In 1972, I started as a plumbing apprentice in Culver City, California. In 1977, I launched my own plumbing business in Marina Del Rey, California, focusing primarily on new construction. In 1978, I closed that business and moved to Palm Springs, California. I began working at Barrett Plumbing, a well-known plumbing company in the valley back then. I continued there until 1980, when I made the decision to start my own business again. This time, I teamed up with Chuck Barrett, the owner's grandson. This led to the creation of the name KC's 23 1/2 Hour Plumbing. I took over Chuck's share in 1980, and KC's 23 1/2 Hour Plumbing has continued to serve the Valley.

We have been providing service to our clients for over three decades. My passion has always been in service and repair, not new construction. I enjoy building relationships with my clients, treating them like family.

TERRIBLE. Came to do a job and in all honesty, it was a decent job. Asked to quote a second job and the price came in reasonably so I agreed and had it scheduled. On that scheduled day, he showed up and another worker coughed. He left for fear of COVID. I completely understand. However, 4 days went by and no return. So I called the office, assured there was no COVID due to a rapid test and please schedule him to return as he knew the job. The company AGREED to the schedule and it was set. Guess who never showed on the Friday to do the work? IRATE, Saturday I was given an answer by the answering service a call back within 5 minutes. Many MANY calls and two and a half hours later I received a return call.

They weren't going to come due to COVID. I again assured no COVID and offered to provide results. TOO BAD, NOT COMING. This cost me nearly $2,000 for paying weekend pay and emergency to have a job done on Sunday because new countertops were being installed on Monday.

DO NOT USE THEM. UNPROFESSIONAL. NO FOLLOW THROUGH. A COMPLETE AND UDDER JOKE.

Had a water filtration system that we had purchased installed. Technician showed up an hour late, but very nice once he arrived. Quoted 369.00 to install the small under the counter osmosis system and told me he gave me a deal, as normally this would cost 400.00. Took 1 hour to actually do the install , the rest of the time was for set up and figuring out billing

I had two new faucets on hand that I had purchased and planned to have installed. Technician quoted 269.00 for bathroom faucet change out and 199.00 for single handle sink faucet change out.

Thought this pricing seemed high for time spent ,easily 200.00/hr labor rate. We are on a budget, so can not afford to use them in the future. If cost is not a consideration then I'm sure you would be satisfied. I was told they base their rates are flat rates, but they will not quote over the phone.

No show for three days then when they finally show to repair a dripping valve they wanted $350.
I looked on line for a 'how to do it' and fixed it myself in 30 seconds.
While the tech was here he tried to sell me a water heater. What a scammer. Avoid this company at all costs.
DISHONEST!

Ask for Chris Hackett. He effectively and efficiently provided a solution for us. Chris was able to properly install a valve and fittings for our natural gas grill. After two non professional attempts we called KC's. Glad we got Chris. He's our go to guy now for future service calls.

Our water heater decided to flood our garage on Sunday at 4PM! After turning off the hot water for the evening we waited until the next morning and called the company the home warranty company said was to help per the contract. I was informed that I would have to wait until they called ME to schedule an appointment. Three hours later they finally called and said I could be seen the FOLLOWING MONDAY!

Umm NO!

I called KC's 23 1/2 Hour Plumbing and Amber informed me that she could have a tech out that afternoon! Yay. An hour later she called me and said he had finished his previous job and could come right then if we were available. Of course! Well Abraham showed up 20 minutes later. After reviewing the water heater and discussing our options, it was time to invest in a new one. He said let me run to the warehouse and get it, you will have hot water tonight! He was gone 30 minutes and returned with the new water heater. He then replaced our old one, cleaned out the area that had been damaged by the leak, installed the new water heater (with copper piping!) and removed the old heater for recycling. The water was running hot before he left for the evening. Abraham did an amazing job and was extremely considerate in making sure we were helped and happy. He was extremely knowledgeable and informative and if we have any plumbing issues in the future we will be sure to call KC's and request him for any service we might need.

When all was said and done we might have overpaid for the water heater but we paid for the convenience of getting hot water running again in less than 24 hours after disaster and for us it was worth every cent.

These are the kind of guys that give plumbers a bad name. I had them over to see if they could tighten two faucets and replace two valves on the bathroom sinks. The faucets had come loose over the years and I can no longer do the job myself. Dana took a quick look under the sinks and informed me that they could not be tightened but would have to be replaced. He showed me some sample faucets on his iPhone but said they were not really good so he suggested that I buy faucets myself at Home Depot and they would install them. And, by the way, I would have to pay them $200 each faucet (corkage?) in addition to the labor cost. Altogether the job would have cost about $750 plus the money I would've put out to buy new faucets at Home Depot. Dana then proceeded to walk around the house inspecting the water heater which he said should be replaced with a tankless water heater and, by the way it would be smart to get a water softening system too. My current water heater is only a year old and was installed by KC's though I don't think he realized that.

Today I had an honest plumber out who proceeded to tighten both faucets for $135 total. He said the current faucets were in great shape and did not have to be replaced. (See my review of Robinson's Plumbing.)

KC 23 1/2 plumbing just installed a tankless water heater. They were prompt, efficient and priced reasonably. Dana, the installer, was informative, friendly, and professional.

I had a corroded Gas pipe outside near the meter.
Made a call Tuesday late afternoon to KC Gas & Plumming located in Palm Springs
702 Eugene Rd, Palm Springs, CA 92264.
(760) 327-8718
They sent out Nicholas witch was great, he described exactly what had to be done and how much the job would coast. We agreed....
Now the Best part....
The very next morning at 9:o'clock
Gary and Genaro with KC Gas & Plumming showed up and with having to break up a bunch of concrete, dig down two feet replace with a Brand new gas pipe and warp with Anti corrosive tape connect pipe to home gas pipe refill the whole and ALL in ONE DAY..... AND.....All this happened the day before Thanksgiving.....
Gary & Genaro were absolutely Outstanding.
They were all about the Customer...
I don't give out 5 Stars to any place or anyone,
however KC Gas & Plumming along with Nicholas, Gary and Genaro are the exception....

Had tankless water heater installed. Responsiveness, workmanship, promptness I give 5 stars. Have to give 3 stars for communications. Technician described various WH model options and I was left with the impression that since I was buying the top of the line model all features would be available (instant hot water). Was not until install was complete that I learned it would take the addition of another piece of equipment (at a cost of $500 more) to get the full system. This was the first time the additional equipment was mentioned. Since I do not plan to spend more on the WH, I would have purchased the lower tier model and saved a couple hundred dollars. So either errors in completeness of information occurred or I was up-sold unknowingly. Nevertheless, I am happy with the service and the work done, but attention should be given to provide more complete information when presenting options. Mr. Russum, since it appears that you read these reviews, I suggest you remind you technicians to slow down when describing options to ensure your customers understand the differences and what they are getting before work begins.

***** This is an update to my original post (app. 48 hours later)*****

I contacted the KC office and was able to speak with a GM about my confusion on the purchased WH. The GM was very open to hear my thoughts and agreed to look into the situation. I was contacted an hour of so later by the original technician and we discussed options to resolve my concern so that I would be completely happy with the install. By the end of the call, a resolution was reached and I am completely satisfied with the matter.

Based on the responsiveness of the company and the ultimate resolution of my issue, I now would rate the service as 5 star. Errors and/or mis-understandings can occur, to me what really reveals the level of integrity for a company is how it responds when such matters arise. I can positively say that this company and their technicians stand behind their work and seek to resolve customer satisfaction issues that arise. Full respect. Highly recommend.
