This company was created by Steve Lowry in 1980; at first, it was just Steve with his vehicle. His apartment served as the initial office. Every job was done by Steve himself. Over the years, the business grew, resulting in the hiring of more electricians and establish his first location. Recognizing a chance to broaden his services, Steve added HVAC and plumbing to our offerings. Lowry Services is on a growth trajectory, despite challenging economic conditions. After four decades in operation, we show no signs of slowing down.
Joe H. has been with Lowry Services for 35 years. He began as an electrician working in the field on service calls. Since then, he has gained hands-on experience across various aspects of our business. His experiences give Joe a distinct understanding with the situations his employees encounter. Joe's journey to General Manager was unique; this unconventional route has proven to be an asset. Having started as a service technician, he has built a strong rapport with his employees. As General Manager, his greatest asset is his ability to draw from real-world knowledge combined with creativity to lead our company into the future.

BAD BAD BAD.
1) We paid Lowry Services nearly $200 in advance for a one year Heating & Cooling maintainence package.
2) The service tech missed his first appointment. We waited for nearly 2 hours, then called the office. The General Manager (Joe) claimed he was ""stuck in traffic"", and said ""we have no control over traffic"".
3) Faulty diagnosis. When the tech finally arrived, he said we needed a new blower motor in our furnace. But he never actually tested the old motor -- to measure current draw, RPMs, and air pressure, temperature, and velocity -- to determine its condition.
4) Outrageous overcharge. Lowry quoted more than $800 to replace the blower motor. Average price for this repair is $200 to $400, according to http://www.homeadvisor.com/cost/heating-and-cooling.
We reluctantly allowed the tech to replace the motor, because we needed the system to be working ASAP. But the airflow was no better with the new motor than with the old. So we told the tech to remove the new motor, and not charge us for it, which he did.
5) We told Lowry's General Manager ""Joe"" (who refused to give his full name) we wanted a refund of what we paid for maintainence. Joe agreed verbally, but refused to put his agreement to a refund in writing.
6) No refund without hassle. Lowry eventually sent a refund check -- but with sneaky fine print which threatens us if we tell anyone about our experience with them. The PA Attorney General's Consumer Protection Bureau [www.attorneygeneral.gov] may want to investigate this.
DO NOT CALL THIS CONTRACTOR!
The hot water line out of my new water heater sprung a leak. I cleanly informed them that it was not a water heater issue. The service rep (Sean) was nearby (within 30 minutes) and determined that it best to put on two short (less than 1ft) pieces of copper pipe and a new valve (not necessary) on top of my water heater. He gave me a quote of $682.00 (no breakout for labor, parts or overhead expenses). I told him this too high. He stated that was the ""going rate"" and was not willing to negotiate. Since was was out of hot water and my wife is an invalid, I agreed to let him proceed.
He was done in less than 30 minutes. I again said this was too high. I called their ""customer service"" immediately and complained about the price. Neither they nor their ""service manager"", who called two days later were willing to negotiate a fair price.
This was a clear case of price gouging.
This is the worse service ever. There is a complete disconnect between technician and customer service. My appointment was for Monday I was pushed off until Tuesday. The technician kept changing price the manager Jerry was no help! The worse service ever I had to give them one star so I could add a comment. Frauds!
Awful predatory company. Used them for plumbing and electrical when i first moved into my house 3 years ago (and nothing worked). They charged outrageous prices! They tried to charge me 150 to replace an electrical outlet (i declined). They charged me 600 to replace a ceiling fan (wires already there). They installed the wrong faucet in my garage and it froze in the winter sending water into my basement. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS. There are lots of legitimate electricians and plumbers who will do a good job at a fair price.
I had a quick job that would take less than a hour. I ran all the wiring, all they had to do was the tie-ins and they tried charging me over $300. I paid their $49 travel fee and told them to leave. Beware these guys are scammers and total overcharge you. Go with another company willing to come out to provide a free estimate to earn your business.
Amanda B.Horrible. After my sink exploded they came and did maybe 20mins of work and charged 400 dollars. While that was a lot I would have felt fine about it if the problem was solved, or even if they would have come back to fix it again but to charge me again to fix a problem they didn't fix and over charged me in the first place, never again.
..... Warning...... warning........ Warning....... Warning........ Warning....... Warning......
Lowery services charged me $1000 dollars an hour for four hours work.... $4200 an hour to install a water supply line that was deliberately install to shallow to prevent freezing. This company is predatory in its practices. a water supply line should never freeze. Lowery services General managers inspected the incorrect installation within six months of the original work.. Not only did they refuse to do the job correctly placing the water supply line deeper in the ground they wanted to install ridiculous space heaters and Pipe insulation that would never prevent freezing. Lowery services wants to sell me frozen pipe insurance. This is mercenary predatory practices design to cost consumers unnecessary burden... Never at any point in time should the main water supply line to your home freeze.... To sell you frozen pipe insurance is a deliberate scam......
.........Warn your family warn your friends lowering services is a predatory Company ............
I had work done by them quite a while ago, but feel compelled to write this review. I felt completely scammed by them. I needed some work done the day before I was leaving for a trip and felt uneasy leaving before I had the electrical work done. Granted it was a last minute call and they were very good about sending someone over promptly, A+ for swift response.
Please just beware of their pricing tactics. I read other reviews where people gave them five stars, so not everyone was dissatisfied. However, if you happen to get a technician that uses their dubious pricing tactics, just be careful.
Karina S.This has been one of the worst customer service experiences of my life. I had them install a new HVAC system (which they recommended) at the end of sept 2016. It has been an unseasonably warm winter so we have not had to use the furnace much yet but in the 2 cold spells we have had it has not worked. That is frustrating enough. But the poor customer service, lack of technicians' knowledge and no communication has been the worst of it. I now sit here AGAIN with no heat and no call backs. The tech who came out told me it's my thermostat....the day before the install manager who came out proved it is not. They do not show up when expected, do not tell you they are running late and have no interest in resolving anything.
If I could get my money back, my old 30 yr old furnace I replaced back and undo the whole deal I would, and erase the name Lowry from my memory. Home Depot recommended them and I guess my next step is to tell them about this ordeal so they don't keep sending customers their way. Fed up beyond belief, and I am generally a reasonable person. I just want working heat. You would think a $8k+ system might get you that....
I would give 0 stars if I could
We asked Lowry for an estimate to install two 18"" lights under a cabinet in our kitchen. Their estimate was $1,200. I purchased two high-end LED lights for $150 and had another company install them for only $100. Total cost $250. I will never contact Lowry again. Their business strategy is to taking advantage of the naive, elderly, and those that don't know any better. They charge $49 for the estimate, then they try to sell you a $99 membership that gives you a discount on outrageously priced items from a catalog that only they have access too. If you're computer savvy enough to come this far, take my advice and check prices online and get estimates!
