I incidentally found out my water heater, which was originally installed in the 90s, was completely rusted on the inside. I did some research and found that MAC's was a local carrier of Bradford White water heaters, which are American made and high quality. I called for an estimate/eval appointment and Steve came out the next week. He is personable and friendly and gave me an easy to understand estimate and his honest recommendations. As a single female homeowner, I felt very comfortable and never felt as if he was trying to upsell me (which other contractors and businesses have done in the past).

He gave me several options and even told me about the SMUD rebates ide be eligible for. I opted to convert from gas to an electric hybrid for it's efficiency, cost, the fact that it will cool the garage a bit, no pilot light and the smud incentive rebate.

On the installation date Ed and another technician (who's name I cannot remember, I'm so sorry) arrived promptly at 8am as scheduled. They were equally friendly and personable. We talked about some of our outdoor house projects and they got right to work.

We had painted the garage and asked that they let us know when the old water heater was removed so we could paint behind it and without asking they did it for us! I even, without thinking turned the water on while they were working and got water everywhere, they just politely reminded me not to use the water and helped me clean up a bit.

When they went up to the attic to do electrical, right away they noticed the HVAC system had some issues. I know nothing about HVAC, but remember him showing me the photos and basically the coils are rusted, there's coolant leaking, it's falling apart and we are breathing in particles of fiber glass. The week prior I was just thinking the HVAC was probably 20-30 years old and needed replacing. I called the office to make an appointment for an HVAC Assessment and got one for the next week, but our technician called Steve and sent him the photos. On the phone the three of us were able to decide on a new system and establish an install date ASAP due to the condition and their very packed schedule coming up this summer. Of course they told me all about the smud incentive rebates so they were able to save me quite a bit of money changing from gas to electric hybrid. Smud offers a $3900 rebate.

I'm so thankful they noticed because with summer coming up, my HVAC could have failed at a very unfortunate time. Overall, I am so happy with the fast, quality, professional work they've done. And it's a bonus that they're local. I am a lifelong customer and cannot recommend them enough!

Our water heater ""died"" and Mac's sent Steven to give us an estimate. He discussed all options and allowed us to make an informed decision. He expedited our service, as well. No more heating water on the stove to wash dishes and take creative showers. Mac's has a customer for life.

Our heating and AC unit was 28 years old and on its last legs. We decided to replace it with an all electric heat pump. We opted for a Trane 17 SEER system, based on Consumer Reports. We got three bids and Mac's plumbing was lower by several thousand dollars. They arrived this morning at 8am and were finished removing our old system and replacing it with the new one by 6pm. Nate and Ed did the installation, two very good workers and nice men. They took all of our old equipment away and cleaned up everything very well. Nate is coming back in a day or two to make sure everything is ok. We still have to get the city to inspect the installation, but we are very happy folks right now. AND the new system is very quiet.

The technician Jacob was here within two hours, he was extremely polite, professional, and provided an amazing customer service. I got Mac's Plumbing, Heating & Air replaced my natural gas water heater tank to electric. Steve MacDonald, the owner, came to my house last to give me free inspection and written quote, under $2,000, including Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) $2,500 electric water heater tank rebate paid directly to contractor. AJ spent almost the whole day and did an excellent job and give me instructions to run the water tank flawlessly. Really appreciate the local company and highly recommend the family-owned company.

Front yard water pipe was leaking and causing massive amounts of water to drain and run down gutter. Mac's Plumbing came to our rescue and fixed the leaking pipes. Very professional, caring , and got the job done without any diddle-daddling! Definitely recommend them. They will not disappoint!

Immediately upon moving to Sacramento the AC on the house we had just purchased conked out. We got quotes to replace it from several companies and decided to go with Mac's (Nathan and Steve are very knowledgeable and helpful).

The installation was scheduled 2 weeks later and Steve graciously got us a portable AC unit so we wouldn't roast in the meantime during the 10 days of the extreme heat wave in June. They replaced the AC and furnace with a brand new heat pump, installed new thermostat, new ducting, new attic fan, and new insulation. They also replaced our water heater, fixed the water main, and installed a new toilet and shower fixtures.

They also graciously dealt with SMUD for the rebates and with the cryptic whims of the building department regarding the permits and the inspections.

I'm now thoroughly enjoying freezing cold air, lower energy bills (from $180-$220/month I am now paying ~$140/month), and no more allergies (now the ducting is brand spanking new!).

Just had Mac's plumbing come out here this past week to install a Hybrid Heat Pump water heater and it was a great experience!

Some background, I found Mac's through SMUD contractor network as I was planning on using the rebate offered for new water heater installs. I had contacted quite a few contractors and Mac's was the one I ended up going with. To start, my first interactions occurred with Steve, the owner of the company. Steve came out to provide me a quote and give an idea of the what they would need to perform. He was extremely thorough in the process and provided a quote right on the spot. One of the key things that helped me pick Mac's was that Steve provided great detail in what they would need to do. Steve also came back for an additional appointment and was extremely patient and helpful throughout the process.

My next interaction was with the office manager Kristyn. She walked me through the process of completing the documentation and moving the process along. I had some extensive questions and some minor paperwork issues, but she was extremely professional and courteous throughout the process.

On the day of installation, I dealt with Ed and AJ. They provided a time frame of expected job completion and they were right on the money on expected completion time. There was a small error in the work order but Ed out my mind at ease and told me not to worry about as they would get it fixed. This was big deal as he was determined to resolve the issue and didn't just brush off the issue. After installation he explained how the new water heater work and provided a lot of important information. In the end I ended up with my new water heater with minimal amount of work on my part.

Pricing was they came around the mid to low compared to other contractors but the service was definitely top end. I have some future work in mind and they will definitely on my contact list! Thanks to Mac for the awesome work!

Had Mac's Plumbing come out and install a Quiet Cool house fan, new Air Conditioning and Heating unit along with all the duct work after our existing unit failed! Steve is awesome to work with. Probable one of the most honest and trustworthy people I have ever meet. His team had the new unit ordered and installed in less than a week!
