Had these guys come out to replace some existing walkways and stone steps. The work they did Lasted about 1-2 years. I emailed them asking about repairs and got no response.

Hired them for a new retaining wall and front pavers with a new walkway and front step. This company had great communication and worked diligently everyday until the project was complete. They were very affordable and great to work with. The finished product looks better than I had imagined! I would both recommend them to anyone and use them again.

I will just briefly say this. The owner Jayk was unreliable and inconsiderate of my time. I initiated contact with the company via homeadvisors ( or Angi since they are the same company now) and he responded. Made appointment to come give estimate- I rushed home after work, waited.....waited...and waited to no avail- no call, text, smoke signal to indicate he was running late or needed to reschedule. Instead he texted the NEXT MORNING at 8am to excuse away his absence, ok things happen sometimes is what I thought so he offers to come same day after work AGAIN. This time I asked if he could just communicate with me in any method most convenient if he will be late or a no-show again so this time I wouldn't wait around (it was a Friday after all). And what do you know....ONCE AGAIN HE BAILS WITHOUT ANY TYPE OF COMMUNICATION WITH ME. And did not reach out to resched again- moral to the story- if you have to chase someone from the start chances are you will chase them to get the job done, forget if you pay and need something corrected you will NEVER SEE HIM AGAIN!

I am surprised to see so many one star reviews on JD Construction. We chose this company out of 4 other estimates to repaving our driveway, not because they were the lowest price but because of the quality of work they assured us. They did not disappoint. The brothers impressed us with their professional knowledge and detail in explaining the job. The project went as expected, taking 3-4 weeks from removal of old asphalt to installing new pavement. The workers were diligent and an owner was always on site. They cleaned up and left our yard in better condition than they found it!
The new driveway is definitely an improvement to the outside view of our home. We recommend J D Construction for asphalt paving

A few summers ago, JDC was scheduled to come over at 5pm and estimate paving my driveway. No phone call, no text message. They simply never showed. I called them and asked if they were running late. No apologies, they said they can't make it and asked me if I was planning on attending Celebrate West Hartford. I asked why. They told me that they have a booth there and we can talk then. I told them, even if I'm at Celebrate WH, my driveway won't be. I was reminded to write this review after noticing most of the driveways they worked on in my new neighborhood crumbling apart in such a short time. I'm happy they never showed to the scheduled estimate. Very thankful I did not hire them.

Hired this company to do a metal roof, porches, and a handicap ramp, paid him $9,000 up front for materials and to get started. He showed up with mixed matching steel and when I complained, he said he couldn't afford to get the materials I wanted, and never came back. This company is not licensed with contractors board and he is a crook. When I still try to call him, he either hangs up on me or just won't answer.

Had them replace my driveway.

Careless - Broke sever tree branches, took out a lot more grass area than needed. Spilled asphalt not cleaned up. Spilled oil/gas on new driveway.
Dumped dirt behind garage.

Incompetent - Did not properly grade driveway leading to large deep puddles in finished product.

When I withheld payment they came back and put in a drain across the driveway to deal with drainage. Very sloppy, unprofessional work. Essentially leaving untrained laborers to do the work and then calling it good.

Could not pave a straight line except when trying to pave a curved line.

A very expensive mistake on my part.

Stay far, far away from them!

Although JD Construction is run by two charming gentleman, my interaction with them was not up to the level of service I would expect from a company. Very quick to come out and give a quote, and a timeframe as to when the service will be done. However once the job started, I feel like had I not called and constantly ask them when they were coming to start or complete the job, I would've waited much longer than the eight weeks to get my driveway paved.

They had all the excuses as to why they were not here at the hour they specified, The excuses continued as to why they weren't here at their new time. When they did show, six hours later than the original time, they spoke to me in a very condescending and disrespectful way. Being a disabled woman, in a wheelchair, I cannot help but think they thought they could treat my driveway paving job as a small job that would get bumped when a bigger job was landed.

When I spoke to them at the time they gave me the quote, I specifically asked if they did their own work or if they contracted it out. I was told they did the own work. However, after bringing the machines to my residence, three gentlemen came in a separate car and proceeded to do my driveway as James left the job.

My main concern was not being able to communicate if it was contracted out, and it became exactly the issue. Also disappointing, was the manner in which they left my property. Water bottles strewn on my porch and yard, and a big chunk of asphalt in one if my window wells. No receipt or care instructions were left as agreed upon. Overall, very disappointing!
