This company is a scam. I had my septic tank cleaned and I was told that the amount would be $195. When the technician (John) completed the job, he gave me a price of $514. He said that he had to do """"extra digging"""" and he had to use an additional hose. He also said that he waived the $200 locator fee (as if he was doing me a favor). I was shocked and very disappointed in this price because the website clearly states that the $195 is a """"flat fee with no confusion."""" I called the company and asked to speak with a manager who could take care of this and I was told by someone by the name of Linda that a manager would call me. To no avail did a manager call but he called the technician instead. John stated that the manager could take $100 off but that was all he could do and if I did not like it, John could pump the sewage back into my septic tank. I could notg believe my ears. The manager also refused to speak with me because he told John he fears saying something very inappropriate. At this point, I was livid. John stated that this happens all of the time. Customers are not told about the """"additional fees"""" upfront and are given a huge amount to pay after the job is done. I don't know if this company is a member of the Better Business Bureau, but I will be contacting them. Shame on Mr. Rooter for ripping off customers and demonstrating a lack of professionalism. Unless you are prepared to be ripped off and treated with a lack of respect, find another septic business.

Horribly overpriced and tryed to fix what is not broken. In short they wanted $2323.23 for replacing a water heater. They wanted $1128.25 for a 40 gallon water heater. I can get a better spec'd water heater at Home Depot / Sears / Lowes for $400. Another company fixed/replaced everything, plus fixed my toilet (new guts, new water supply valve) for $950.00. They also spent too much time trying to pitch a service contract membership. I simply laughed. While they were out here, I googled """"Mr. Rooter complaints"""" and found this board. I read through this stuff while this guy was compiling his estimate. I told him about the complaints I read, and that he did exactly what everyone else complained about. I told him also that I could get a water heater for $400 and he began telling me how their Flame Guard is better and last longer, and wasn't available to the public (simple ploy so you can't compare the pricing). Flame Guard is made by American I believe, which makes a similar brand for Sears. I asked if it were better, why lower spec, and why an identical warranty. He simply didn't know what to say. All I can say is that these people prey on uniformed consumers. Thankfully I had my smart phone handy!

Awful experience. Got themselves in the door with a """"29.95"""" charge for giving us a quote. By the time they left they wanted to charge me $90 and hadn't even really quoted me what they came out for!!! The technician admitted to me that they offer the cheap quote then upsell it without even telling you. I don't suggest doing business with people like this.

These people are scam artists. They tried to charge me $600 for a clog that did not even exists. A 2nd plumber (not Mr Rooter) showed me there was no work to be performed. Do not hire these people!

Just received a quote this afternoon for the replacement of a bathtub faucet. The quote was just under $1000.00. Yes, thats right a thousand dollars for the simple replacement of a leaky faucet. I'm not a plumber, but I certainly don't believe this is anywhere near realistic for the job!

worst in world ... 17 days to fix a water leak many holes an mess later not fixed . they dont show up ,an are not qualified ,an the workers i am sure are not qualified, an the excuses are equipt problems, bad business .bad run .. do not use them .

Horrible Horrible service I called to have a sewer line snaked. First, they did not come out in the time frame promised. econd they rescheduled and still came late. I paid to have a toliet pilled and reset. 2 days later it was loose. They claimed I had to repalce the line for $4400. After snaking the line I tried to wash and the toliet and washing machine backed up. They promised to send someone out on Sunday had me waiting all day and never did. When I spoke to a manager on Mon he argued with me for a while and then agreed to send someone out on Wed btwn 5-7 well at 7:05 they said it would be real late. They then said they would find someone to come NEVER CALLED back. I am glad that I stopped payment on their check. WARNING DO NOT USE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The worst experience of my life. One plumber came out to fix a leak, for $300, and ended up breaking my shower. The second plumber came and revealed that the first plumber had committed fraud because he didn't actually replace what he claimed to replace. The office left 5 messages for the manager, all of which were unreturned to me. The entire process has taken more than 2 days already, and now I am left without a shower for another 2 days until they can get the parts. It is my goal to make sure no one else falls vicitm to this company. DO NOT USE.

We had issues with our septic tank and called around for prices. We received a $195 price unless we had backup issues. OK, I figured I had caught the problem in time so we should be good. It was a very helpless feeling when the plumber got here. He starts to tell me that he had to charge extra to use their excavator to get to the septic tank. Isn't that what you do?!? So, I thought about it and figured hey, another $125 to excavate. Not bad. Since there has been so much rain our drain field wasn't working properly. So our septic tank was full of water, not sludge, water....We were hit with another $150 to empty our tank that was full of water. What part of the $195 didn't include our tank size. We were told our tank wasn't bigger than the 1,000 gal. Next he wanted to open up the other side of our septic for a tune of $1300!! I told him to put the lid on and get off our property. He was nice but used the fear selling tactic which was unnerving. I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN!

I had a problem with my septic system recently. After describing the problem to Mr Rooter Plumbing over the phone I was quoted $195.00 fix. AFTER the person came from Mr Rooter Plumbing I was informed he would need to use his tractor to dig up my tank lid, an additional charge of $225.00. I watched in amazement as it took less then 5 minutes to dig up the tank lid that is 3 foot wide by 4 foot long, and less than 1 foot down. Something that would have taken me less than 10 minutes to do by hand with a shovel. THEN I was told my problem was a clog in my field line, which it would then cost an additional $450.00 to remove. By the time the guy was done, AND had spent less than 45 minutes here, my bill was $1024.00. A far shot from $195.00. The situation got even worse. 2 weeks later I had the same problem. When I called Mr Rooter Plumbing back to recheck their work, I was told """"there was no warranty on anything they did"""" AND It would cost me about $7000.00 for them to fix the problem. I called around and finally located MV Septic, who came out the same day I called them. They believed the problem was in the field lines, and quoted me a price of $2100.00 to replace those. With a 100% Money Applied to whatever repair I may need IF the repair did not fix my problem. This amount was approximately $5000.00 less than anyone else I talked to. They did the work the next day. And everything is still Great here. The real kicker is; When MV Septic dug up my field lines they showed me the line Mr Rooter Plumber had *supposedly* cleared the clog from. It was clogged for about 30 feet with tree roots. And the concrete pipe was crumbling. It was so clogged that you could not get a butter knife in it 2 inches, much less the 65 foot of thick hose Mr Rooter Plumber *claimed* he had inserted into the line to clear the clog. Mr Rooter Plumbing did NOT do the work they Claimed to do. And did nothing but steal my money from me. Don't use Mr Rooter Plumber unless you just want to give your money away for nothing!
