I began my plumbing career as an apprentice in Culver City, California in 1972. By 1977, I established my own plumbing company in Marina Del Rey, California, specializing in new builds. I closed that business in 1978 and relocated to Palm Springs, California. I began working at Barrett Plumbing, a well-known plumbing company in the valley back then. I continued there until 1980, when I made the decision to start my own business again. This time, I partnered with Chuck Barrett, the grandson of Barrett Plumbing's owner. This led to the creation of the name KC's 23 1/2 Hour Plumbing. I took over Chuck's share in 1980, and KC's 23 1/2 Hour Plumbing has continued to serve the Valley.
We have been providing service to our clients for over three decades. Service and repair have always been my true passion, rather than new builds. I love getting to know my clients and treating them as if they are family.

KC plumbing says that they stand behind their work, however, they don't. They hooked up a brand new tankless hot water heater in July 2023. A few days later we started getting large amounts of water underneath the kitchen sink. I called KC out again and the plumber, Freddie, said it had absolutely nothing to do with the install of the tankless hot water heater. He said basically there's nothing he can do until I found the source of the leak. Being a busy mom with five kiddos, I tried my best to find the source of the leak but I couldn't. On Friday we woke up to a flooded kitchen. I called Roto router and they came right out, jackhammered the tiles and the concrete, and found that KC Plumbing tied into an existing AC drip line instead of running a new line for the tankless hot water heater. I called Bruce, the general manager to see how they would like to handle the large invoice that I received to fix their mistake; he hung up on me and said, ""see you in court."" I do not recommend their services. Very unprofessional.

Erick Ortiz was early, very polite, very informative. Analyzed my problem and gave me options. This second time I used KC's 23 1/2 House Plumbing and I recommend them highly.

I had issues with my water heater. I called around 7:30 in the morning and they had a technician at my home within an hour. It was determined that I would need a new one. And it was pretty obvious that such was the case once I got a look at the old one. Anyway, after acquiring a new water heater, Jesse returned and installed it and took away the old one. Jesse was very courteous and professional. I recommend KC's 23 1/2 Hour Plumbing and in particular, Jesse.

Called for tankless water heater repair. The service person said the parts would take three weeks (found out later they have the parts at Lowes), but he could install a new water heater the next day. The price was a little steep, but he said SoCal Gas has a $1,000 rebate. Installed the next day. He said he had already submitted the rebate. Called 3-4 months later checking on the rebate. Was told the service person would call me. Called 3 weeks later. Was told the service person would call me. Still no contact. I contacted SoCal Gas and they said nobody had applied for a rebate on my account. Said it was too late for me to submit one. KC's just keeps avoiding me. Inexcusable.

Oh my gosh did I ever get ripped off. During a brief heatwave in Cathedral City, my brand-new tenants called me and said the a/c was not working. I was out of town and desperate to help them so I called the first company that came up with an online search. The technician arrived the next afternoon and promptly called me to tell me that I should buy a new unit. He quoted me between $13,000 to $14,000! The house is only 1100 sq ft. I told him that was way too much and just to fix it and get it running and cold again.
He put in 6 lbs of R410A Freon (he said he did but I have no way of proving it) and charged me $221 lb. Total cost $1326.
I was told I could apply this cost to a purchase of a new unit at $14000. After the guy finished and left I checked with two other local companies that would have done the same work for 1/3 of the cost. Additionally, the other companies quoted between $8500 to 9000 for the same replacement unit, not $14,000!
I was definitely taken advantage of. The bottom line is to take some time to do a little research before selecting the first company you see online. And don't hire a plumbing company to work on your a/c!

I found KCs through Angie's. Lucky me. Within minutes from submitting my inquiry to Angie's, I received a call from Amber at KCs to schedule my service call - within the hour! Service tech Dana was terrific - very professional and informative, and gave us complete confidence in his inspection and assessment of the problem (a new and worrisome gas odor when we lit our gas fireplace). it was a pleasure doing business with KCs. We will not hesitate to use them again and have already recommended them to several neighbors.

I called KC's at 9:06am this morning (Friday) to see if someone could come to my home and install a gas line for my gas fireplace.
I'm having relatives over this weekend and wanted to have the fireplace available.
I told them I have the line plus the H burner, I just need it installed.
I realized it was last minute but they gave me a window of 11am to 1 pm for a plumber to come out.
Awesome.
At 2 pm I called them as no one had come.
I was told they had a glitch in the system so my ""order"" was lost.
Right.
I called 3 other plumbing companies to see if they could do the work and they understandably are all booked until Monday.
So now I can't use my fireplace this weekend.
The thing is I have a list of plumbing jobs that I need done and I will not be calling KC's.
So they lost out on future business with me.

Company came to clear the line of a blockage in our system. They had said it was cleared and a day later the issue was the same after one shower. Called the company to address the issue which was obviously not handled and Casey the ""owner"" of said company was absolutely rude due to his staff not wanting to show up on super bowl weekend. He arrived to our resident with a condescending attitude, came in to our home basically talking to us like we were an incontinence and stated that the service was not under warranty because there were roots found in the line. When they finished the job the previous day they said their was a blockage and did not mention roots so I asked where they documented this and he showed us a picture of brown toilet paper and whips. None of the items in the picture resembled roots, but than again I am not a professional plumber. We called other local companies all staying the work should have been covered under warranty due to it being only a day after the original work was completed. We will never use this company again and I would suggest people beware of this businesses ethics and policies. Casey please do yourself a favor and take some costumer service classes because yours was appalling and you should never enter someones home with such negativity.

Jesse repaired our upstairs toilet leak expertly along with the cracked pipe below in lower bathroom. And we were impressed with his most helpful and friendly attitude. We will definitely keep calling KC Plumbing :)
