I began my plumbing career as an apprentice in Culver City, California in 1972. In 1977, I started my own plumbing venture in Marina Del Rey, California, mainly working on new construction. In 1978, I closed that business and moved to Palm Springs, California. I then joined Barrett Plumbing, which was one of the most reputable plumbing companies in the valley at that time. I stayed there until 1980, when I chose to return to business. This time, I partnered with Chuck Barrett, the grandson of Barrett Plumbing's owner. This is how we decided on the name KC's 23 1/2 Hour Plumbing. I took over Chuck's share in 1980, and KC's 23 1/2 Hour Plumbing has continued to serve the Valley.
For more than 30 years, we have been dedicated to our clients. I have always preferred service and repair over new construction. I love getting to know my clients and treating them as if they are family.

called switchboard tina spoke over me i could not get a word in edge wise..very bad comunication..went with another company who had better phone etiquette.
they came and fixed my running toilet. at least that's what they told me. after they left it did not flush correctly. i called the office 3 times and each time i was promised a return call. never happened. now each tune i try to flush my toilet, i think of them and there terrible customer service. unacceptable! i will never use or recommend them.
Our water heater had never been drained or flushed in 16 years by the prior owners of our house and the hard water created stones that sounded like rocks bouncing around inside it when one used a lot of hot water. We were concerned it was damaging the hot water heater. We called KC and they sent out Casey at no charge. Casey spent a lot of time explaining the whole problem in clear and understandable detail and said that eventually we should do something and recommended 4 different alternatives for a replacement. Casey was extremely professional and a no pressure type person. He said we would take our time, there was no rush, gave us some informative brochures (as to replacement alternatives), emailed us detailed estimates of the 4 alternatives and, though we are going to wait to do the work (it's tax time right now), when we can we will want Casey back from KC to do the work.
We needed our sewer line cleared. Kcs came to our house to have that done. 1 week later, we were having the same problem again. Instead of doing the right thing and fixing the problem they had already been paid to do, they charged me again to do the same job. I have had kcs do some major plumbing work on our house in the past and felt like a friend had thrown me under the bus.
Vee Z.Called late at night to get a price quote, Anthony was the one who came out in the morning. He was great, friendly, and knowledgeable. Gave me a quote, but I was living town so I'll use them when I get back, highly recommended
Wonderful P.I scheduled an appointment for estimate. Then they called in and re-scheduled. The next day, I've been waiting, but they are a no-show. Their excuse? They cancelled me because I didn't pickup the phone when they called me. I was on a very important call and couldn't answer. Any decent business should leave a message or try to call me back again. I know they called me twice while I was on the phone (back to back). Then they simply cancel?? I guess you people are very unreliable. I could why their have 3.5 star rating (on another listing). They must have recreated a new listing because they have a bad review. Clean slate or otherwise, these people deserve a bad review.
Nick A.They have always answered the phone. And scheduled people to help us right away. We did have a little bit of a hiccup when some work that was done needed to be adjusted a couple days later. But they sent out the same guy and he fixed the problem at no charge. No plumber is ever going to be perfect, but this company is providing service above and beyond what we have gotten anywhere else.
Saif E.Would have been nice to give this place a good review but I scheduled this appointment last week for today with them knowing full well that I was driving out from Orange County for my vacation rental to replace two outside faucets. It isn't easy to schedule appointments when you are fully booked with renters. They then call at 8:30am after I already drove out for the 10am appointment claiming the tech they scheduled had a hotel emergency to deal with. So I can see where I stand in line. If you have an appointment you made you can rest assured that you will not have any priority and that a large company only has one tech? No thank you.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I am an architect and I have had a lot of interaction with plumbers. This outfit is the WORST EVER. I was the first appointment on day 1 and they didn't show. I was first appointment the next day and they showed at 11:30. I had to call them to find out why they weren't there as scheduled. I originally called them to test a gas line for leaks and the guy who showed had no equipment to do any testing and was not informed as to why he was even there. Additionally I had a leaky toilet shutoff valve and told the plumber to replace all 5 of them in the house. He wanted almost a thousand $ for 5 valves/installation!!!!! This is criminal. I had him fix the one that was leaking and he charged $185. PLUS, he overtightened the hose connection and jammed the float mechanism into the tank and it would not stop running. I wasted hours for this company to show up; they were unprepared for the issue I called them about; they have highway robbery prices, and I had to repair their repair. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
Stuart K.I'm a couple weeks late writing this review but, KC was a life saver for me. I had to call SoCalGas a few weeks ago as my gas supply had mysteriously stopped - no hot water; no dry laundry; no gas range - and I was leaving town in 2 days. When I called SCG, after verifying that my bills were all paid up, they said it would take up to 36 hours to get someone on-site. Thankfully within 3 hours, a technician arrived and found that my earthquake gas shut-off had been triggered - still not sure by whom. (As I am the new homeowner, I didn't even know I had an earthquake shut-off and I might have caused it myself but, not admitting to anything.) Anyway, the SCG Tech reset the emergency trip valve and then decided to test my gas line. He found a slight leak but, because one of the 3 gas lines that branched away from the main meter did not have an isolation shut off valve, he red-tagged me (shut off my gas) until the valve could be installed. I called several plumbing companies begging to get someone out the next day to install the iso valve. No one could accommodate me; not even KC's *BUT*, Tina (the scheduler and the nicest person you could want to talk to when under duress) said she would do her best to get someone out sooner - like if there were a cancellation. Well, within 3 hours she called me to say their plumber Nicholas would be able to come help out. Nicholas called shortly thereafter to say he was on his way. He showed up soon after and in less than 30 minutes had installed the necessary iso valve. Then, I had to get SCG back to turn on my gas. Once again, they said it would be up to 36 hours (by this point), I was leaving town in about 18 hours. And once again, I got a call from an SCH Tech within less than 3 hours who said he was in my neighborhood and could stop by. He got the gas turned on and determined that the leak was going to a line that did not seem to be connected to any appliance so, he capped it off and left. Within the span of 24 hours, I had gone from no-gas (cold water; cold food; wet laundry) to life-as-usual and I owe a great debt of gratitude to KC's 23 1/2 Plumbing who played an instrumental role in helping to get my life back on track quickly and painlessly. I'm now getting KC's to quote me on a water conditioning system.
