We hired Mitigation to detect a leak under our slab. They sent 2 guys that spent about an hour and they told us they would locate the leak exactly within 3 inches. They marked the spot with an X and charged us 300.00. The next day we had 2 1/2 foot by 2 1/2 foot area cut out of he concrete slab and dug down to the pipes. No leak. They were wrong but we figured they would come back and make it right by detecting the correct spot since that's what we paid for. We called them the next morning and they said sure they would come out for another 300 bucks. Needless to say, we fired them and found a respectful company that cares about their customers and wants to keep them.
I don't recommend using Mitigation!

We have a second house in Torrance I use during the week since I work over that way. The shower in my master bathroom developed a leak. I was not aware of this until I noticed that the floor in front of the shower door was spongy when I walked on it. I also noticed that there was some blackness where the edge of the linoleum was against the opening of the shower. I went online and researched what the problem might be and figured that I had some kind of slow water leak somewhere in the bathroom. I figured if it had been a full blown leak then it would have caused some kind of flooding. I was not sure if this would be covered by my insurance company, but decided I should have some plumbing or water damage companies look at it. Even though it was after 9 p.m. I decided to call the water damage companies whose websites said they were available 24 hours. Mitigation was the only company I called that I did not get an answering machine or someone who could take a message. When I called Mitigation I got a person, Travis, who said he worked directly for the company and could help me. I explained our problem and he offered to come over right away to look at it even though it was not a real flood type of emergency. He did some testing to find the water leak and he figured out that the problem was a combination of a slowly leaking pipe where it connects to the shower and that the floor of the shower had cracks and separations in the grout that was allowing some of the water when taking a shower to go through these cracks and into the flooring. Over the years the combination of the slow leak and water through the cracks had accumulated beneath the floor. This also allowed the black mold to grow and that it was now coming up through the edge of the linoleum. He told me that basically I would need to take out the shower so that all the damaged flooring could be replaced and then build a new shower. I knew this was going to be a big expense, but with the mold it would not be something I could put off. Travis offered to talk to the insurance company directly to see what could be done. Fortunately the insurance company agreed to cover the claim. Travis's crew removed everything and because water damage had also gotten under the vanity the vanity had to also be replaced. These guys did a great job and my bathroom looks like a remodeled bathroom. I would highly recommend Travis and Mitigation--they knew what they were doing and most importantly they worked with my insurance company on my behalf. I am not sure that if I had some other company come out that they would have been as knowledgeable about the problem and how the insurance company might work. Certainly every situation has differences in what type of coverage there can be, but in my case I think Travis made the difference. Because of this and the beautiful work they did in completing the bathroom I am giving them 5 stars and would highly recommend them to anyone who has water damage in their home.

Stay away! Run! Do NOT use the guys!
Using Mitigation was probably one of the biggest mistakes of our entire lives. Travis is the most unprofessional, unorganized, unethical person that my husband and I have ever encountered. Not sure how he has been able to maintain his contractor's license. When you talk to Travis, trust your gut instinct. We should have. We naively used these guys to fix a leak and repair drywall damage. The leaky pipe that they fixed ended up leaking again a few months later due to the incompetence of his plumber. The construction work was borderline. But that isn't the worse of it. He claimed to know how to work with the insurance company. ""Trust me"" Travis would say. We let the work begin (oh was that a mistake). When he finally provided their extremely inflated price quote Travis said ""oh that is normal. We quote high, they decline, and we meet in the middle"". The quote had double and triple quoted for some items. He charged for things they did not do and for equipment that they did not use. He was paid for the work he did, but about once a month he would call us and say we still owed him money (to this day we personally never got a bill). He claimed we had extensive mold and wanted to be paid for the cleanup. Our insurance company justifiably declined that claim. He finally came to an agreement with the insurance company, only to call us a month later to harass us for payment. His calls became a running joke in our house. ""It's near the end of the month . About time we hear from panicked Travis to collect money so he can meet his payroll"". After getting him in touch with the insurance company, we would not hear from him until the end of the month. After several months of harassing calls (oh and after we got the 2nd leak), he showed us the mold test results from mold samples that were supposedly taken by his staff on a day that his crew was not in our home. He never informed us of any possibility of mold until after the insurance company would not pay him for the mold work. We were constantly in and out of the room with the ""mold"". If it was as bad as he claimed, we shouldn't have been living in the home and be subjected to the hazard. The post work mold test was done by a certified representative from the lab. Not sure why he did not have the lab team test for mold before he did the work - oh yeah, it's because he wanted to fraudulently claim for mold. In the end he filed a small claims court suit against us. The insurance company ended up settling with him, not admitting to owing Travis money, but to get rid of him. I actually wish we went to court to see him fast talk the judge and to see if he could keep his lies straight.
8/18/14 update. We just learned that after all this Travis has failed to pay the lab he hired to do the pre mold and post work testing. OMG he is unbelievable

This is the sort of company that makes you doubt every plumber and every contractor you hire. They claim to work 24 hours a day -- but not at 8 pm at night.
I was desperate so I kept dealing with them. Big mistake. They showed up possiblly around 9:30 am and didn't tell me they were on site as they said they would. After they left, I called for a bill. They refused despite four requests to provide a bill. What they did at site remains unclear to me. Each call from this company comes from another phone number. Conversations with Travis produce alarming comments that the entire plumbing of the house is about to blow up. How would this company know since no camera was used to look into pipes? Or was it? Unclear. The last conversation comes when Travis calls at 9 pm! Really? is that when you do business? More inflammatory comments follow. I'm Mickey Mouse like his sister in Orange County, he says. ... I finally got a bill but only after being told that I should really replace main. Ok, I say, could you write up an estimate? Oh, Travis says as we are now moving past 9:15 pm, that's too much work. Well, I say, about how much would that be? Travis says $15,000. The logic here is insulting: he wants $15,000 but doesn't want to write up an estimate because it's too much work. Furthermore, similar work I recently paid for at another site cost less than one third. Travis blows hot air and whatever work he does, he is unwilling to explain what it is. STAY AWAY!

Their services for fixing a sewage leak were marginal at best- they left sewage leaking into the garage with uncapped pipes and plastic bags as a ""fix."" But even worse are their calling practices- they call over and over again and at all hours of the day and night including a call at 10 pm.

Avoid this company unless you have no other options.

Wish I could give them -5 stars. I called because my landlord refuses to call a professional mold company to fix a mold problem. My landlord wants to clean it off. I was calling for simple advice ""Is it safe to have the mold cleaned or not"" the man on the phone refused to help me. He said he won't tell me anything and if my landlord won't call, then I need to figure out what to do. Don't use these people.

I only gave them one star becasue there doesn't seem to be a way to give them no stars. I made an apt. for someone to come out to snake my drain and they called to say they couldn't come which is ok; they said they would come the next morning. The next morning a man calls to ask a question and then tells me the price is different than I was quoted. He said he was a general contractor as if that was supposed to impress me. He was on a cell phone and I couldn't hear him so asked if he could repeat and he said ""No."" I asked again as I figured he didn't hear me but he refused again and was very rude so i told him I didn't want them coming out. I would ever call tis company again.
