Steve Lowry founded this business in 1980; at first, it was just Steve with his vehicle. His apartment served as the initial office. Steve took care of every job himself. With time, the company flourished, leading him to hire more electricians and open his first shop. Seeing an opportunity to diversify, Steve added HVAC and plumbing to our offerings. Lowry Services keeps growing, even during tough economic times. Having served the community for 40 years, we continue to move forward.
Joe H. has been with Lowry Services for 35 years. He began as an electrician handling service calls in the field. He has since gained valuable experience in every facet of our company. His experiences give Joe a distinct understanding to relate to the experiences of his team. His path to General Manager was not traditional; this has become one of his greatest strengths. Since he began as a service tech, he has built a strong rapport with his employees. His key strength as General Manager lies in his practical, real-world experience in conjunction with his innovative thinking to guide our business into the future.

Em R.Called at 6 am for an emergency services for a sewage problem, waited till 7:41 and still no call back. I would never recommend!! Don't advertise if don't follow ur own adverisement!
Avoid at all costs! Total scam! They require a technician to come out to give estimates, and there is a $49 dispatch fee. I had a total of 2 estimates, one to run 2 new circuits from the breaker which would have cost $1200. I got the required supplies and did it myself for $80. Another was for a ceiling fan box install with an attic above which would have cost $1300. Got another estimate from someone else that was $500. Avoid!!!
I can never prove it but I am convinced they broke my AC during a tune up. It was old to start with but worked fine for the 4 years I have been in the house --then they come out for a tune up and suddenly it breaks down the next day? Too big a coincidence for me. First time they came out the guy said ""good news, your system works fine--but here's 750 of maintenance items you need"". I said I'd think about it. NEXT DAY it breaks down -- they come out and say its shot and needs 1000 of repairs (on top of the 750 they quoted earlier) and probably not worth fixing. They are probably right, but no way are they getting to quote on my new system.
Dave K.Called to schedule a time to have my A/C looked at, and setup a time a week out that fit my schedule. During this call I was very clear that I had a meeting at 1:00PM during which I would be unavailable to meet with the tech - so service would need to be prior to noon. Was informed that diagnostic would cost $89 (which sounded fair)
Fast forward 1 week and zero follow-up or confirmation calls. NP, I touched base with the main number at 8:30 and was told that I was ""next"" for a tech who was completing a project. Waited around until noon and called again - was told once again I was next and the tech would arrive around 12:30, which ultimately caused me to be late to the meeting in question. A big deal, but getting the A/C fixed was a necessity so I ran with it.
Tech came, hooked up linesets, and promptly informed me I was low on refrigerant, then informs me that a nitrogen pressure test is $617. $617?!?!?! Filling a tank of nitrogen (good to pressurize 20-30 systems for leak testing) costs around $20 at the local dealer, and diagnosis takes about 20 minutes. PLUS, what the hell diagnostic cost me $89 if a pressure test it not included??? Pressurizing a system for leaks is standard practice as part of ""diagnosis"".
They went on to quote me over $1600 worth of repairs (none of which actually fixed anything) including a cost for $104 per lb of R410a (a full 20lb tank costs around $120).
The equipment the tech was using was also sub-par - and the guy was on the phone asking how many lbs of refrigerant a 2.5ton system takes (HVAC 101).
In summary: Prices are OUTRAGEOUS, they are not timely. their techs are not qualified, and they are an all round poor company to deal with. Their is literally not a single good thing that I look away from my experience.
Not impressed. I sent in a request for quotes for a project via Home Advisor and had three companies call me immediately. Then Lowry called. The person I spoke with acted like they would be doing me a favor to come out. A little voice in my head said not to bother with them, but I wanted several estimates so decided to keep the appointment. The guy got here, took one look at my electrical box, and said ""That needs to be upgraded before the rest of the work can begin. That's $2600 right there."" I told him I didn't want to spend that money and asked if there were other options for what I wanted done, and he said the box had to be upgraded no matter what. I said that wasn't going to happen, and he left. I wasted my whole morning waiting for him to show up, and we talked for a grand total of about 2 minutes. I wish now I'd read these reviews before I agreed to meet with him.
Update: I had the work done by another company and it turned out no electrical work was even needed. I'm very glad I didn't go with Lowry, that's $2600 I would have wasted and goodness only knows how much the rest of the work would have cost.
This company is outrageously overpriced. The charged over $400 to change a light switch. They will try to convince you they are better than their competition however they are a complete rip-off with service technicians that are only trained to sell you things you don't need. Beware of this company. There are a lot of honest companies to choose from and this is not one of them.
I called Lowry for an estimate to wire a basement I had just refinished myself. They gave me an estimate of $7,000. I then got a local electrician to come out for an estimate and he did the entire job for $700, ten percent of the cost to have Lowry complete the same job.
This business prays on individuals. They charge $49.00 just to come out and then they charge a ridiculous price to fix the problem which includes a one year service contract. They are so full of themselves. I wrote a two page letter explaining my displeasure and received NO response! DO NOT use them even though they claim they have all these awards. The only thing they can claim, is they answer your call fast, and that is so they can rake in your money. I will never again use them or recommend them for anything. Buyer beware!!!!
My Lowry technician was a wonderful young man, someone I would never hesitate to invite again into my house. However...Lowry was called because my own electrician was out of town, and I felt a particular problem had to be dealt with immediately. The problem outlet was quickly fixed, and then I asked to have the Lowry man install a GFCI breaker in my basement to safeguard two low-lying sockets in case of flood.
I paid an EXTRAORDINARY sum for these services. As in ""omg!"" large. AND he even tried to sell me on some other services while here!
When my regular electrician returned to pick up on another project, he checked the basement outlets, only to find one of them did not work. After some searching, he found that connecting wire that came from another wall had corroded away over the years. It needed to be re-wired. Apparently the Lowry tech never checked his own work.
Funny thing is, the sticker on my panel reads ""Do not install in ungrounded surface"". Which, apparently, is exactly what the Lowry tech DID do. oops.
It's all fixed now, and more. But I gotta tell you guys that sometimes the bigger a company is, the work product suffers. Unless you know that your house could burn down in the next couple of hours because of an electrical problem...call a REAL electician...not a BIG FLASHY COMPANY.
Joan C. (Big fat invoice #158770, 12.18.14)
Run fast from this company. Technician came out to give a price on hooking up a generator, transfer switch and plug that I already have. All I needed was the wire (100 ft run) and it hooked up. Got a price of $5231.83. Paid the $49 dollars to say no. This job should be no more than $1200. Save yourself some money and find honest business to deal with.
