Established in 1960, Johnson Plumbing specializes in plumbing services tailored for residential and commercial clients. We cater to the plumbing needs of residents in Merced and Mariposa counties, California. Our company supplies various plumbing fixtures and related products, including swamp coolers, water heaters, and purification and softening systems. Our inventory features products from leading brands such as Kohler, Moen, American Standard, Price Pfister, Delta, Eljer, Chicago Faucets, and Zern. Our expertise lies in the installation and repair of toilets, gas lines, faucets, disposals, and grease traps. We also provide services like video pipe inspection, leak detection, root removal, and replacement. We also provide drain cleaning, maintenance, remodeling, and emergency services available 24/7.
The business started as Sid Johnson Plumbing from 1960 until 1972, when it became Johnson Plumbing with the full-time involvement of Greg Johnson, our current president. In 1981, we took the step to incorporate, becoming Johnson Plumbing, Inc. Initially focused on new construction, we shifted our focus to service work in 2000; if it involves gas, water, or drains, we handle it and are fully licensed and bonded. Scott Johnson represents the third generation working here, and his son Andrew is set to join us this summer, marking the fourth generation. We boast a great team with a lot of expertise! Hi, I’m Greg Johnson, owner of Johnson Plumbing, Inc. I’ve been involved in this business since I was five, following my dad around. I naturally gravitated towards it, loving to hold the flashlight and hand him tools and fittings. In fact, my first-grade show-and-tell was about a thermocouple used in a water heater! I began at the bottom as soon as I could; you could say I was a ditch digger, LOL. We didn’t have a backhoe back then; I was the backhoe! I thought trenchers were a myth until my dad hired one; I wondered why I was digging by hand! I believe he was just building character in me. He was recognized for being fair and honest; I hope we continue that tradition. He was the most dedicated worker you could meet, and I’m proud to call him my dad. After high school, I joined the business full-time, married a fantastic woman named Sharon Fauver, and we have two sons, each with four children. We adore them all. Reach out to us today!

I had Johnson Plumbing come out to my house just because the faucet was leaking, and review seems to be ok. The faucet was not too old, so I was hoping that we only need to replace the cartridge. Of course, they did not recommend that, and suggested to replace the faucet. It was ok, and we paid $429.67 to replace the faucet to save the trouble. I did not realize the true trouble came after that, they started to send second bill of $128.50 for trouble shooting the issue. I told them I did not need them to trouble shoot a leaking faucet. Then, they keep sending this diagnostics bill and threaten to send the bill to collection.

I'm writing since my call to Greg Johnson has not been returned as staff indicated he would. It would have been much easier to explain my dismay over a phone call than to write an account of my experience. Johnson Plumbing (JP)has always been the one and only plumbers for me to call since my family has lived in this house for 43 years. I've trusted the firm since JP originally plumbed the subdivision I live in and the past workers were very qualified and reliable. Needless to say, I felt that JP was a dependable company. Last January, I paid for JP to replace my kitchen faucet which I had purchased elsewhere. The plumber that came to represent the firm replaced the faucet but left caulking (probably not the correct term) oozing out around the faucet and the faucet became increasingly loose during the months that followed. These are COVID times and I was fearful of calling to have it fixed but I did call to have the faucet tightened and a hose leaking under the sink. The gentlemen that recently came to fix the faucet stated that the plumber who had fixed the sink was basically incompetent and was released and apologized for his job. These gentlemen replaced the leaking hose and if one hose leaks, the other hose will probably have difficulty too, but they stated that they could not take the hose off and therefor, did not replace it. When I paid for their service call, I paid under protest because I was required to pay for the incompetent plumber's job on this service call. A person's work always represents the character of the person and in this case, the firm he works for. I am truly disappointed in the current service being provided by what seems to be under qualified service people representing JP.

I had the emergency need for a plumber twice in two weeks. Johnson plumbing showed up on time they were kind and courteous, very fairly priced and honest. I highly recommend Johnson plumbing to anyone in the Merced a Atwater area. I would like to explain what I mean by fairly priced and honest. I had another company (Rotorooter) come out and provided me with a quote for $2300 to locate the clean out and snake the clean out. They also said it would take two days....
Johnson plumbing completed the job for $200 and the job was completed in two hours.
Thank you again Johnson Plumbing!

I had an unfortunate leak in the upstairs bathroom leaking onto the downstairs living room! David from Johnson plumbing came that same day, explained everything for me very well. He did a great job and got it all fixed in a couple of hours. Super friendly. And knowledgeable and explained things to me very well. I highly recommend David from Johnson plumbing :) thank you!!!

I had Johnson plumbing come out to my house because my dishwasher was getting backed up with water. They checked under the sink and the dishwasher. He said the lines were fine and that
I needed a new dish washer.
I had only lived in my house 2 yrs and I know the dishwasher was less than 4 yrs old. The dish washer always worked and that wasn't the problem it was the back up of water that would cause concern for me.
When I ran the dishwasher the water would drain out. I figured that it was the air gap I didn't have( thank god for Google) instead of going out and spending $800 for a new dishwasher they suggested.
I had another person look at it and he changed the hose with a new one and added an air gap I didn't have. I'm so glad I had enough common sense not to go out and buy a new dishwasher. I would of had the same problem with the new one since it wasn't the dishwasher at all, I just needed a air gap.
I'm thankful I didn't get a new dishwasher and have to pay someone to install it. That would of been a huge expense on my part. So disappointed that they had no brains at all to figure out but I did.
I Google everything these days you have to or people take advantage of you cause they know you have no idea of what's going on.

Rude customer service. Impatient people working there. Asking clarification questions, and the lady had a rude tone of voice.

Mother recently passed and I took over her home. Had some serious plumbing issues and saw she contacted Johnson Plumbing before. They came out one evening and did quick work. They returned to give me a better idea and quote on fixing the issue(s). What a waste of time. I don't live in Merced and it was such a hassle trying to get any questions answered about what the real issue was.
Quoted me over $8,000-$15,000 to replace a pipe. So of course I called another company for another quote. My mom had been using Johnson Plumbing for who knows how long.
In 1 week, the other company gave me a quote and got the work completely done, for 1/3 of the price Johnson Plumbing quoted.
I give some stars because they were available to come out during an emergency, but took stars away because it was too much of a hassle to try to get to the root of the situation.
No wonder my mom called them often, they had a long term customer in her because they never really took care of the issues. In Merced, there are other plumbers available, get a 2nd quote/opinion and you'll see other companies want to help fix your issue not just keep you as a forever customer.

Called for service and they answered promptly. They were able to come out same day. They gave a 2 hour window and actually showed up in that time window. The tech was knowledgeable and helpful. Patient and responsive in answering my questions. And they got the job done! Highly recommend.

I have used Johnson's Plumbing for years. I've always got a great price and fast service. They changed out my entire drain from home to street in one day at a cost lower than any other. I have called them numerous times for plugged drains. Their response time is always within a few hours. Yesterday, the poor service guy was working in 100+ degree weather. He was nice. He completely cleaned the entire drain. And he cleaned the entire area before he left. Great Way To Keep Customers.

Very courteous, professional and reasonable. Fixed the problem with my shower when previous plumber abandoned job. Thank you!!
