Shawn B.well you get what you pay for.... scheduled 2 HVAC check ups for a Sat 12-4 window. I CALLED Friday PM & Saturday AM to confirm. Well at noon the dispatch shuts down and you have to hope tech calls you back. Yeah, Sunday nite and still waiting. Guess going back to Nabil with M E Flow. Their loss as I have 10 HVAC units to manage at my various properties.
Will update if they attempt to make up for my lost Sat afternoon.
Hands down the worst home repair experience I've ever had. Paid nearly $11,000 for a new HVAC system for my townhouse with zone control. 7 visits later it seems to finally be working. They had to rewire the whole thing and replace one of the brand new thermostats that came with the system.
Worst part was, except for the nice lady who is the call center manager, no one seemed to care. Despite escalating my complaints to Lucas and John, no one has ever initiated a call to me to see if I am satisfied. Several appointment scheduling snafus caused me to needlessly miss work during this never ending process. Their technicians are nice but some don't speak English very well, so it is hard to know if they understand what the problems
are. I sincerely regret using this company, will never use them again, and recommend that you look elsewhere for your HVAC needs. They justify premium pricing because of their alleged first class service. What a joke.
Horrible Horrible HVAC Repair Service. Please do not use this company, you will under a lot of stress. We scheduled an appointment for a service man from their company to diagnosis why our AC unit in our CONDO unit in Virginia was not working (rental property). The service person who came was totally inefficient and clueless and ignorant. This was on July 15th 2019
They charged us $89.00 for the visit and gave us a estimate of a huge repair bill of $1700. We scheduled a follow up appointment on 19th July and were given a window between 1pm to 5 pm for the service person to show up. WE as landlords stay in Maryland; an hours distance from the CONDO property . After waiting for 4 hours we get a call from the company saying the service man will not be able to make it to the appointment due to scheduling issues!!! A follow up appointment was fixed on 22nd July however again there was a no show
We finally went through another company to get our AC unit repaired and for a mere $500 (compared to the $1700 quote) provided to us
When our AC system stopped giving cool air, our landlord called McCarthy to look into it, and they said we need to replace the system, which they did. As a result, the air did get cooler, but it struggled to reach the setting on the thermostat and as a result never turned off, working day and night with the exception of times when the setting matched the temperature outside anyway on cooler nights.
We asked McCarthy to investigate, and they sent us one incompetent technician after the other, all of which said that the system is working as it should. One of them replaced the thermostat, and the other unattached that thermostat and never showed up another day to reattach it as he promised until we called them and complained.
When we tried the technician from another company and he said he doesn't have the warranty to check the coolant pressure, our landlord called McCarthy again, and this 6th or 7th time the technician they sent seemed to have finally located the part that needs to be replaced, but to do that that they'll come another day. And on that day they sent another technician, not the same one, and that technician seemed to be a novice. And sure enough, several hours after he left it became evident that now the system doesn't just struggle to reach the setting, it barely cools the air AT ALL, and the temperature pretty much matches the outside.
To boot, technicians often tend to be late, ignore the instructions to NOT use the call box, and one of them didn't even know what a key fob is. Ridiculously incompetent. We'll do our best to convince our landlord to dismantle the whole system AGAIN and this time use the company of OUR choice based on reviews, though we have yet to ask McCarthy what the heck happened and decide whether to give them one last chance or not.
Kevin K.The technician who came out was super cool. But the company itself is a sham. They wanted to charge me 388 dollars to repair a 15 dollar part. That is on top of a 119 dollar service fee. Over 500 dollars to replace a 15 dollar part that you can buy from lowes or home depot. Here is the part they wanted to charge me 388 dollars for. The below link is the part they want to charge 400 dollars for. THIS COMPANY IS A SHAM DO NOT CALL THEM FOR ANYTHING THEY WILL TRY AND ROB YOU.

Pearl P.Great customer service and quick response time! Tammy and Chris are awesome. My HVAC broke recently and they came to fix it in a timely manner. Everyone I dealt with was so professional and helpful!
AWFUL!!!!! They did not show up for my first appointment - they brought an HVAC technician instead of a plumber for my second appointment and after waiting over 5 hours for my third appointment I cancelled- I'm sure my employer loves me now for taking so much time off of work!!! Word to the wise, never use this company!!!!!!!
Total scam artists...do NOT use this company.
I've had a service contract with McCarthy for years. The A/C starts to have problems, they send out a guy and tell me there's some kind of freon leak. It's a 12 year old system...so I get an estimate for a carrier a/c with furnace, comes out to $8600 with ""Discounts"". That seems a bit steep so I called them up and told them to put a ""pause"" on the install while I get more estimates. I called three companies that are A rated on Angie's List, and I showed them the estimate from McCarthy with prices blacked out to make sure I'm comparing apples to apples. I asked for quotes on the exact same models with full install. The lowest was $6000 even, the highest was $6600. While I'm getting estimates, McCarthy sends out a full team to do the install even though I had cancelled it. My wife sent the team away, and I called McCarthy to talk to a manager. He asks me to give him a couple of hours to figure out what happened before I start posting this stuff on social media and Yelp. I say sure, have at it. 90 minutes later he calls back and says I'm not sure what to tell you...I get why you're upset and I would be too. I hope you don't post this on social media but I totally understand. I asked him why they'd try to rip off a long-term customer and he had no answer, just apologized again.
Translation...we were trying to rip you off and you caught us.
Do NOT use this company!!!!
Ashleigh P.Putting this review on both of their pages so that it hopefully is seen by the correct audience...
I gave this company so many chances to right their wrongs and after a painful experience that was far below my expectations and a severe lack of professionalism (took 2x as long as promised, job was not finished AT ALL before they left, they left trash and windows open, drove through my grass, and broke our storm door), I was given a chance to express the issues to a service recovery agent. The end result after multiple calls and discussion was to give me a $50 visa gift card. What an absolute joke. I know the Home Depot financing will make this company tempting but it is worth taking out home equity or honestly putting it on a credit card if you can't swing it in cash up front. This was the worst home improvement experience I have ever had and I will be sure to tell anyone I discuss HVAC with to stay far away from them. I should have been credited money on the project but instead was given a $50 gift card (It was a $6K job). Never again! Reported them to Home Depot too.
Absolutely one of the worse customer service experiences I have ever received. The technician Andrew was to be at my home to fix my HVAC system by 9:00pm. He called me at 9:30pm to say he had a flat tire and he would be at least 40 minutes before he arrived. Andrew said he would call the other technician on call to see if he could come to my home. He called me back 10 minutes later and said one of them would be to my house in the next hour. Andrew also informed me that I lived farther away than the area they usually serviced. I don't believe the Andrew had a flat tired, but decided he was not going to drive to my location. I called at least 8 times overnight to see when either Andrew or the other technician would arrive to my home and I was informed by the after hours operators Shelby and Tiffany that they could not reach either tech nor the on-call manager Manning. This happened all night long. At 8am, I called the office and the gentleman who answered the call apologized profusely and insured me that I was the next call to be serviced. Not more than 45 minutes later the same gentleman called me to ask if I still needed service.? When I said yes and reminded him we had just spoken 40 minutes earlier, he was first confused and then told me that the tech James would be out sometime this afternoon. I asked what happened to me being next? He didn't have an answer. Needless to say, I did not use their services. Andrew, Manning and the other tech need to be fired.
I called M. E. Flow and within an hour they were at my house and fixed my air conditioner. Thank you for excellent service M. E. Flow.
