Had several other plumbers in my home with ""silver, gold, platinum"" grade repair plans... I was so confused! Plus, the sticker shock... I'm not new to needing home repairs, but pricing like that was a new lol.
We then called McDonald Plumbing, and for what we were quoted for one part of the issue they were able to fix EVERYTHING. Our professional then told me to always ask questions about the work they do, everyone is happy to explain and help! He was PROFESSIONAL, transparent and so kind. We saved thousands by hiring McDonald plumbing. The job they did for us was incredible, done well and quickly too. Call around and waste time like I did, or call McDonald for your plumbing repairs!
Frank E.This is the second time I have called McDonald to solve plumbing issues. The first time our nurse flushed a whole canister of disinfecting wipes down our toilet. We had raw sewage in our basement just before Christmas.
They have a long scope camera that could see the plugged wipes. The broke up the blockage so we could have use of our toilet again.
This time we had a basement drain backup due to heavy rains.
Kyle came and informed me our sump pumps were the real culprit.
By the next week they came and fixed the problem.
Very happy with their services. They have always been professional and courteous. And I would recommend them to anyone.

Taylor B.Ben and Seth came to the rescue today to help us with a kitchen sink back-up! They were super knowledgeable and worked until they figured out the culprit which was a sneaky back-up in our garbage disposal. They were so kind and represented their company so well! We 100% will be using McDonald Plumbing for all our future needs, thanks to our positive experience with Ben and Seth!
Katy C.We had a few plumbing projects that we needed help with at home, so Nate and I had McDonald Plumbing come out recently. They called me while they were on their way, and arrived within the 12pm-4pm window they quoted.
It was a flat fee for them to come out and quote everything, which was lower than some other companies I looked into. They showed us the parts we'd need and the final total for everything we needed done before doing any work. They also let us know that we'd likely be able to handle one other item ourselves. If we wanted to try it, they told us that they could still come back out and fix it for us if we decided we didn't want to tackle it on our own.
One of the things we needed done was replacing our kitchen faucet. They had some options available with them on the truck, so we didn't have to worry about buying a model that would be compatible with our setup, however you can buy something ahead of time and they can install it for you too.
The projects were definitely pricey but the employees were quick, polite, thorough, and helpful. The receipt we received at the end of their visit was not itemized, which was a little weird, but we did see the itemized bill prior to paying. I'd call McDonald Plumbing again in the future if we need them again.
Sean D.On time. Polite. Clean. Professional. Honest. Do not up-sell services. They are my go-to no matter what plumbing issue I have.
This was our second time using McDonald Plumbing from a referral. We used them before for a new toilet install, the fine gentleman told us we needed some repair on the sub floor under the toilet and suggested a company. We called that guy, he came in and quoted us our flooring including a vanity/sink. He told me he'd take $400 off if someone else installed the vanity/sink, so I called McDonald (thinking it would cost somewhere around $400).
I bought the vanity/sink and set an appointment. The day of the appointment, 2 men came to install? I wasn't here the first day they came, but my sister was. We wondered why it took 2 people? I called to complain about the price (already around $450) and was sent to Glenn. He told me that it wasn't strange for 2 people to show up and that one was a trainee, so we wouldn't have to pay for both. They couldn't complete the job because the sink had a crack.
We had to make another appointment and 2 more people came, another trainee? It took another 2 hours to finish, $775! for a vanity/sink install?! and again, I bought the vanity/sink. The fine plumbers tried their best to convince me that it was worth it and told me that Glenn took $300-$400 off! So we were supposed to pay more than that?
I got a bill with nothing itemized on it, so I asked Glenn for it. He said he couldn't send me an itemized bill?? I asked why, and he said that we had talked about it before from our intial call. I've never heard that before? Everything sounds very strange.
Also, I saw our next door neighbors use them several months ago for an emergency on a Sunday at 9pm. I asked them how much they paid for their emergency service call, $300. Granted, they didn't take as long and it may not have been so laborious, but they had to pay emergency prices, I think we did too! I hate to surmise why they would charge us so much?
We were satisfied with their work, just thought we were taken price-wise. Also I'm not from San Francisco, I'm from Grand Rapids.
Keely N.So I see that they don't get the best ratings but we had no issues! A week ago we came home from a vacation with a busted leaking pipe in our basement and we called on a Monday morning and by 9:30am I had someone at my door and pipe fixed within the hour. He did a wonderful job! Very appreciative!
Garrick G.TLDR: Their work failed, causing water damage to my home. Repair crew they sent blamed me for the damage without inspecting it.
In September of 2020 we had McDonald Plumbing repair two pipes under the kitchen sink and install a new faucet. On Monday, January 12th 2021 I discovered water was leaking from under the kitchen sink and into my basement home office. When I checked under the kitchen sink, water was spewing from the hoses McDonald Pluming had used to connect the faucet to the water lines. Both hot and cold, every connector from the shutoff valve to the faucet was leaking. I also realized they used a total of four hoses to connect the faucet to the water; two on the hot, two on the cold.
After shutting off the water and cleaning up, I inspected the basement area below the kitchen sink. The entire area was waterlogged, warped and spotted with mold including the sub-floor, cross beam and trim around a basement window. It was obvious that this job had been slowly leaking for a very long time.
We called McDonald Plumbing and explained the situation. We were told the earliest they could send anybody was Friday. Not wanting to wait that long I began the process of replacing all four of their hoses myself. Half way through this project I was contacted and told somebody would be at my house on Tuesday. At this point I had lost faith in McDonald Plumbing's work and I just wanted somebody to assess the damage their work caused and present me a solution to make things right.
Tuesday morning two men from McDonald Plumbing come to my house. I show them photos and video of their original install spewing water. I show them how the two tubes I replaced are no longer leaking, but the two remaining from the original install are still leaking. I explain that I no longer have confidence in their work and all I want to know is ""How is the company going to make this right.""
The man from McDonald Plumbing claims all they can do is replace the tubes (something I was already doing myself). Without inspecting the damage himself, he proceeds to blame me for the leak and the damage it caused. Holding in my fury, I politely ask him to leave my house. I then call McDonald Plumbing again explaining that I have lost faith in their work and service and that I don't want any representative from they're company in my house again. All I want is a refund for the original work they did and I'll handle any repairs and insurance claims myself. Again, I can no longer trust their work.
The service rep I spoke with tells me the only course of action I have is to let an employee from McDonalds pluming back into my house to inspect the damage. Again I explain this isn't happening, as I can't trust any decision making or work they perform. That's where we left it.
All I asked for was a $200 refund for the bad work they did. At this point the amount of time they've spent and bad will they generated fighting me has probably cost them more than the measly $200 I'm asking for.
Beth V.Mitch got here at the time expected. Super friendly, kept me informed and the price was sooo much better than I've paid out to another Grand Rapids plumbing service that basically ripped me off. I will definitely recommend and use McDonald Plumbing again if the need arises.
This is the third time McDonald Plumbing has come to our aid! Always clear in their instructions, clear in their process, fair in the price and just downright good at what they do.
