Beware of price gouging from this company. Over a two-day period, which only amounted to around 45 minutes (if that) of actual labor we were charge $1240.58. All they did was snake a camera through a drain pipe for underground mapping purposes. No sewage, no clogs, just running a camera through an old drain pipe. The camera could only snake up to 150 feet of the drain pipe, so the technician could not go any further. At this point it was almost dark and we needed to open the area where he stopped so he could continue to snake the rest of the pipe. The technician at that time instructed us that if we needed his help once we got it open to give him a call and he would take care of us. The charge for his visit that day was $595.72 for 30 minutes of labor. The very next day we called into their call center to request the same technician to come back out. We stated then that we could not pay that price again and needed the same technician to come back out to finish the job. They said they would have the same technician give us a call since we wanted him instead of a different technician. We never received that call and they sent a different technician out which only worked 15 minutes of labor and charged us $644.86 which was more than the previous visit. The technicians work off of commission so small businesses beware! This company will gouge you!!

Beware beware bad customer service for warranty. Will not call back unless you keep pushing then very rude! Will never use any of these franchises.

They came out and had to take the toilet off late at night. He didn't fix the problem and charged for each thing he did. He made a complete mess when putting the toilet back on, and left it. I am sure he was tried, we were also but now I will have to hire a person to come put the toilet back on correctly. Very sloppy work! Thanks

I live in a house built in 1940 and my sewer lines were also original, made of cast iron and clay. I was warned a few years ago that the entire line would need to be replaced, but I decided to ride its usefulness out to the last second. Which I did, until the weekend before Christmas. My toilets wouldn't flush, so I had Mr. Rooter come out to open my lines (I've had to do this in the past due to root intrusion). Unfortunately too much of my line had collapsed and I had no choice but to replace it. I decided to use Mr. Rooter to replace my line and Moses, my technician, did a wonderful job holding my hand through the entire process and making sure the job was performed quickly, competently and to my satisfaction. We hit a few snags with rain, the holidays and waiting for the City of Dallas, but the entire job was finished by December 29 and everything is working properly. I can even run my washing machine and take a shower at the same time, something I've never been able to do. I would definitely recommend Mr. Rooter.

First visit - blockage "cleared", $302.
Second visit 3 days later - blockage now reported as "apparent collapse", tech reports rooter "continuously stalling out", gives drain repair estimate at $5185. Tech points out area of blockage, fails to mention that blockage is located in city right of way. Continued blockage, $577.
Call to city, 2 days later - amazingly, they remove roots in less than 15 minutes, blockage now cleared.
Mr Rooter $897
City of Arlington $0
It's not just about the money spent for a tech with failing equipment, if indeed it was failing. He then doubled down with a bid for work he knew would be covered by the city.

From answering the phone to the Plummer that comes out. All-star service. They are so nice and respectful and willing to really earn your business. I'll never use anyone else.

A plumber was at my home quickly when I had a plumbing emergency. The company representative was very professional and assessed the situation thoroughly. The work was performed as soon as possible, and was done well. Thank you Mr. Rooter!

I called Mr. Rooter to remove a clogged pipe and was told a piece of my pipe needed to be replaced. I was charged almost $700 for them to look through my pipe and another $259 to determine where the breakage in the pipe was. The technician told me he could fix the problem for another $3,695 with a $1000 dollar deposit on top of the the money I had already paid. I wrote him another check for $1000 and was under the impression the problem was fixed. He called me thursday and told me it was the cities pipe and he could not fix the problem. He the had the nerve to tell me I was high strung and that I owed him another $2,695. I told him I would not pay for something that was not fixed and since it was the cities problem they could fix it for free. Management refuses to contact me. I would stay far far away from these people if I were you. These assholes had the nerve to send me a bill saying I owe them more money and that I cancelled the job. Thats pure bullshit! Contact the City of NRH and they will tell you that Mr. Rooter could not fix what I paid them for because it wasn't my pipe to begin with and that any trained plumber would have known that.

Mr. Rooter quoted me for clearing a shower drain on 29 Nov 16 ($175 with a coupon). I decided not to proceed at that time but called the next day to go ahead with the work. I got a call from their dispatcher the evening of 30 Nov asking if it was ok to push one more day because the plumbers had gotten caught up in some complex jobs. I said fine.
Today, 01 Dec, I get a call saying they would still come out but would no longer honor their previous pricing because it was December now (and the coupon expired apparently).
My business going forward will go to ClearWater. With this kind of nickel and diming, this was my first and last dealing with Mr. Rooter.
Update 02 Dec 16: ClearWater did the same work for $100 without any coupon nonsense. So not only is Mr. Rooter not honoring written estimates, they also overcharge by about 100% apparently.

When the sewer in my nearly brand new house backed up I walked down the street to the model home and inquired about the builder's warranty. After a couple of phone calls I was told they didn't cover the sewer backup because I'd been in the house three months. I didn't argue and decided to call Mr. Rooter because I'd seen the Undercover Boss TV show featuring The Dwyer Group CEO and I was very impressed with the company and the various franchises it operates. I knew it wouldn't be the cheapest in town but I usually don't mind paying a little premium for quality service. It was Sunday and they promised a tech on Monday morning, which I thought was great. When Richard showed up I had an immediate adverse response to his personality but it was Mr. Rooter so I didn't think too much of it. He hadn't been there five minutes before he told me the toilet would have to be pulled and reinstalled because the sewage had come from under the base of the toilet. (I was pretty certain this was not correct.) Then he asked for a place to sit down and start working on his 'plan' and estimate and I started to realize he was probably getting ready to hand me an estimate for hundreds, if not a thousand dollars or more. I started getting upset because I'd just paid for a brand new home and I didn't believe I should be paying to reset a toilet so I called the builder's warranty department. Apparently I'd been misinformed the day before because he said they would pay for everything if the blockage was related to construction materials. However, he said they had a direct-bill contract with Roto-Rooter and they could not reimburse me if I used Mr. Rooter. I explained all this to Richard and told him I should have had the builder question resolved before calling but that I'd been given conflicting information. I felt really bad and said I'd be happy to pay whatever fee was involved for his diagnostic trip out to my house and I apologized for the inconvenience. (I live in Fort Worth so it wasn't a long trip.) He got huffy and told me he couldn't charge me a fee and told me on no uncertain terms that I had wasted his time and walked out in a huff. I (and/or my builder) made a mistake. I apologized and offered to pay him for his time. But he simply made it abundantly clear how angry he was and stormed out. I'm a professional and have always offered free initial consultations in my practice. I view it as an opportunity to win over a new customer. Obviously, Richard's time is too valuable for free estimates. I would have probably tried to use Mr. Rooter in the future because I felt bad about my mistake. But sadly, now, I will never call Mr. Rooter again for fear they'd send Richard!
P.S. Roto-Rooter showed up an hour later and couldn't have been nicer. They didn't have to sit down to make a plan or an estimate. They asked questions for five minutes, got out their equipment and in less than 20 minutes they had the sewer line cleared. They never mentioned a thing about pulling the toilet.
