$. Very dishonest. Will not make a lifelong business this way.
Unfortunately I have been using Mr. Rooter for about 3 years now with mixed results, mostly unpleasant. Again they were scheduled to come on the 23rd between 10:00 and 12:00 to do a complimentary flush on my tank-less water heater. ""The helper"" called me at 9:15 to say that they would be here within a half hour coming in from Longmont, which is about 30 minutes away during traffic. An hour later I called her back wondering where they were. She said they must have had car problems. This has happened almost every time they were scheduled for an appointment. Last time it took 3 schedulings over a 2 or 3 day period for them to actually come out. I asked for their number to find out when they would be coming, but she said they don't give it out. I asked if she knew when they were coming. She didn't, and was vague about getting a hold of them. I then asked for the manager's name and number. She told me that he wasn't there. I asked her when he would be there. She said she didn't know. She said she would have him call me. I said I will call back too until I get a hold of him. I was never able to get a hold of him that day after several tries. This seems to be symptomatic of the way they run this franchise. Not only that, but they tried to pressure me with fear tactics into buying a water system of some sort that was going to cost me and extra $1200 or so. If I didn't buy it, they said they would probably have to be back within 3 months to make repairs. I didn't buy it and everything has been fine for over a year now. This is not the first time they have tried to pressure me into getting extra things done that were not part of the scheduled appointment. At this writing, I still have not heard back from the manager, so I called Mr. Rooter's franchise headquarters to fill out a complaint. They were very sympathetic, listened, and are sending me a formal complaint form. I suggest this may be a better way of dealing with this franchise instead of wasting time like I have in the past. Mr. Rooter's franchise headquarter's phone number is 1-888-492-3396.
They offer a $99.00 drain clean but fail to some how mention the $350 dollar fee, also if you need your main drain cleared they don't even have the tools to remove the main drain cap or even the replacement cap. The kid they sent me wanted me, the customer to got to Home Depot for the part and do his job then want to charge me $350. The best part is Angel told me that the truck he had wasn't his normal truck, well if that's the case wouldn't it be a good idea to check and see if your vehicle you are issued is fully stocked? Its not Angel fault that his company sets him to fail! Don't use Mr. Rooter pay a bit more to get professional who are honest!!
Scott T.I hired a plumber for a job, and while chatting he told me used to work at RotoRooter Firestone and the owner is an aggressive scammer. The techs would get told to sell things to homeowners that were not needed in order to hit their daily sales quotes. He left over dishonest practices, and said the owner is one the pushing the dishonesty. Stay away.
Jacob and the Mr. Rooter team were tireless in their efforts to get us back up and running. First, next door, our parents house had a collapse of the clay lateral under the street. They had to do a full trench repair to the city tap on the far side of the street, with traffic management. They left the area clean and tidy, with the street repair looking way better than others nearby! Then, in our house, we had roots and a failing transition between the cast iron and clay, which a patch could not fix, so we ended up with a 3-hole pipe burst and a new transition, but we were actually happier with that anyway, all new pipe from the cast iron to the city tap. Again, everything was left clean and tidy, our patio repaired, all landscaping rocks back in place, and they even repaired our sprinkler lines! We may still have an issue inside our cast iron, but that will be for another day!
Day 7 without water they hit my water main replacing my sewer day two of no response when I call they take no responsibility please don't let this happen to your family
No extra charge for Sunday appointments. Great professional technicians. Respectful of my home
Mr. Rooter Review
Have to share my experience with Mr. Rooter; it is worth mentioning.
Basically in a nut shell, get 2 other estimates before signing anything or writing any checks.
The other estimates should be from a technician who demonstrates experience and root cause problem solving skills.
It went a little like this...
1. Mom and wife at home and drain starts overflowing in the basement. they can't get it to stop, so they call a company with a $99 special and can come out right away.
2. They snake the basement drain, it doesn't clear the line.
3. ""Have to take the toilet off"", now another 350 or what ever.
4. Took off the basement toilet and snakes it and ""hit a blockage""
5. Then cammed it and couldn't really tell what they were seeing, me either as I was watching they whole time.
6. They located the camera end, it was right out side the foundation wall.
and then recommending digging, another 6000 or so.
7. Very hesitantly agreed and signed contract, was made to feel like I HAD to ge this done ASAP.
8. they dug hole right away and left it covered with plywood until the next day.
9. we met and they cammed the open line in the bottom of the pit and found ""another blockage"" under the concrete up to my front door, ""and we are going to need to dig there now to replace the Orange-burg pipe that was probably fragged from age like all the other ones they've seen in the area.
10. they wanted $17000 to replace the line all the way to the eastern street at this point.
11. I got a really funny spidy sense and cancelled the down payment check, as well as sending in a cancellation letter per the contract. it was the last day to do so., we met again the next day and told them about the cancelled check, at which point they pressured me with putting a lein on my home. So i agreed to give them a check for $2000 for work already done... Way too much , but it was worth every penny to get them out of my world.
12. I then had another company come out for a quote, and quoted me about 7000 to replace all the line, but in the opposite direction, ""because they all run to the alley in this neighborhood.
*13. Had another company come out who ""dug in a little"" and decided to try and snake down the line in the bottom of the pit after camming it. they had a better camera, and it was pretty obvious that the block under the front walk was roots, and no damage to pipe at all.... looked great.
14. they broke trough the roots easily, and went another 90 feet out to the street. all done!
15. Hind site on this is that there was a ""T"" where it came out of the house. on way went 110 feet to the street, and the other went to an old clean out or grease trap line that was all blocked up. So when company 1 (M.r Rooter) was snaking and cam/locating, they were either hitting the ""T"" and or going to the north, thus thinking it was blocked.
16. Which leads me to the fact the the hole and all this could have been avoided if a little more problem solving were used. no hole needed, just the snake and camera to go to the south instead.... which I hear is generally done by having the snake rotating clockwise.... as well as a very high quality camera with a clear view of what's happening.
In the end, Company C (Roto Rooter) did a great thorough job and only charged 750 to put in a clean out and fill the hole back in...
SO , Don't let them tell you that you HAVE to hurry and do anything! Don't sign anything unless you've had 2 other companies come out and take an extensive look.
