Fly N.Originally found them on Angie's List, but following reports that A.L. may not be as unbiased as implied, I have since allowed that subscription to lapse.
Have used Murray Resnick plumbing twice and hoped the first experience was an anomaly. It is important to understand that we were not on-site for either job. These were two separate and distinct jobs.
I'd give his wife 5-stars for her pleasantness and timeliness of appointment - and Murray 5-stars for showing up roughly as scheduled. Also, 5-stars for his work and cleaning up after himself. His price is on the higher side, 3-stars, but everyone deserves to make a living.
Where I have had frustrations is (Murray did not head out until he secured credit card details) when his work is completed, Resnick Plumbing falls out of sight: no invoice (or receipt, I suppose), we had to log into credit card account to determine the charge, no returned phone calls. I wish it were otherwise, but instead of feeling I've been treated as a valued customer...well, I just don't. To follow up with a receipt or returned phone call would have resulted in a wholly positive review.
Brittany P.every aspect of the company is horrible trash and the owner is a liar. we paid to have a lot of work done in a new work space and after the plumber Shaun completely ruined the sink in our backroom, they magically stopped returning our calls / texts and never showed up when scheduled. we had one instance where we had to reschedule, other wise Shaun had a new excuse everytime we tried to set up an appointment for him to return to finish the job. after dealing with this bullshit we decided to call the owner, Murray who seemed to be on our side for the most part. (we let him know his worker was not replying to us, told us he was unable to get a part for us at the time and it would take a week or two to get it in then he would return. yet we found the exact piece of Amazon and had it in our hands two days later. ) Murray said to stop communications with Shaun and to deal directly with him. finally, success! JUST KIDDING! more failure. Murray told us he would have someone out to finish the job within three/four days. then it snowed (Tuesday january 6th) which he then claimed was the reason he was unable to get someone to our business. he then told us he would personally come on Tuesday january 13th to finish the job himself. that's funny, because the day of. no call, text or Murray. luckily we have since hired a new plumber who informed us of how wrong everything was installed and he has had to redo the plumbing and electric near the sink to correct what was done wrong. though we have wasted a good amount of money on this, we more importantly have lost time. we were supposed to have our project done in December and we are now just finishing it up because we had trusted this company. DO NOT USE THEM!!! biggest headache ever.
I have used Resnick Plumbing twice since moving into our home 2 years ago. The first was a couple weeks after moving in - one of our toilets wouldn't flush. Mr. Resnick was our second plumber, after the guy recommended by my warranty company charged me $200 and then told me he couldn't fix it. Mr. Resnick came out in the early evening, because I wasn't home during the day, examined everything, snaked our drain out to near the road where it was clogged and recommended I get a replacement mushroom cap to top the pump out drain, which was only a few dollars at Home Depot. It only cost $275 and we haven't had a problem since.
This week we realized one of the shut off valves for our outside faucet wasn't working and we had ice under the faucet. He came out right away - called to tell me when he would arrive, evaluated the issue and told me quickly what he would do to fix it. We also had a guest bathroom shower where the water temperature was always scalding, he looked at that as well. Within 30 minutes - he told me what he likely needed to do to fix both and it would be around $300. The work was finished in an hour. He placed a new value to the outside faucet and told me how to winterize it. Also replaced the temperature cartridge for the shower.
Everything was done quickly, professionally, and as he said.
I've always been happy with his work and will call him with our next plumbing issue.
Ben H.Avoid at all costs!! We were overcharged for a job left incomplete and incorrect, they actually did more damage to the existing structure than the job was worth. A dozen phone calls and a month later, we have to start over with an actual responsible business, and pay to have everything repaired and redone. Absolutely awful, I wish I could leave zero stars.
Ressnick plumbing is the only plumber I would use. They are professional and extremely informative! I have used them for various home plumbing problems and they have never disappointed me. Always arrived within the time period quoted and always gave me an accurate description of the repair I needed and the price. I'm very happy and will continue to use them!
Fawnia C.My husband who normally fixes things in our house was out of town and our sink started leaking in a panic I called M Resnick plumbing Melissa was very pleasant to deal with on the phone and Murray came out at 9pm at night to see what the problem was and give me a estimate. Not sure what I did but it wasn't leaking anymore when he got here! Murray was very helpful and it was a pleasure meeting him he checked the sink and couldn't find anything wrong told me if it happens again to call him back. I tried to offer him money for the trouble of coming out especially after hours but he wouldn't take it so I made him take some apple dumplings instead!!
I don't know who these negative reviewers are talking about, but I really don't recognize as the the Resnick Plumbing that has done so much work for us. They have done a great job on a variety of jobs in an old house we bought, including: new plumbing for our shower; a utility sink; installation of a new toilet; and went into the crawl space to fix a plumbing problem. The cost was reasonable and the service was fine.
As for the negative reviews, some people are never satisfied, In my experience. It almost seems like someone is making things up as a personal vendetta. I think that's a shame. Don't they have anything better to do?
I recommend Resnick's for anyone who wants a good job done at a reasonable cost.
S A.If only we could leave negative stars. Our home warranty company gave us this company as our second attempt to fix a problem.
The first company made the problem worse and now this incompetent plumber has taken over a month too find a ""hard to find"" part when others have said it's a basic part.
Dont trust and STAY AWAY!!!!!
James W.Service was scheduled for a 1pm to 3pm arrival window. At 2:50 pm I received a call that the service technician was 30 to 40 minutes from arriving. Around 4pm, I received another call from the technician that they were still on the road and wanted to know if it was still acceptable that they come out to the job. I said it was ok by me and the technician arrived another 50 minutes later at 4:50pm, 1 hour and 50 minutes past the latest arrival time quoted.
Upon examining my plumbing, the tech quoted an immediate $175.00 cost to replace the easily accessible inside shutoff valve and quoted an additional $175.00 to replace 3"" (inches) of 1/2"" copper pipe upon conferring with the home office.
$350 to replace a valve and 3"" (inches) of copper pipe is excessive but what the technician did next nearly floored me. I was told that they would need to go to Home Depot to obtain the parts! When you hire a plumber you should reasonably expect to get high quality parts from a plumbing supply house and not do-it-yourself inferior parts from the Home Depot.
I found it very strange that a plumber would not carry the most basic of plumbing essentials on the truck and cancelled the job knowing that the Home Depot parts would not even come to $15 with tax! Evidently Resnick Plumbing was aware that I was using an Angie List promotion and paid $49 in advance for $149 worth of service (essentially a $100 discount) and was factoring the estimated price and the materials that they would use to compensate for this $100 savings.
For $335 for an hour's worth of labor, I could hire a Lawyer to do the plumbing and also get an iron clad contractual guarantee to go with it.
This review was recently posted on Angie's list and the follow up by Resnick Plumbing was chock full of lies. I was never informed by the tech that she was stuck in I-95 traffic. The quote was for 3 inches of pipe and not a foot and while the repair was under a deck, that was not mentioned during the phone call to the office and the deck boards were also removed so that it was not necessary to work under a deck. Resnick was also aware that I had a coupon because I was asked if I did and told how it work ahead of time.
In case you read the Angie;s review, you can add liar to the list.
For the record, another plumber arrived on time and replaced the valve with a high quality ball valve from a supply house, replaced the damaged area of pipe and repaired a nearby valve for $165.00. He was in and out in just over 30 minutes!
It should be further noted that by simply reading other reviews for Resnick Plumbing you will see charges in the $200 range for similar work. One in particular included replacing the inside valve and outside hose bib (valve) for only $225.00 (My quote was $350 for just one valve and 3 inches of 1/2"" pipe)
HOMEOWNERS BEWARE OF RESNICK PLUMBING. I have never experienced anything like this. Resnick came to inspect my toilet, which was running, in September 2013. Murray, the owner, gave me two estimates for both the part (a fill valve) and labor--one for $250 for a plastic fill valve and one for $375 for a brass fill valve--and I chose the cheaper one since he said there was no difference. The part took a week longer to come in than estimated, but I had the work done. When the plumber completed the work, he told me that the cost would be $375! (I can't help but notice that this is not the only review on Yelp in which someone says that Murray randomly changed the price on them, so this is not an anomaly. It's how they do business). When I told him that I was quoted at $250 and had an Angie's List coupon for 10% off, he said ok and took my check for $225.
However, the toilet kept running and when the plumber returned to address the problem, he told me that his boss asked for the coupon back because we'd ""shorted him substantially."" Needless to say, I refused, explaining that a) that's false advertising with the coupon and b) it's not my fault they may have accidentally ordered and installed an expensive part I did not ask for. He agreed and we left it at that.
Fast forward 9 months and guess what breaks? The very fill valve he installed. We call Resnick to let Murray know, and he claims he has no records of the specific part he installed or where he got it from, so there's no way of knowing if it's under warranty. I have never heard of a business that does not keep any records.
Furthermore, he has no interest in helping us out in any other way. I cannot explain what a nightmare it has been dealing with this company, but they are to be avoided at all costs if you don't want to lose $225 like we did only to wind up with a toilet that's still broken. Now that we are getting the word out about our awful experience with this company, Murray is trying to convince us we chose to order a more expensive part, which is patently untrue . I have never dealt with such blatant lies the way I have with this company. If you want to avoid awful service, lies, and persistent problems, do not deal with Resnick. They are not to be trusted and will absolutely try to cheat you.
