I had my HVAC and water heater replaced by these folks last summer. since the replacement of the water heater I have had a pounding noise each time a downstairs toilet is flushed.
last week the 1 year old tankless water heater began showering hot and cold water out of the bottom of the unit. The rep came out the next day and replaced two failed part. I had to remind them the unit was one year old as not to be charged for the work. I called for three days to get someone to return to address a faucet leak but was told they could only come after 5 for an additional fee on top of the 90 fee just to come to my home. I repaired the leak myself with the help of a youtube video and my 20 y/o daughter.
today they came out and quoted me 480 to swap out 2 outside lights. 840 to replace a range hood. 1300 dollars for 2-3 hours of labor. I work with people who can cure cancer and they don't even charge rates like this.
take your business to people who don't price gouge.
We bought a new unit AC/Furnace unit from them 2 months ago. Installing was amazing. The AC is not working now when it's 90 outside and 81 in my house. Now that they have my money I keep getting pushed off for them to come fix it. I'm not impressed with the person who answers the phones, she just wants to get off and not really help you. Very dissatisfied
Bobby B.TERRIBLE company!!!! I booked an appointment 4 days in advance and let them know I'd be driving in from 2-1/2 hours away to meet them at a rental property. I got a text at 8:08am confirming the appointment. I got another text at 12:12pm saying their ""techs are still hard at work and as soon as one is available will be reaching out."" At 2:34pm I asked for an eta and was told ""the tech is still working on a furnace. As soon as he's finished they will contact you right away."" At 4pm they called and said they would not be coming. Too many other important appointments. I went with them bc there appeared to be a large company with many techs. I figured I might pay a little more, but need someone who can be there when they say they will. I waited 6 hours at my property, and wasted the gas and 6 hours driving time to be there. I was hoping to find a one-stop shop I could use for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical at all my properties. I will never try to use them again and will tell everyone this story. Absolutely terrible. I would never treat a customer like this. I wish I could give ZERO stars.
Kathie V.Wow! Is all I can say. The service man was professional and quick. I thought I had the right part, and I didn't. He showed me where to get the right parts and didn't charge me for the first service call. ( Who does ANYTHING for free anymore?!?)
When I obtained the right part they came back promptly and installed it. I couldn't be more pleased.
The sales and installers don't seem to coordinate very well. Sales set up an appointment only to have the installers arrive with no idea what the plan was. Then they insisted the plan needed to be altered. Hours wasted with nothing to show for it.
They're also pretty expensive, and always seemed to be pressuring me into committing to regular maintenance services.
Kaye K.They replaced our furnace earlier this year. I should have gotten other bids for the work- I found out after the fact that I could have had the job done for about 25% less for the same product. They send cookies to your house and ask you to post your review online. I felt like they utilized the cookie delivery as a guilt technique to get a positive review.
They were ok in competence but also the highest priced of 4 HVAC companies I looked into for a new Trane Heat pump and air handler. I saved almost 3,000 dollars by going with An old Trane dealer from Decatur Illinois. I'm not kidding. These guys are high priced. My new Trane Seer 18 Xi Heat pump and Tam 7 air handler was 7750 installed. Their same equipment and price was almost 3 grand higher. Now you figure it out. The owner likes to live too high dollar of a lifestyle. Never.
Doris H.They will never step foot on my property again! The only positive thing I can say is that they responded quickly.
My attic fan had gone out and caused moisture in the attic. My regular electrician referred me to them. The first recommendation was that I remove the pool from the garage, ignoring my statement that I have a pool for a health problem. Secondly, he said the whole attic had rotted out and I was going to have to replace the new roof and everything on down. Yet laughed at me when I asked if the kitchen ceiling would have to be replaced also. What is so funny? If everything it is attached to is rotten, why wouldn't it need to be replaced? Claimed I did not have a ridge vent which I forced him to take a second look; he finally had to admit I did with no apology for being wrong; It was there but doing NO GOOD. If I had taken their recommendation I would have spent thousands of dollars, possibly $50,000 for he said the setup was all wrong. Predicted a huge fire, the burn out of the furnace, pool heater and water heater. Wanted to bring in evaluation crews. Well,it has been working fine for 12 years. He never identified his pool expertise and claimed all the professionals I had in over the years didn't know what they were doing! Please. He didn't even know who had been involved. Beware of the guy who proclaims to know everything without proving why.
I had been in the attic a couple of weeks before and it was dry. Wood does not rot that fast! He didn't address the immediate situation. All suggestions would have to wait til spring to implement and by then maybe all would be rotted out.
I put a fan up there and two days later another company put in a new fan and all is well.
I was charged $79.00 for all this doom and gloom prediction with NO suggestions of immediate action. All of this two days before Christmas. Happy Holidays to you, too.
They have lots of bells and whistles. I got three e-mails from them before the guy arrived; one with a picture of the person coming. Sorry but I don't need all of that and you pay for it. He also stated that they are a repair company but they don't do appliance because you throw them out even if they are fairly new like two years old; you don't repair them. Also said the charge for cleaning a dryer vent would be 200 or 400 depending on the difficulty of the job. He knew mine would be $400 because without looking or knowing there the vent and dryer are located he knew it would be difficult. He wasted my time and I got to pay for it!!!
I'm not at all an expert on things plumbing. But in years past, when I was younger and more fit, I replaced a wax ring for a toilet. It took only a few minutes.
I do NOT KNOW for certain that my current problem is related to the wax ring; but my problem (water leaking from underneath the toilet) is consistent with my needing to replace the wax ring. Because I have major problems with my back, I dare not even attempt that task.
I called Mattex, and was quite pleased that an actual human being answered my call (after getting answering machines on my previous three calls). I thought I had found my ""shining armour"" plumbing contractor--until I was told that whatever charges I incurred for their work would be ADDED to the $79 charge simply for coming to my house. That was my first red flag.
When I asked the costs for replacing a wax ring (a procedure I had completed many years ago in perhaps a quarter hour), the gentleman with whom I spoke said the total, including the service call (which is NOT subtracted from the work charge) would be $407.17. LOTS of red flags!
That is absurd and insulting. If they charge that much just to replace a wax ring, what would they charge for something more complicated? I could purchase and install an entirely new toilet for not much more than that. I will never again call this company.
On Tuesday evening I had taken a shower and noticed the water wasn't very hot I thought it was because my wife was doing laundry. Wednesday morning my wife took a shower she said the water was cold. We were leaving for work so I didn't have time to check it. Talked to the guys at my job thought it might be a thermocouple got one from work. Got home at 8:pm looked at the water heater and saw water at the bottom I instantly knew the water heater was bad.
I Called Mattex this morning talked to Steve who wanted to send a tech out to look at it. I told him there was no need I needed a new one.
They sent Alex out who was extremely friendly and professional. He gave me my opinions and even talked to my mom. He answered all of my questions and even installed shut off valves as I had asked him to.
I told him I would drain the old tank while he got the new one and parts.
He let me help where I could.
Alex was such a pleasure to have in my home and is on top of his game.
I would recommend Mattex and Alex without a second thought. He is an asset to this company.
