I am a 91 year old widow living on Social Security benefits. I called this company because my AC stopped working during the August, 2020 heat wave. I was told the service call would be $89. The man come out and immediately found the cause of the problem was a bad fuse. He put a new fuse in and everything worked fine. He was there about 15 minutes at most. I was charged $279. I feel that I was taken advantage of, to say the least! I will not be calling John Stevenson Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning again!

Alex looked at my sump, unplugged and plugged in the pump (nothing happened), looked down the sump vent (saw water), and declared I needed a new pump. Then he told me I needed a check valve, too. Total estimate: $2300. Oh yes, and I should buy their monthly service plan to get a discount on this repair.
All this without even looking inside to see what kind of pump was there, testing the electrical outlet to see if it was faulty, or even knowing how big the sump was. It turns out all that was needed was basic maintenance and root removal -- as the company that did do the work said, ""Why replace a perfectly good pump?"" And I already did have a check valve!
I do not recommend John Stevenson Plumbing. I am supposed to get my $89 fee refunded after I told them I should not have to pay for a tech who lied to me and tried to con me out of $2300.
UPDATE: They told me they would refund my fee, and then I posted this review. After it went live, I received a call telling me that because I posted a negative review, I would no longer get my refund. !!!
Yelp, is this the way the process works?
NEXT UPDATE: When they told me I would no longer get a refund, I asked to speak to the manager. He was ""in a meeting"" and she ""didn't know his schedule"" but he would ""call me after that."" (Read that in my sarcasm font; I know delay tactics when I hear them.) He never called; he had no interest in trying to work this out together or even hearing my side.
So I filed a complaint with my credit card company. At first the cc help person thought it would not work out for me, but when she heard they refused my refund **because I posted a negative Yelp review**, she was shocked.
FINAL VERDICT: I'm getting my refund.
John Stevenson Plumbing's technician never looked at my sump set up, guessed at the volume of the sump, decided I needed a 2.5 HP pump and a check valve. Cost: $2300. The reality: the 1/2 HP pump was fine, I had a check valve, and all the sump needed was some maintenance. Cost: $200.
Save yourself some grief and stress. Stay away from this company.

Exellent, professional contractor to hire. Mike the Technician is Exceptional. He is a very skilled workman. I am very pleased to say ""a job well done."" Thank you, George M.

Customer beware. We did our research, provided the scheduler the name of the reverse osmosis system in our house and were told that they could service it. They informed us of a service charge, which we felt fine with given the discussion with the person on the phone. So, today, the tech arrived, looked at the system for 5 minutes and said they can't service it. He then proceeded to spend 20 minutes selling us on a whole home system, plumbing checks, heating checks, etc. And then, charged us for the visit. Totally disappointed and poor customer service. The two stars was because the tech was polite and professional. But, that said, it isn't worth much. Should have checked the YELP reviews, vs the Google reviews the company had on their website. Lesson learned.

Just had a terribly disappointing experience with John Stevenson Plumbing. Needed estimates for work at a rental unit. I had used Stevenson one time previously for a small job. Thought they were professional. When the plumber was at my property, he called and told me he would give me one quote for the necessary immediate work, and another for a larger scope of work down the road. They charged me for using the camera to inspect the lines. Not terribly unreasonable, but none of the other 3 companies I used for estimates charged me for doing the same thing. Then they provided only the first estimate. Only a two line description of the work without any detail or sufficient information for me to make a decision about their $4521.00 proposal. When the person called wanting to know how they had done, I told her that the estimate was totally inadequate in terms of job description detail. She said she would pass that information on to the appropriate person for them to contact me. No one did. I then called in the next day and left a message (as I couldn't get anyone on the phone) that I would appreciate someone calling me back to discuss their proposed work. Never received a call back. Not impressed with their lack of response, interest, price, or the way they handled the whole job estimating process. They're off my list for future consideration.

Not recommended!- advise all readers to never sign their estimates until checking the part numbers that being estimated. Unless they provided part #'s in their estimate there was no way to verify whether we were being dealt with honestly. We were NOT advised honestly. $800 plus pricing for 45 min and 2 parts costing under $50 does not equal fair business practices.
Further, I checked 2 other highly rated HVAC companies and one said they would charge $250 for the job they charged over $800 for and the other company would charge $425 for the same parts and service. Both of those companies have been in business over 25 years with highly trained technicians.
When we called to talk to the manager, it took 2 days to get a response . They offered a 10% reduction . REALLY poor customer service and way over priced . Do not use. There are reputable & honest companies out there.

Very disappointed with this business. They gave estimates on work they recommended to be done when we signed up for yearly maintenance. Well the prices and recommendations seemed excessive so I had another company come over. Stevenson missed one fact that the water pressure coming into the house was way too high due. Many of their recommended repairs were unnecessary and several problems solved by reducing water pressure and wire brushing deposit on some valves.
Won't be having them return.

Two backed up toilets in a two-toilet condo...who to call? We called John Stevenson Plumbing and Heating/Air. Michael came out. He worked diligently until the problem was solved. Thank you! I've put this company in my contacts. Will definitely call them again.

Day 1 of buyers remorse. WOW, I just paid $2,700 for a 40 gal water heater and pressure relief valve. With no husband, handyman or hot water, this company was able to provide an appointment before anyone else. I would typically get multiple quotes but during this isolation I'm trying to restrict the number of people coming to my home. They wore no protective gear while on site but I didn't insist on it either.
Once I reluctantly agreed to the water heater price, Joe did a pressure test and said I needed a new valve for over $600 but he would call his manager for a better price since it was an add-on. He said I didn't have to replace it but the water heater warranty wouldn't kick in without the correct pressure. I find that very hard to believe.
The installer Will came later. His work was impeccable. The plumbing is practically a work of art as it should be for the price. Everyone was very polite and professional but I can't possibly afford to use them ever again.

Called to get quote for two toilets that were running on and off. Was absolutely astounded by the cost of fixing and changing out the float and flapper mechanisms was over $1000.00. Highway robbery! Wondering if if would be cheaper if quoting a male customer??
