They have been very good in times of emergency and don't try to ""invent"" issues to increase their bill. Highly recommend
Lindsey H.We needed a plumber to fix our toilet as it wasn't flushing properly. Being new to the area, and driving passed this business several times we decided to use them after reading their mostly positive reviews. They answered the first time calling and were quick with scheduling and coming to the house that morning. They were able to fix the problem, but it ended up costing $350. The price seemed pretty steep to me, but I've never used a plumber before and have nothing to compare it to. I also wasn't given any kind of estimate before hand.
We selected K&W for a partial sewer replacement. All external to the home, about 40ft of pipe. Everything seemed to go well at first. The 'closer' who gave me the quote and seemingly managed the project was very nice and responsive prior to contract agreement.
The first day, and several other times throughout the project, they no-showed and didn't say anything about it. I had to call to see what was up.
The backhoe operator hit my power lines and the wire supports broke off of my house. They did handle getting it fixed with the utility.
Once the replacement was finally done, the inspector required them to rework part of the replacement pipe, which took about another week to get resolved. They still have not cut down my vent and cleanout caps (currently sticking about 3ft out of the ground). I'm tired of calling them to find out when they can come, so I'll have to finish this myself.
They also upsold me a hydrojet service, just to be able to inspect the connection to the main. They found additional parts of the line that needed attention, and offered to provide a quote for finishing the replacement to the main. This quote was never provided.
Overall, it seems like they do adequate work. The reason for the 2-star review is due to all the communication and scheduling issues, as well as the fact as the job was never completed and I was left hanging. Will not be using them again.
Katy M.We first used KW Plumbing during our home inspection. The guy they sent wasn't able to perform the inspection because of a plastic pipe jutting out into the sewer. He was super courteous and explained everything. Then, two more guys came out to fix that problem and a leak in our bathroom. They were very communicative and both only charged us for what they needed to do, which was less than we originally thought. Will definitely use this company again as they seem honest and down to earth.
Steven C.I selected Nathan and team at Krupp Whitney to replace my failed terracotta sewer line, which included approximately 60 linear feet of 6"" PVC replacement under my concrete driveway, along with the installation of a new house trap and clean outs per Allegheny County Health Department regulations. They were extremely responsive and professional with their work, and Nathan provided updates as to the progress of the work and what the next steps would be. Along with a professional product, they did the work at a significant cost savings compared to others. I would highly recommend Krupp Whitney, and would gladly use them again should the need arise.
Lori A.Criminals. I paid $125 for someone to lie to me. The ""plumber"" told me that the part needed to fix my water heater would be $400 from the Supply Company. He stated that the entire assembly needed to be changed, not just the thermocouple. And, since the heater was 10 years old, he gave me a quote for $985 for a new one. After he left, my daughter called Rheem and was told that the issue was probably the thermocouple and that you did not have to get the entire assembly. My daughter called the Supply Company. The thermocouple was $52. The assembly was $129....that same part that the ""plumber"" said was $400. The thermocouple was ordered for $52, and I have hot water. This company cannot be trusted. They wanted me to spend either $400 on a unnecessary part, or almost $1000 on a new tank.
Mark G.We hired Krupp and Whitney to do a camera test of our sewer line.
They determined that our trap was improperly installed and that there was too much debris to run the camera through. Then gave us an estimate to re-install the trap and clear the debris of $2700. Meanwhile, they did not bring a drain snake to the site, nor did they suggest that this might be an option.
We hired another company two weeks later. For $300, they snaked the sewer line and ran the camera, no problem.
I don't know if it was a misunderstanding, or incompetence, or malfeasance, but I can't say I would trust an estimate from this company in the future, nor would I recommend using them.
Rachael H.Krupp Whitney came to our home closing to do a sewer inspection, and I was so impressed with their ease of scheduling that we used them to repair our sewer line. Everyone I worked with and met at Krupp Whitney was fantastic. Very professional, they use email (and respond quickly!), and transparent. I don't know a ton about plumbing services, but if we ever need anything else, Nathan would be the first person I'd call.
Thanks everyone!!
Arlene M.Sometimes the best services are located in your own neighborhood without even realizing it. I had been having trouble with a toilet latch value and called them last week. Originally scheduled an apt for Wed morning but when I woke up this morning, the latch had broken.
I called them and a serviceman named Tim came out to help me the same day. They do have 24 hour answering service but if you can hold out until the weekdays then obviously you save money.
He diagnosed the problem, asked me if I still wanted a white handle which I replied yes and then went and got one for me. Toilet working again. My bill came to $145.00 so I needed that explained to me. I was told that the majority of it was for the service call and of course the part which they get at one of their plumbing supply stores. He told me they don't use a home improvement chain since I know we have a Busy Beaver in the Crafton Ingram Shopping Center. He also told me they don't charge ""drive time"" costs just to come to your home.
I asked about the repair warranty and was told it was a year. I paid it and discussed a problem I tend to have on occasion with my bathroom sink getting clogged with soap scum. He told me to call anytime and they would be glad to look at it.
I wasn't given a price estimate before the work but sometimes that's the nature of the beast. I like the fact that they are located near the Ingram bus way stop so it's only a 5 minute drive to my Crafton home and I can get service fairly quickly.
Time will tell as I utilize their services for my plumbing needs to see how efficient and cost saving this company is to me. They offer everything you would possibly need including replacement hot water tanks. Tim was very friendly to me and very professional. So far I am pleased with the work accomplished within a reasonable amount of time.
Rachel C.We seem to have more plumbing issues than any other house related service. We've used three different plumbing services. I used Patrick E Chase Plumbing and he was spotty with communication and did an okay job. Then we used South Hills Plumbing and they fixed an issue that needed fixed 2 years later. Was this their fault or regular wear and tear, not sure. Then we used Mr. Rooter for a major emergency with our pipes in the basement and they were mega expensive and spotty with communication so I was ready to try another company.
I called late in the day and they returned my call the next day, but didn't have an appointment until 2 days later. Our toilet was broken, but we have another one so It wasn't an emergency situation. The guy that showed up was super nice, professional and quick. I truly appreciate that he explained the issue and fixed another one that he noticed, which I truly believe wasn't an up-charge, but needed fixed. The cost was $185 for the two issues, plus service. Mr. Rooter quoted me $250, plus parts. So clearly this company was less... and Rooter came to my house and tried to convince me to just get a new toilet for $350+. No thanks!
I will definitely call them again for non-emergency situations!
