Probably the worst company that I have ever had to deal with. Much like the others posting a review, this company was assigned to me from the home warranty company I got when I purchased my house. The hot water heater had broke. Every time they came out to try to fix the problem, they gave me a window of 9-6 (because we have nothing better to do that wait around all day), but amazingly, they were late every single time. The employees smell like smoke.
They broke my hot water heater trying to fix it. They then wanted to jam the wire they broke into the part, and tape it up. When I told them no, it needs to be done the right way, they tried to blame it on me with the home warranty company so they would not have to pay to fix it.
The woman running the phones over there is the absolute worst. Very rude, disrespectful, and will lie and do whatever it takes to not take the blame.
If you are considering this company, do yourself a favor and run!

Terrible experience with J Star Services. All the reviews you read on here about rudeness, terrible customer service, and all other negative aspects of this company are completely true. If you refer to Google Reviews of this company the owner loves to try and cover their tracks using denial, lies, and attempting to create an image that portrays this company as helpful and understanding by pointing the finger at other people (including the customer). Don't waste your time with these people unless you want to be treated like dirt.

Moron doesn't even know what they are doing .. they are rude and not understanding will talk over and accuse another company who helped me find another contractor to fix what they couldnt and denied .

Unfortunately I can't give a zero stars review. Just bought a new house and on Friday we smelled what ended up being a small gas leak. We called our gas company they cane out and had to shut off all appliances which use gas which was the stove and water heater. We then called our home warranty company and they were very quick to match us up with j Starr so I got their info and I called them right away because I read their reviews and most said they don't call you which I find oddly enough. Anyway the lady that answered sounded like she was from home as I hear kids screaming in the back room so she's irritated and takes it out on me. She says "It's Friday we don't come out on weekends" so I replied with Friday is not a weekend. She said well it's 3 o'clock close enough WTF . So here it is Monday the plumber is there literally and says problem is fixed I tightened the pipe you can go ahead and call your gas company come back out and turn the gas back on so I did. The gas guy comes out and the work order says the same thing and the problem is still there and he cannot turn on the gas. So I called the plumbing company back after four phone calls the lady find the answers back rudely and says we're busy the rest of the day the best I can do is tomorrow morning so I'm like tomorrow morning like today tomorrow morning because the appointment today was 9 to 12 you showed up at 1:30 so should I plan for 130 then? She said sir we will get there when we get there I'm like ok lady. But all the while "why is this my fault again" avoid this company altogether

Just like to say that I am about to kick American Home Shield to the curb. J star services is the only plumbing contractor for my service area. You pay monthly premiums and think your covered, only to find out by the service company(j Star) that you are not actually covered in all cases. Needless to say I was very upset and was yelling at the office manager. Amy is a professional who obviously has had to deal with someone like myself who took it out on the wrong person when you fell like you've been taken advantage of. I have plumbing experience and take it from me, they know how to get the job done right and take time to help you understand your options and educate you on how to avoid more problems in the future. There is no question when I need a plumber I know who to call. Thanks J Star

Totally agree with every other review here. Absolutely the least professional phone conversation I can remember. Receptionist must be owner or required to act like a hardcore debt collector...she would never work for me.
The whole experience was very frustrating. No communication unless it serves their purpose and missed a day at the office for a 9a-6p window NO SHOW! (No reply/response all day)
Technician was knowledgeable and friendly but that's not enough to redeem this company.

Absolutely unbelievably bad. I have never before encountered such rudeness. My homeowner warranty company referred them. Without consulting me J-Star unilaterally scheduled an appointment on Thursday between 9-6. Didn't ask me if I could be available. Just sent me a text message. So I called them and said I couldn't wait around the whole day, that I needed a specific window. The first words out of the customer service person's mouth were "CURB YOUR ATTITUDE. We will call you on Thursday morning and give you a 3 hour window when we will be there" When I responded you don't tell the customer to "CURB YOUR ATTITUDE" she hung and canceled the appointment. Incredibly rude, disrespectful and unprofessional. I advise everyone to avoid J-Star.

Incredibly rude and unprofessional to the extreme. I would never use this company again. Receptionist is unbelievably disrespectful and offensive. I can't believe a company would ever hire someone like her-- if they have any hope of salvaging their company J star services needs a new receptionist. Even if she's that unhappy and disagreeable in her personal life she doesn't need to take it out on customers. Nobody thinks you're tough, just pathetic. Tasteless company overall.

My home warranty company contracted this service when our water heater started having issues. I'd called on a Wednesday around lunchtime and had been assured that per the warranty company's service agreement, I'd be receiving a call from J Star within 3-5 hours to schedule an appointment. No call came.
First thing the following morning (Thursday), I received a text message-- still no phone call-- telling me that my appointment window was scheduled for 9:00am to 6:00pm. Apparently a nine hour appointment window is okay for these people. I was already feeling sick, so I ended up calling into work to make sure I'd be home when they came by.
Some time later, I get another text message telling me that my appointment was canceled. I called them three times to no avail, then sent an email and a text message, but no one was responding. I called my home warranty company and they tried calling J Star repeatedly to no response. Apparently no one bothers to make or return phone calls at this company.
I finally got an email back somewhere around 3:00pm on Thursday informing me that they received the service order but they don't service my area. No apologies for not being more clear, for scheduling a 9-hour appointment window and canceling it, or for not returning calls, emails, or texts over a six hour period.
I'd recommend that you avoid trying to work with this company at all costs. I even requested that my home warranty company consider terminating any partnership with this group considering their ridiculously poor customer service. From the other reviews on this page, it sounds like they don't even do a decent job when they do show up.

We purchased a water heater from Sears after ours broke and flooded our home, because their website said they could deliver and install same day. Through contractors of course, unfortunately we had to work with this one!!! Sears apparently had our incorrect phone number, which we updated with them THREE TIMES! We called and left multiple voice mails for J Star Services after TWO DAYS without water. Once we were finally able to get them on the phone they told us "it wasn't their fault" that Sears didn't give them the correct contact information and that I would have to call Sears.
If you have an order pending, equipment waiting to be picked up, and installation that was promised SAME DAY, this company should have done SOMETHING to get in contact with either Sears or us to coordinate the installation.
They were extremely UNPROFESSIONAL on the phone and had NO IDEA how to handle a disgruntled customers. We will NEVER work with Sears just so that we do not have to encounter J Star Services ever again!!
