John Murray knows what he is doing. He's a good plumber. Prompt and courteous. The only issue I have with him is his supplier. Apparently the parts house he uses charges a great deal for parts. Yes, I have an older house and some parts are becoming harder to find. That being said, I do not think that charging $60.00 for a $16.00 shower handle available through Amazon, is entirely fair to either the customer or the plumber.
To his credit, John offered to remove the handle and refund the money but that would have left me with the shower not working. I need the shower so i couldn't do that.
The result is that you will likely get the job done right but you will pay a lot for it. I would bear that in mind. If you have an emergency like I did, call John. If you can wait awhile then you might want to shop around.
Bought a new Delta kitchen faucet to replace the one that came with my 1999 home, and after reading some reviews I called John Murray Plumbing to have it installed. I was able to get an appointment for the following day, and the plumber showed up in the time window. Definitely wasn't the friendliest guy, but he did the job quickly with no issues. Their price was $99 for the first hour, and it only took maybe 30 minutes or so to install it, so they made out well and I was okay with that price. My only complaint, aside from him not be very sociable, was that he took the box that my faucet came in. I had left the box with everything in it on the kitchen table for him, and didn't discover it was gone until after he'd left. He certainly didn't ask me if I wanted him to take it. He left me the paperwork that came with it, but I know there were some other parts in the box that weren't used, and if I discovered a defect with the faucet during the warranty period, I wouldn't have the box to return it in. Definitely should've asked me if I wanted him to take the box, and told/showed me what was left in it that he was taking with him.
I have been using these guys for YEARS and have never experienced anything but professionalism and fairness. They are experienced and honest, and to top it off they are nice! I have been in my 30+ year old house since 1996 and have had my share of plumbing occurrences. Every time they have come through with an affordable solution.
Honestly, I wouldn't use anyone else.
Called plumbers out to fix hot water, it took them about 5 minutes to solve the problem as the plumbing is set up backwards and just takes a few minutes to heat up. It cost $99 for 5 minutes of their time. I tried to say that did not seem like an appropriate amount and I was willing to pay for their time but not that much, however they are unwilling to work with even their returning customers. I paid the bill and will NEVER use them again.
Debbie C.I love this place, emergency''s ... right there, routine, there when they say they will be. Prices reasonable and fair, employees very nice...
Worst experience. I have dealt with this company before and I think each time it gets worse. This last experience, my appointment time was set between 11-1 PM. Now, I understand emergencies happen, but a phone call to advise would be nice as not everyone has the luxury of sitting around all day. After calling them, I still did not receive a return call for about another 30 minutes, I get told that they can not promise they will make it out today. When I asked, if they are able to get here at 4 and if it went past the 5 PM mark could they give a discount on the after hours prices they said no they do not do that. I would not be one to ask for a discount if I had asked for the late visit but I already wasted all day waiting for a call that I probably would not have received if I did not contact them. If you value your time, do not call/waste your effort on trying to use them.
Zoey W.I had to call for a plumber last week due to a leaky pipe in the attic area above a bathroom. The plumber I had been using had retired and I recalled that my neighbor had good experiences with John Murray Plumbing. I called them at 9:15 am and a very pleasant lady named Karen took my information after I told her my plumbing problem. She explained that their fee is $99 per hr (plus parts) and if the job is over an hour, they charge by 15 minute increments. Karen told me that all their plumbers were already in the field on calls but she will call back with an ETA.
Karen called me back in 20 mins and told me that Jeff has an 15 min ETA to my house. I was pleasantly surprised since I thought I would have to wait a few hours. While I was waiting for Jeff, another lady called to confirm my address and told me that Jeff was on his way. There was a slight miscommunication (on their part) as to my street name but Jeff arrived about an hour after I made my call. He was able to patch the leak quickly and saved me from what I was dreading (a huge plumbing bill). My fee was $112. Jeff also fixed a drippy faucet in my backyard. Another plus is that they accept major credit cards.
I would highly recommend John Murray Plumbing. Not only did they do a great job, they also have good customer service. From now on, they are my go-to plumbers!
After waiting months for another plumber in the area to show I gave up. I asked around and got a referral for you guys. You were honest, knowledgable and did a great job. I will definitely be using you again. Thank you!
I have had mainline sewer back ups in the past and have had some bad experiences with shady plumbers. I found a great plumber (who i won't name in this review) that I always use to assist and to simply maintain the line. Last night i had another problem and called him but he was on vacation and the other fold from the company couldn't get out to me for a day and a half. i needed this fixed today so i called around and had Jeff from John Murray come out. I chose them because of the decent review on yelp and i have heard the name. After explaining the situation with Jeff he thought that it maybe wasn't my sewer and just augered the toilet that was the 'symptom' that my house gets. He fixed it! It wasn't my sewer so it was quick and easy and very reasonably priced. I will definitely recommend this plumber and the plumber that i usually use. Very happy to find another good plumber.
For the 1st time in 15 years, our main was clogged and everything got backed up. My initial thought was to call Mike Diamond (from the radio ads) who said they would be out in less than two hours. They finally showed up 4 hours later and the guy could not find a large enough clean out so he couldn't do it. No charge so that was okay, but he suggested John Murray Plumbing. I called them and they were there in less than 30 minutes (it was even a Saturday!). It did take some time and there ended up being two guys that worked together, but they had it fixed and only charged us 149. Totally happy customer and now know who I will call in the future!
