Recommended Customer Reviews
We have used Lewis Plumbing in the past with success (other than untimely arrivals). This time, however, we need to give an unsatisfactory review. We contacted them to plumb a short 5' gas line, and we were clear with the receptionist that we were not looking for an estimate/scope of work but rather just wanted the job done on the spot. We were told we were on their schedule for 2 days in a row (though they couldn't give a time estimate) and when they finally did show up they said they were unprepared to do the work (""we're having trouble getting parts these days."") We are disappointed to cross Lewis Plumbing off of our list of home vendors.
Joe saved me! I had a major clog in the main line that stopped up all of the drains in the house. No warning, just boom, no more water until it was fixed. That's what you get with cast iron pipes They sent Joe out the same day I called and he took care of everything. They didn't even charge an emergency service fee. I'm very happy with Lewis Plumbing.
Promp service from this company. They did some major plumbing for me last year and now just a stopped drain, but I appreciate the friendly service and the explanations they give. They did a great job for me!
Thank you Lewis Plumbing for the refund. I very much appreciate your response and action. I do want to let you know that I didn't ""run"" to post a negative review, as I always try to resolve any issues prior to posting any negative review. I questioned the plumber and also told him I was not satisfied and upset and all he said was,""Sorry Mam."" I immediately phoned your office and spoke to the lady that answered the phone and advised her of my issues, and again told her that I was not happy and she also said, ""Sorry"" with no offer to speak with a manager. One thing I didn't mention, that maybe it would be a suggestion to do in the future, is that the plumber did not advise me of the work under the house he was doing. He was just doing it. All I heard was drilling and it would have been nice for him to tell me what he had found and then ask me if I wanted him to proceed. Good communication is necessary, even when you are the expert and I am not. Thank you again for the full refund.
Lewis Plumbing has always been a reliable company for us to deal with. Recently a plumber helped with a leaking toilet and answered questions about the water softener. We have no complaints!
This is the second time we've used Mario at Lewis Plumbing and he is great... so professional and efficient. Christina (in the office) is also wonderful... and always gets a plumber to us the same day, which is a miracle in SB.
I needed a plumber to install new water lines to my washer/dryer and replace an old kitchen faucet. I called Lewis plumbing who arranged for Erik to call to my property the very next day. Before he arrived I received a text and a call with his details and arrival time. He arrived and walked me through the pricing and estimated timing to complete the job. We had a conversation (no sales pressure) to remove some additional drainage pipe which I approved. I am glad I did as when it was removed it was 90% blocked (it was a very old pipe). Erik hooked up my washer and dryer, installed a new drainage pipe which involved getting into the crawl space under the house and will return to install the faucet once I complete the drywall and painting. I received a call from Lewis plumbing to check I was satisfied with their service which I was. So far a very professional service. Pricing was fair and invoice was emailed to me with every cost detailed.
Once the job is fully completed I will update this review but based on my experience to date I will certainly use Lewis plumbing again. Thanks Erik.
Every positive stated in other reviews I totally agree with. Friendly, professional service from the office staff to Joe the technician. Service was right on the agreed time and completed promptly. I would highly recommend them.
Lewis Plumbing will gouge you on the cost of any parts required for your job. I had them replace 2 valve stems for bathtub faucets and they billed $66 plus tax each. The retail of the part is $13-$20. They replaced a water pressure regulator which retails for $65 and charged me $212.50 plus tax. In addition they charged $300 for 2.5 hours labor for a total bill of $674.21. The technician charged my credit card while he was onsite. After reviewing the invoice, I sent Lewis an email (in their email with the invoice they request that you give them a chance to ""make it right"" before you leave a negative review) asking them to explain the high markups. They responded very tersely ""the pricing is standard."" I sent a follow up email asking if I was correct that they were marking up parts by 300%-400% and they never responded. I have several other rental properties and this extremely high mark up on parts is NOT standard. I will never use Lewis Plumbing again. There are other Santa Barbara plumbers with much better average reviews. Avoid this company.
Awful Lewis Plumbing in SB Business Practices! Lewis Plumbing charged us for time and labor to install wrong parts to repair a leaky faucet - actually made leak worse. I contacted owner to get reimbursed for time and labor charges due to hiring another plumber to replace faucet. It has been almost 2 months since Lewis plumbing made faucet leak worse and still no refund. More reasons not to use Lewis Plumbing:
1. Didn't show up for scheduled appointment - showed up late for re-scheduled appointment next day.
2. No estimate and no invoice given prior to having to pay bill of over $1,000.
3. Sent and charged us for 2 plumbers when we expected only 1 plumber and we were led to believe one plumber was the ""Master"" plumber - so we didn't realize we would be charged for two plumbers (we thought one was in training).
4. Charged for time to drive to our house and for time to write up invoice.
5. Sloppy work - left cover off our outdoor water meter (exposing wires overnight) and forgot to re-plug in our water heater.
6. Owner was rude and abrupt when several attempts were made to resolve issue of trying to get reimbursed for time and labor charges for un-repaired leaky faucet. Don't Use Lewis Plumbing!
