Two units replaced a little over a year ago by John C. Flood. Installation team was top notch; however, the follow-on service is terrible. I had maintenance agreement and always have to ""ping"" them to come do a spring and fall/winter check-up. I routinely make the scheduled appointments and all I get is the e-mail to be home and wait for the technician to call. Well the last straw was I made the appointment over two weeks earlier and the appointment was booked, then no call for over half the day? No status. I called their scheduler and all I got was--no definite answer on when or if their technician was on the way. All they said did I ask for a morning appointment. This response was unacceptable. I cancelled the appt. Oh well--will find a more local service team to do the work. At least I know where they are in town and not some roaming crew/individual based out of a Northern VA/DC Metro warehouse. Same as Michael and Sons. See you later.
The plumber was excellent. He diagnoses and fixed my leaking sink in 20 minutes. However, I was charged $395 for 20 minutes of labor. That's an hourly rate of $1,185. There were no parts to be replaced, not even any tools required, just 20 minutes of his bare hands. I shudder to think what the cost would have been if the bathroom sink leak repair was even moderately complex or involved parts replacement.
Sonia R.Great response to our immediate concern regarding gas smell. The technician arrived early morning after having reported the smell at 6 pm previous day. Fast, effective and efficient work. He explained clearly what needed to be done, his findings and suggested the repairs that needed to be done. Not cheap but a piece of mind knowing we're dealing with experts.
Mil W.John C. Flood answered my call immediately and courteously. The representative was very helpful in calming me and assuring me help would be available today. She assisted me in finding the water shut off valve. It was not 30 minutes later I received a call from the technician. He arrived, introduced himself and immediately covered his shoes before entering. Went to the site and immediately start searching to detect the problem. I am very happy with the customer service as well as the work. No one wants to deal with an emergency; but it helps when service is prompt things are explained, the person is knowledgeble in problem solving, confident and competent
This last visit they misdiagnosed an issue that led to days without a toilet and could have led to a hefty bill. Turns out it was just clogged (as suspected) and should have resulted in a fast fix with snaking.
When we called to inform them that their assessment was incorrect, the initial customer service representative had an attitude. She said we should have been charged more for the dispatch fee which is on them, not me.
Then I was transferred to the plumbing manager Pat who was a particularly argumentative and condescending man, despite my willingness to send documentation contradicting their diagnosis. I had to hang up because he kept talking over me.
My suggestion is to not use them - simply because they don't know how to take responsibility for their service or lack there of.
I still hold out hope that I will get a response after 4 calls. Essentially a technician came over and replaced the relief valve on the water heater after our basement flooded. Within one hour after he departed, the valve opened again, this time fire-hot water pouring out. This was a misdiagnosis, missing that the water temperature control was malfunctioning. Therefore, after paying $2,700 for the initial repair, we had to rip all of that out and buy a new water heater (which costs MUCH more). I understand that there can be mistakes, but I do not believe the customer needs to pay for $2,700 worth of oversight. Hopefully this can be resolved before small claims.
I have been with JC Flood for 17 years for my HVAC service. I appreciate the thorough inspection each fall and spring. Toan Phan was my technician this autumn. He was polite, thorough, explained recommendations and replaced the foam covering on the outside pump hoses.. Merry Christmas!!
I appreciate a company that conducts business with integrity, honest work with fair costs.
Toan made some recommendations for my unit . I made the decision as a consumer to decline the upgraded filter suggestion. Like any business, suggestions are made and as a consumer, I choose the option(s) or not. It's my choice.
Thank you
I received service from John C. Flood today. Dale Gunn, Jr. was my technician. Dale Jr. is the best when it comes to explaining what the customer needs to keep the HVAC system running efficiently. I appreciate your expertise!
J. Franklin, Satisfied Customer
I use John C Flood for both my HVAC and Plumbing needs and have always been satisfied with their services. All the service techs are very friendly and do their jobs well. I have used their services for many years and they have always fixed my issues in a timely fashion. They are great.
J B.So the company responds with a form letter supposedly from the owner but was posted by someone named Trevor. Now if that isn't enough of a lie then perhaps a closer look at the evidence will convince you not to even think of using any of their services.

The picture with the braided cable and Dahl ball valve shows the new work done along with a buggered up wall which was also done by them. Not really a big deal since I've got to paint anyway but it would've been nicer if I didn't have to deal with that at all. John C Flood charged $410.13 for just that work. There's no breakdown of labor or material charges, a predatory practice. At SupplyHouse.com the materials would've cost $12.50 for the valve and hose.
.
Photo copy of the receipt shows they charged me for 5' of copper pipe, less than 3' was used. You can't trust them. John C Flood charged me $478.37 to replace the piping.
.
They charged me $78.13 for the Sharkbite connectors, I found them for a maximum of $37 at Supplyhouse.com, another example of the way they'll gouge their customers.
.
Johnny Thomas, their plumbing supervisor, called me to explain the charges. He said they have to charge that much because they have to pay the person to answer the phone. He also explained that they have to have liability insurance. Then he told me they also have to buy specialized tools. Quite a bit to scrape off my boots.
.
They charge $600 a hour, beware of their lies.
