My plumber of 15 years retired. I called Mike Stern Plumbing to snake a bathtub drain. A dispatcher told me the complete price for the visit was $49 - I asked how that could be so inexpensive and the dispatcher said that is what we charge for a simple drain/snake of a tub. This is half what I paid to my former plumber! I figured I would give it a shot. The company sent someone who for starters came in the front door but started looking in the backyard for something. Not sure why he was investigating in the back yard as the bathroom drain was in the house :-). In the process, he left the side gate open. I have dogs, a few of which are elderly. Luckily, a friend was at the house and suspicious as to why he went through the side gate after coming in through the front door, quickly caught this and closed the gate. I spoke with the plumber by phone and he could have cared less that he left the gate open. Then dispatcher calls me and I am told the plumber needs to speak to me about 'what needs to be done' and is going to call me right after we hang up. 10 min later - no call. I call back again and the dispatcher connects me with someone who did not communicate in English too well. He tells me I have 'too fancy a tub' and he is unable to snake the drain from the tub without 'breaking a piece that blocks the snake'. Well, the fancy tub was actually a not so fancy tub and a $300 simple cast iron Kohler tub from a plumbing supply store. He tells me what is going to have to be done is to go under the house and do the work from there. This does not make sense to me. I called my retired plumber - who had snaked the drain half a dozen times over 15 years. He immediately told me 1) there ABSOLUTELY is a clean out accessible from the tub 2) going under the house means cutting the pipes from under the house and cleaning out from the opened pipe. He was upset as he realized the plumber was trying to cheat me and charge for a much more costly job - what he estimated would be over $350. I told him what I was told about 'the fancy tub not allowing access due to a part blocking the snake' and he said that is absolutely untrue. The retired plumber gave me the name of another plumber who came over the next day. 20 minutes and $100 later...the tub drain was snaked - from the clean out access on the tub..inside the house.
I will never call Mike Stern Plumbing again.

Sergey was amazing! We have been through many plumbers to figure out our water pressure issues and Sergey diagnosed it in 5 minutes. He also happens to be a very genuine and nice guy. Thank you!

The company was assigned through my home warranty company. I called, emailed, finally about a week later got a hold of someone, they apologized for not calling me ""the paperwork fell through the cracks"" sent someone out the next day, great! Plumber came between the scheduled time, looked around, made notes, said they would be getting back to me after the claim was submitted to the insurance company for approval. Two weeks passed by, I called the company, the lady answering the phones said she had no information and that I should call the plumber, their own employee directly! She even gave me his cell phone number, what kind of employer does that? Needless to say I called my insurance company and they said that it was unproffesional and the plumber/company had never submitted any paperwork.

Mike Stern plumbing is awesome! I've used them for the past several years. The owner, Steve is a super nice guy and if you have a complicated problem, this guy comes on the scene to give you an explanation and also will try and help you work out the best possible solution that is cost effective as well. I've never had to call them after they've done a job, it stays fixed. I have a Home Warranty and with that they send you who the HW is contracted with, they usually do a poor job and I end up having to call them back to fix the problem they were suppose to fix. This has never happened with Steve's employees @Mike Stern plumbinh.

I had this group of young men at my house numerous times. They are hard workers and do their job professionally. The ladies Ana and Venessa that take the calls are wonderful, and call back if the technician will be little late. We always ask for young man David. Just yesterday and today he was at the house and worked until stubborn problem was solved. Thanks David

Called this company for some plumbing work in our future home. Left work early since their appt. time was the only window they had open...drove an hour, to find no one had showed up, called 3 times, the lady answering the phone assured me all 3 times that the technician was 5 minutes away...
Ended up waiting for 50 minutes, still no one!
I would not trust a company so irresponsible and unreliable to do a plumbing job for a house...
On star is too many!

First, on a New Year's eve a lot of people said they would call, said they could do it, but then there was no followup.
I called Mike Stern Plumbing, and the experience was professional and perfect.
The person who took my information stayed in touch with me, giving me updates. I wish I had her name, I believe she was Asian, very kind, very thorough. Thank you to her!!
Then, it only got better. Ilya was my savior. Here is what I like about Ilya:
PROFESSIONAL!
Dogged determination to get to the root of the issue, and it was much more difficult than I imagined. And the problem is fixed.
He is very nice to be around when he works, he was very kind to my animals. (And they liked him too, dogs have a sixth sense about good people.)
In short, I could not be more pleased with the entire process from start to finish. If I EVER need help again, I will call Mike Stern. And Ilya is THE MAN!
Happy New Year Ilya and very nice phone help!
Great work, great people.

Our HOA had a great experience. Mike Stern Plumbing did a free inspection on our 1970's building after some leaking issues with our roof-mounted water heaters, and recommended water heater upgrades. We saved on crane fees, got a custom drainage system installed to prevent future roof leaks, and continue to save money with our new efficient water heaters. Highly recommend!

Overall I am very pleased with them. I contacted them to snake the main line that drains rainwater, pool overflow, etc. from my backyard drains. When I called to schedule an appointment, they could accommodate my schedule and provided me with a two hour window (very reasonable). Approximately 30 minutes before the scheduled time, they called to confirm and were able to be more specific as to the time of arrival (and the plumber arrived at the time they said).
Jesus was very personable, reviewed the situation, and quickly and efficiently cleaned the drain of roots and ran water through it to ensure that what he had done resolved the blockage. The entire job took less than 30 minutes.
The reason I gave them four and not five stars is due to the pricing. I learned of them through a booklet of local services distributed through the mail. Their advertisement claimed that they would clean out any drain for $49. I also explained this when I made the appointment and was not told anything different. When Jesus determined what needed to be done, he said that the $49 was for sewers and not exterior drain lines and that the charge would be $89. Given that he was already on site and I didn't want to deal with the inconvenience of reaching out to another rooter service (with no guarantee that the rates would be any lower), I agreed to the price. Had they explained this on the phone, I very likely would still have used them, but then their rating would have been five star.

Great service until they make a mistake. Used this place for a year (three times) and they were great. Until mow. They came twice to fix a leaky toilet. They had to come back twice because they installed the wrong part in the first time. When I called them, they said that the plumber knew what the problem was. He suspected that the part wouldnt fit but went ahead with it anyways. They charged me 80 for a part that I could have bought for 5 on top of the service fee. Month later, toilet starts leaking again. Wrong part installed again. But guess what? They wont take ownership of their crappy job and wont guarantee their service. Even though they knew that the parts wouldnt fit. Both time. Why they couldnt just tell me/order the part was beyond me. The fact that they wont take ownership of their crappy work infuriates me.
