Laura B.We asked McQuillian to come out and explore options to provide a 240V power supply to our garage for a new electric car charger. We started the process in July and (hopefully) have finished having to call them (it's November). The staff were very unprofessional, speaking very differently to my spouse and I depending on our gender. We could not get any managers to call us back when requested. Their work did not pass inspection THREE times. We worked mostly with the inspector and Xcel to apply pressure to get them to complete the work the way they should have in the first place. In the process, they attempted to instead a new meter to two other different areas, drilling holes in our stucco, only to remove them again to a third place (the spot I Xcel specified in the first place). The final breaker they installed was done poorly, and they had to come out to replace it only 2 weeks later because it wasn't secure enough to keep rain out (it's an outdoor breaker). We rarely received apologies, instead numerous attempts to place the blame on the inspector and Xcel (for their apparently too high of standards for electrical work). It was such a nightmare, so many days we had to reschedule or take off from work. We always had to be the proactive ones, connecting with Xcel and the Inspector for them. The Inspector had similar communication issues. They would never follow through without at least one to three reminders. I hope we never have to call them again. It was not worth the incredible stress it placed on us and still the fear that the work is done terribly lingers. It also sounds like so many people have been quitting and, from one of the workers, things are getting worse and worse at the company -- look for a different company with more stability and more knowledgeable staff.
Derek J.Less than 1 star. These people charged me 2k to tell my furnace is not replaceable and ghosted me for replacement after they took the rest of money. Robbed me and left me with a cold house. Showed up a day late also
I had McQuillan Bros do a whole house re Plumbing. I must say the guys were great and the work was done. From then on nothing but headache. Seems they don't know that they are the ones that need to contact the inspector. I was told by the front office people that it was my responsibility. AH NO! Whomever pulls the permit gets the inspection. Also, when the inspection was finally done there was some minor things that needed to be corrected. That was complete and I was told by one of the Family members that came to do the work ""It is all finished I just send in the pictures and we are good"". Then 3 months later the inspector sends me another warning that the inspection has not been done. Inspector stated that we do not accept pictures never have. Wow!!!
In the process of the work being done I was signed up for the appliance home warranty. I have not used it but decided that this time (Sept 22) when they called I would schedule. I was put on the schedule a month out Oct 17, 22) with a window of 8-4. Eight to four. I am suppose to stick around all day so someone can come and check my furnace. Humm. So Sunday morning the 16th I get a text that I needed to respond to confirming my appointment. All done, again the window of time was 8-4 (even comcast can narrow that window to 4 hours). Then at 2 pm a call stating that a number of customers are without heat. Hummm. power outage, nothing shows on any map. If a current customer is scheduled I would think you would keep that appointment and schedule others between calls. At least that is what they did for me in the past. Well needless to say I will not be using them again. Rescheduling puts me at the middle of December a full two months out. NOPE. And when I said take me off the list they did not seem to disappointed.
If one can get past the front desk and only have to deal with the actual people that do the work it would be wonderful. Excuses are lam and those in the front really have no clue
Missy V.Fast, friendly, and fair pricing! The guy was very knowledgeable and explained everything to me. My condo building will be using them again!
""0"" (ZER0) STARS It's amazing how Mcquillan Bros. can continue to stay in business with all the negative reviews. Here is just another one.
My central AC would run, but would not blow cold air. Called Mcquillan Bros. to come out and check the AC unit. Both a Tech and his Supervisor arrived. Tech removed panel on side of unit to access interior of unit. Tech removed parts from interior of unit to test. I believe one of the parts was a capacitor. He tested the capacitor and told me it was bad and needed to be replaced along with I believe another part. He gave me 2 quotes, 2 different options, to fix the problem. He showed me 1 quote for about $570 to fix 2 items and the second quote of $1370 to fix the 2 items AND clean the AC unit. REALLY!!!!!!! $800 additional dollars to clean the unit. Didn't have a very good feeling about these guys or the quotes they gave me. Told them to put the unit back togetherand leave it as it was.
Called another AC contractor, Reibel Heating and Air, to give me a second opinion. Explained to Reibel what the problem was with the AC unit. Reibel came out and the first thing he did was hook up a couple of guages to the unit, to check the coolant. Sure enough, the AC unit was JUST low on R410 coolant. He also took a garden hose and cleaned the AC unit. Reibel added 1 lb. or R410 coolant, cleaned the unit, and added a service charge for coming out. Reibel charged me a grand total of $398, opposed to the $1370 Mcquillan Bros. would have charged me. Mcquillan Bros. NEVER even checked for low coolant, told me a PERFECTLY GOOD capacitor was bad and needed to be replaced, and wanted $800 to clean the AC unit. I almost feel offended by the Mcquillan Bros, quotes, to think I would be so easily taken advantage of. I normally don't write reviews, but in such an extreme case as this, I feel compelled to let others know of the business practices of Mcquillan Bros.
Dan H.I had a quote from another plumber to install a new water softening system in our home. This is a system I purchased myself. All that I wanted was a plumber to install it. Recently, we did the same for my 81-year-old mother. Her installation was $350 from a plumber. I have a quote from another plumber in town for $425. McQuillan provided a quote of $1550 for this installation. I told them that was outrageous, and they had no explanation for why they are 4-5x as expensive as others. The only good thing is that McQuillan did not charge me to come out and give me a quote.
Don O.We noticed our air conditioner was not blowing out cold air so so we contacted Mcquillin Bros. They informed us a technician would be out the following day between 8 AM and 4 PM.
I left my ringer on and sure enough I got a phone call 8:10am the next morning the tech was ""on his way"" now I normally sleep in before work, but I got up, got dressed, and headed upstairs only to get a text message telling me my technician would now be delayed.
So I waited and waited and waited and I finally called, got put on hold, got a voicemail, left a message and then was finally called back at 10:40 The technician finally showed up a little while later, a very nice young man who informed me there was a leak and my coolant had leaked out. He gave me options ranging from $1500 to almost $4000 And of course the obligatory program for a $144 a year that will save me 10%. Once again I don't blame the young technician hes a nice guy he knew what he was doing, his bosses wanted to upell I'm sure. I paid the diagnostic fee and told him we would let him know.
After getting a second opinion, We ended up going a different route that only cost us $750 for the same work.
Sorry, cannot recommend Mcquillin Bros.
K D.I called this company for service after seeing their ads on TV and thought I would give them a try. We scheduled a day for later in the week & I rearranged my work schedule to be home that entire day. The day before they sent a text message to confirm I needed to be there between 8 AM and 4 PM, which I did promptly confirm. On the morning of the appointment, their dispatcher called me at 7:26AM while I was in the shower so unable to take the call. I called back at 7:44AM but they had already sent the technician somewhere else. The dispatcher told me they couldn't guarantee they could get anyone out that day any longer...really??? This company doesn't give you any kind of reasonable arrival window, as most contractors do. They don't give you any heads up the night before on a specific timeframe. I wouldn't waste your time hiring this company unless you have oodles of time to sit at home waiting for their arrival. They obviously don't value their customer's time! I rearranged my whole work schedule to be there the whole day and then they drop the ball. When I expressed my disappointment with the dispatcher on the phone she was unapologetic and didn't seem to care.
After I got off the phone, I called another company who scheduled an actual 2-hr arrival window for the same day. What a mistake to even try McQuillan...GO ELSEWHERE for service!!
My 72 year old mother used their service to install a kitchen sink faucet that she supplied. Apparently they had to replace a shutoff valve as well. They charged her $994.29 to do the work. The only parts & materials they provided were the shutoff valve, maybe some plumbers tape and caulk. Basically they price gouged and took advantage of her.
Friendly, fast and professional service. My tub diverter wasn't working. They came out within two days and replaced the tub faucet. Their price was lower than other places I checked. The technician was clean and had his own shoe covers. He explained everything thoroughly and was very friendly. I would trust him with any plumbing repair. Thank you!
