On Tuesday evening I had taken a shower and noticed the water wasn't very hot I thought it was because my wife was doing laundry. Wednesday morning my wife took a shower she said the water was cold. We were leaving for work so I didn't have time to check it. Talked to the guys at my job thought it might be a thermocouple got one from work. Got home at 8:pm looked at the water heater and saw water at the bottom I instantly knew the water heater was bad.

I Called Mattex this morning talked to Steve who wanted to send a tech out to look at it. I told him there was no need I needed a new one.

They sent Alex out who was extremely friendly and professional. He gave me my opinions and even talked to my mom. He answered all of my questions and even installed shut off valves as I had asked him to.
I told him I would drain the old tank while he got the new one and parts.


He let me help where I could.

Alex was such a pleasure to have in my home and is on top of his game.


I would recommend Mattex and Alex without a second thought. He is an asset to this company.

Had my furnace and air conditioner replaced by Mattex. Rich, the salesperson, was great to work with and also had the best price. He answered my email questions even on the weekend as I chose between the 3 options he prepared for me. The bids were broken down by component and very easy to understand. The others who bid mostly lumped things together so it was less clear what components cost. The installers, Dustin, Aaron and Dillon, were extremely polite and efficient. They did a great job and cleaned up well too. Nelson the install manager dropped by to see how things were going. You could tell he had been doing this quite a while. Everyone I spoke with at Mattex from the person who answered the phone to the people who visited my home were extremely professional and great to work with. This is a well run organization with great people! I highly recommend them.

As luck would have it, our 23-year old furnace broke on one of the coldest days of winter so far which also happened to be a Saturday. After another company came to let us know what the issue was, we called multiple companies to get different quotes on replacing the outdated system (furnace and AC were 23-years old so we decided to replace both). Mattex gave us the most comprehensive quote while answering all questions we had. Rich from Mattex came to our house on a Sunday and didn't try to sell us the most expensive thing but rather what would work best for our specific needs. He brought us space heaters to help keep us warm and worked to get us on the schedule for the very next day (Monday). The crew came on time on Monday at 8AM. We were told it would be a full day (7-8 hours) but the guys worked efficiently and were finished by 1PM. They cleaned up after themselves and gave me a great tutorial on how to use the new thermostat. I highly recommend this company for all heating and cooling needs.

I called Mattex to receive a quote on a hot air problem on the second floor of my house. Trevor came out and quickly determined several of the problems that were contributing to the hot air. He was eager to get into the attic and down into the crawl space to identify the root causes. He provided me with an honest assessment of my options and didn't attempt to hard sell me on some bogus services or charge me for going into the crawl space (pretty fundamental task if you're going to assess a central-cooling issue; couldn't believe another local A/C company wanted to charge me for this task). I was shocked when he didn't charge for the visit given that he corrected several deficiencies (damper was closed on an air supply). He provided me with some reasonable/logical long-term solutions that were quoted at fair prices. I would strongly recommend Mattex for air comfort issues.

My mother used this company several times and found it to be really expensive. The plumbers always arrive to do the work on time but then they tell you that they need to go to buy a part and disapear for more than 30-60 minutes. I called them when i moved to my house to do a plumbing job. I was giving an estimate to do the work for $475, however after signing the contract the next week Ed (another person) came to do the work and said that it would cost more. He wanted another few hundred more. After an argument he decided to honor the quote offered in the signed contract. He left and disapered for more than 1 hr with the excuse of going to buy the part needed for the job. He then came back and finished the job in less than 2 hrs. I ended paying that day $675 after he did also a change of small pipe and also a replacement of a leaking faucet. None of the two jobs took him more than 20-25 minutes.

A months later I phoned Mattex again to install a toilet. I had already spoken with another plumber who came to do another small job and I was told the job would cost me about $82-85 since it wouldn't take more than 1hr. Unfortunately I needed to wait for another week before he could come back to do the job. I decided to consult with Mattex and they told me that they would come in the next day for an hourly rate of $90. I phoned the next day to arrange an apt for someone to do the installation. This time I was told their hourly rate was $95. When I questioned the discrepancy in the rate promised the day before I was told they would do the job for the $90.

Ed showed up to do the installation at 2PM. He got home and left right away stating he needed to buy a part to install the toilet. According to my mother the plumber always leaves during a client's service to probably do a 2nd job that he left on hold when he came to my home. He probably told the other person he was going to buy a part needed for his job. By doind this the plumber is getting paid by me for waiting when he is buying the part when in fact he is doing the job of another client and is getting also paid. I was told by someone who works for a plumbing company that this is a very common unethical practice used by most of these companies.

After Ed disapered at 2PM and I was left waiting for 30 min I phoned the company and asked to cancel the apt. I said I did not want to pay for this waiting time. The owner stated that he would talk to Ed and I wouldn't pay for the errant. However when Ed showed up and I mentioned it to him he got upset and got the calculator and told me that he needed to charge me $118 for the job and that would be it. He started the job at 2:40 and ended at exactly 3:31. He went to the car and sat there for 15 minutes. He came back at 3:47 and said that i would be charge for 2 hrs of work. My mother was there and inquired about the reason for the 2hr charge when there was not more than 1hr. We were told the errant wouldn't be charged and Ed got back from the ""errant"" after 2:30 and ended installing the toilet at 3:31. He said that as soon as he got to the door of a client he has to add 15 additional minutes for his travel time and after he finishes the work there are other 15 additional minutes for the paperwork.

The conclussion here is Mattex hourly rate (according to Ed) it is not $95 as stated by the company. The $95 are for only 1/2 hr of service.

I called Mattex to replace my main water line. Ed did the job quickly & efficiently and came in just under the quote amount. I am definitely glad I called Mattex and I would use them again for any future plumbing issues (which I honestly hope I naver have).
