Some of the techs do a good job the only problem I have with this company is when the tech finishes the he wants to sell you other services,I think they should do the job and ask the customer is there anything else they can do,most of the time the additional services they want to sell you is not cheap.

My A/C went out on Sunday. I called Jon Wayne and the lady said they were all booked for Sunday and the earliest appointment was for Monday at noon. My family wasn't happy they had to spend a day without central air but Jon Wayne is who serviced it before I bought the house.

I call Monday at 10am and the scheduling lady didn't know of an appointment for today. I was upset but I gave her the benefit of the doubt and had her send someone or call me with a new appointment. No one called it was now 1pm. I called back and Jon Wayne had nothing in their system for an appointment today. I CALLED 3 TIMES and no one entered an appointment to look at my A/C unit.

I love how they answer the phone with, "How can I make you smile today." How ironic!

TERRIBLE!!!!

I too was ripped off by John Wayne AC company! Requested a tune up and was told the "DVA" part needed to be replaced and it was vital to keeping my bill down. My husband wasn't here and said yes. $400 later I looked online for anything about the cost and the need for a DVA part and couldn't find anything!!! I stopped payment on my check and will only be paying for the tune up!!!! Stay away from them!!

Yea, they replaced an old unit of mine, with a new unit in 2012. Then last year, I had my unit checked and the repairman told me that the unit was to big for my ducts and insulation. I asked them why this happened and the salesman seemed less than forthcoming. I blame myself for not getting a second opinion. I feel that company has an aggressive sales force, but, I can not complain about the quality of their work..That's why I gave them a 2...

Everyone I talked with at Jon Wayne Air Conconditioning was pleasant, helpful, and knowledge. Such a delight to have an air conditioning company that is so willing to help.

I called John Wayne last night when my heater stopped working. The technician was scheduled to come out this morning between 8 and 12. I got a call at 7:45 saying he was on his way, he did not arrive until 9:30. Which is fine, because it was well within the given time frame, but it would have been nice to know I had nearly 2 hours until he would actually be at my house.
Now onto the repairs....I had trouble with my heater the previous week. At this time my husband (who is in the electrical field) replaced the transformer that cost $30 from Agees. What he didn't know was that there was a short somewhere in the system, which ultimately caused the transformer to go out again. The John Wayne technician told me that it would be $580 to find the short and replace the transformer. He told me the transformer alone costs $400 through John Wayne. It's a $30 part, people!! When I asked him why it was so much he said, "I'm selling my service, not discounted parts. I hate to tell you, but you wasted $30." At that point I paid the $58 service fee and went on with my day. I will be calling Agees on Monday.

I would rate them lower but there is no other option.

They are incredibly unresponsive when needing help. My husband has handicap issues and not having our AC functioning, after only 2 years, is unacceptable, especially late August/early September.

Customer service is not their strength, they seem not to care about the customer. The best way to make money is all they seem to care about. You seem to have to force their hand to get them to do what they should.

The man that answered the phone was unwilling to locate the status of the warranty on my unit and stated a service call could not be scheduled until Tuesday-today is Sunday. Then after I had another company come perform the simple repair they called to say my unit was under warranty and they could come make the repair. Until they realized I was taking my business elsewhere, they were unavailable.

If I had not been in the position I was in when upgrading my system I would not have used them. And when the time comes to give a recommendation regarding them when asked by anyone I guarantee I would never give a positive one.

Wow - having read some of the previous reviews I'm wondering if we're talking about the same company. Our A/C went out yesterday morning and the temp inside was climbing. When it hit 79 degrees at around 1:00 I called Jon Wayne Air to ask about getting a service call scheduled. The gal on the phone was very pleasant and said she had a tech who could be here before 4pm. They called me about 20 minutes prior to the tech showing up to say he was on his way and Jason arrived somewhere just short of 3pm. He was very pleasant, professional, and although it had started to rain he got to work looking at the units both in the attic and outside. After checking out the units, he offered us several options for repairs, allowing US to choose which option we wanted. He explained every option in detail, going over all points and when my husband asked what Jason would recommend, Jason responded that it was really up to us and how much we wanted to put into the unit. He did NOT try to sell us the most expensive repairs, but rather simply explained what each option entailed, which we appreciated. After we selected our plan for repairs, Jason got to work and had the unit up and running, putting out cool air within about an hour.

Maybe the negative reviews had to do with poor technicians, but we had a very good experience with this company yesterday and with the technician. After having another A/C company tell us we needed to spend $9,000 for a new unit back in May, it was a nice change to have a company out that didn't try to sell us the biggest, newest, most expensive thing they sell. Based on our experience yesterday I would definitely recommend this company. They guarantee their work, give you discounts for future purchases and offer a variety of plans for maintenance and repairs.

At the end of a hot day in August 2013, my AC stopped blowing cold and by 7PM it was 80 degrees in the house. I called the number on my AC unit from when it was installed, and Jon Wayne Heating and Air Conditioning answered, as they had purchased the number when the other company went out of business. They could not come that night but could send a technician to perform an 'evaluation' between 8AM and Noon the next day for $29. I agreed.
The next morning, the AC unit was mysteriously working again, and the house was back at 72 degrees, but I still wanted the evaluation.
The Jon Wayne AC tech showed about 12:20PM. I was anxious, as I had a meeting scheduled in Austin at 3PM, and needed to leave town by 1:15-1:30 at the latest.
He spent 50 minutes in the evaluation, then showed me that my AC unit was very clogged inside, and used a geiger-counter kind of mechanism with lights to say I had an area leaking freon, so the real need was to replace the entire coil. He said he needed to go out to his truck and arrange an estimate for me. I let him know I needed to leave, soon.
While he was estimating, I called my realtor, as I planned to put my house on the market the following month. The realtor said if the coil replacement estimate was more than $900, to call his source, and he gave me an alternate AC contact. I also looked online for coil replacement costs, and the consensus was that depending on the size of the unit, it can run $1000 to $2200.
It was 1:15PM and the Jon Wayne tech had not come in, yet, so I went out to him. His estmate was for $4225! As this was more than twice the highest I had seen in my research, I paid the $29 and sent him on his way. He did offer a simple 'air movement' service for $1260, before he left.
I called the realtor-referred AC person, and he BURST OUT LAUGHING at the quote for coil replacement from Jon Wayne Heating and AC. He sent a tech out, who also evaluated and quoted me $430 to remove the unit and completely clean it out and re-install it, and said since I am selling, that should be fine. If I wanted to replace the coil, the total, including cleaning, would be $860.
I scheduled the cleaning and they arrived on time and the unit is working perfectly.
BEWARE Jon Wayne Heating and Air Conditioning having you at their mercy on a hot day when your AC is out!

they came into my home for a estimate on upgrading my unit. JJ didnt even ask me what I wanted to do nor did he want to look at my unit until he finished his "sales pitch". He was more worried trying to get me to agree to their service instead of trying to put something together for me. Tried to sell me a product that was $18,000 but wouldnt tell me what the brand name I am paying for. The one thing that pissed me off more then anything he wanted to talk about financing before we came up with an idea of what I wanted and what needed to be done. what a scam artist. very unprofessional. Save your sales pitch and build report with the customer first JJ. You never start with a sales pitch. Know your customers better before you even think about asking for info like social security number and all that. I cant believe he had enough balls to talk about calling the finance companies to get approved before we even talked about products. What a scumbag!
