Theodore ""Ted"" Huether, along with his wife and children, founded the Gray Squirrel Cabins in the 1940s. Ted instilled in his children the cherished small-town values that are hard to find now. Honesty, integrity, and an unmatched work ethic. Fast forward to the 1960s, and Ted's Plumbing became the largest plumbing service in Big Bear, employing over 20 plumbers. One of those plumbers was David Huether, Ted's son. David worked as a laborer and pipe fitter in his early teens, eventually becoming a backhoe operator during his mid to late teens. When Ted was ready to retire, David took over the business and followed the path his father had laid out. For over 40 years, Mile High Equipment and the Huether family have been integral to the Big Bear Valley community. They have faced hardships and relished the triumphs. Inspired by his father's values, David has expanded his company into a versatile business.

We were stuck in a cabin in big bear that we rented for three days.. Beginning of January.. It snowed while we were there A LOT... We are No strangers to snow.. We have lived in and visited in Lake Tahoe for years. But were stranded this time with no out.
We were prepared on our ends as far as equipment and chains etc.
But the company that the owner's of the cabin contracts with and pays $1000's/year to plow their properties (mile high) was big time cashing in on the storm and all the stranded people and the quick cash they could make by taking on call customers on the spot and not taking care of their contracted customers.. We fully understand someone has to be first and someone has to be last, but they were openly talking cash customers on the spot instead of their contracted customers.
They repeatedly promised to but never showed up, left us there for days.
We eventually flagged someone down off the mountain and payed them hundreds of dollars out of our pockets to plow us out.
They were rude and just had very poor customer service all together.

Mile High has always been there for Pine Bluff Lodge. We have been doing business with them for many winters. We know they are extremely busy when there is a big snow but we are always covered day or night! Thank you!!

As a business owner I would have to say that mile high is awesome on getting the snow removed from the drive with no hassles.. Prices are good and defiantly worth it.. Thx for everything

Totally agree with other people who posted their reviews of a terrible experience with this company snow removal. Mile High just does not show up when you count on them.
We requested that they come clean our driveway after the last big storm.
Two weeks later after inquiring with them if they had completed the job and where our invoice was, they told us they had removed the snow and mailed us an invoice.
When we arrived at the property there was 3+ feet of snow on a thick layer of ice. It was obvious no work was done.
When we called them their customer service was terrible. Especially their manager Katie. She gave us the run around and told us that they will reverse the invoice and they now have no obligation to us. Then she told us if we wanted them to come out it would be $100 (original price was $70). However, they would only be able to clean the snow - the ice that had accumulated under the snow can no longer be removed and we will be stuck with it on our driveway for the rest of the winter (cannot use our garage).

I only wish yelp had negative stars. What a horrible company with rude employees, horrible service, and lies. I had a commercial agreement with them, called and scheduled service and they didn't show up. This wouldn't be too bad had they explained or called back. instead, after several calls and jokingly bad responses with premises of call backs, weeks later I am still waiting for that call. They may have a monopoly, but I look forward to supporting the local guy instead of this joke of a business.

Customer Service is RUDE! I called to get information on snow removal and the lady was extremely rude. After telling me they didn't have any availability, I told her I would call back to see if they can go the next day. She told me that I was lucky that she even answered the phone. If I called back, she said she would not answer the phone and that I would be sent to a voicemail and that I had to leave a message. I would be placed on a waiting list. I called back to see if this was true and I did get a voicemail but the mailbox was full!

This place is a joke. They claim to be open 24 hours but thats not true cause half the time, especially after 6 you can't reach them and it goes to a long phone message asking you to leave a message but then it says mailbox full. They are scam artists and ripoffs, they convinced me to sign up for a snow removal contract for an annual fee of $400.00 where they will come and plow each day of a storm. We did it and expected it to be done and then went to Big Bear and it wasn't done, I called and they said they were on the way but they never came. I called the next day and they said they are busy but will be there at 6 but never come. Meanwhile we are not able to access our home and are forced to shovel 2 days of snow just to make enough room to get car off of the street. The next day they say they are coming to do ours and our neighbors driveways, her jeep is in our shoveled driveway because they never came to her either. They finally show up at 7:30 at night and do hers and we tell the plow guy we will pack up our young children and give him room to plow your driveway since we can't park on the street without blocking it. An hour later he is gone and our driveway is not done. Yet we have paid for the service, when I try to cancel he has the nerve to want to charge me for one day. Should I charge him for the two days he didn't come? Most of the locals up ere that I have shared this experience with tell me that this company is a construction equipment rental company that decided to also do ski rentals, snow plowing and landscaping and as a result they are sub-par in all of these areas. Don't go here, in fact avoid at all costs, there is plenty of other options in Big Bear and this should be your last.

they have blocked my driveway and trash from being picked up.. rude and inconsiderate...
here is the response from them.. and yes btw it did put me out because my mother was admitted back in the hospital and it delayed me saying good bye to her.. but they dont care.. nor do they care about the laws

Melissa I apologize for the mistake made by one of our employees. Im sure it really put you out but i do take satisfaction in knowing that after your response to something as little as a truck parking in front of your property you must have way bigger problems than us.

You would think this place is out of business since nobody answers the phone and they don't return calls. Just a sign of the kind of service you would get from them.

I had the same experience and I am now asking for my money back. They have only come out once and that was after repeated phone calls. The one time they did come, they left a divot in my drive way.
