They do not answer your calls. I had to dial them from another phone; they answered, but refused to talk because "it was taking too long". We had been on the phone ("too long") for less then two minutes, and I had several questions to discuss. The lady on the phone said: "It is my business, I only talk to who I want. You order is closed" and hang up.

Update.
To be fair: the technicians are fantastic: professional, respectful, prompt. The office lady is another story.
She billed my credit card without calling me about the changes in the charges compare to what we discussed before over the phone. She did not send me a receipt. I called and asked for the receipt. She promised to email it (never did) and hang up on me. I had one more question - about the (mis)functioning of the water hitter they installed; i did not ask it because she interrupted me and hung up. That is why I called again, and she refused to talk. After several attempt, I dialed them from a different number, and she responded but, realizing that was me again, refused to talk. I had no other solution but driving to their office (30 min one way) to pick up the receipt (I happened to really need it rather promptly). I entered the office, introduced myself, asked for the receipt and... here it started. She refused to provide me with the receipt, refused to discuss the issue with the water hitter, and started demanding so that I left the office. Since I did not leave, she called the police; I could hear the conversation; they did not want to come; she had to say that she was not feeling safe with me in her office. (I was peacefully sitting on the couch in the waiting area.) The police officer came over; made her print out the receipt for me and, using the instructions to the water hitter I had with me, explained how I could fix it myself. Than he wished me a great day and returned to her office to have a conversation with her. Thank you, officer!! He made my day.
By the way, she was trying to insult me in any imaginable way, starting with calling me crazy, making up things about my personal life and relations with other people and businesses, and going as far as making derogative comments on my non-native status (I speak with an accent).
I would have never chosen them; the home warranty company did.
Bottom line: if you do not want a police to be called on you for asking for a receipt, find some other place to take care of your business.

David with J Star was very professional. He listened to our problem, which was rather complex (it began when another plumbing company's shoddy work). He didn't create unnecessary fixes or try to scam us for more money. They were available the next day, arrived on time, and provided notifications when they were heading our way.

I see a lot of negatives here regarding this company... I have to think these are unfortunate isolated incidents. David from J-Star was at my house before 10:00 am, diagnosed and fixed the problem in less than 30 minutes. Extremely professional, and communicated through the process. I watched on my home security camera while he did the repairs with my wife and daughters in the home and at no point did they feel unsafe.

One thing that I was not a fan of was the 09:00-18:00 arrival window they sent me. That is a hugeeee window and can really throw off a day. If I could make one recommendation to the company, it would be to shrink that window, some people do not have the luxury to wait around all day...luckily my wife works from home.

I went through my home warranty services, so they are used J-Star... but if I have any issues regarding my plumbing I wouldn't hesitate to use them again, based off of this ticket.

I have three kids at home with one being only 9 months, J-star is heartless and does not care for the hazardous environment they have created in my house for more than 7 week and still counting with no end in sight.
I had a water leak in my bathroom wall in January 2019, my Home warranty company American home shield sent J-Star to repair the leak. To repair the leak, J-star cut two holes in my wall, break my shower handle, trash my house and did not clean up their mess. The broken shower handle was replaced with some random shower handle from the back of their truck and my house was left uncleaned and the two holes in my wall was never reported back to my warranty company for wall repair technician to be sent. As I write this review today is Match 1, 2019, its more than 7 weeks since the holes in my wall was cut by J-Star and my shower handle damaged. I have contacted J-star numerous times and received a very rude responds from one their representative on how a technician was never sent to my house. The representative did not even review their logs before rudely responding to me. Of course, after a lengthy back and forth with her on the phone she eventually review the logs and confirm that the technician was sent. However, no action or initiative have been taken to correctly repair the shower handle or report the wall holes to my home warranty company so that a wall repair technician can be sent.

Tech came out and diagnosed. He was very good. Was told they would be back out Monday morning to finish job. After waiting till the afternoon for them to call or show up, I called and spoke to a woman who basically made it my fault that no one had called or showed up. Took no responsibility for there poor service or lack of communication. She definitely should not be the one answering the phone

Probably the worst company that I have ever had to deal with. Much like the others posting a review, this company was assigned to me from the home warranty company I got when I purchased my house. The hot water heater had broke. Every time they came out to try to fix the problem, they gave me a window of 9-6 (because we have nothing better to do that wait around all day), but amazingly, they were late every single time. The employees smell like smoke.

They broke my hot water heater trying to fix it. They then wanted to jam the wire they broke into the part, and tape it up. When I told them no, it needs to be done the right way, they tried to blame it on me with the home warranty company so they would not have to pay to fix it.

The woman running the phones over there is the absolute worst. Very rude, disrespectful, and will lie and do whatever it takes to not take the blame.

If you are considering this company, do yourself a favor and run!

Terrible experience with J Star Services. All the reviews you read on here about rudeness, terrible customer service, and all other negative aspects of this company are completely true. If you refer to Google Reviews of this company the owner loves to try and cover their tracks using denial, lies, and attempting to create an image that portrays this company as helpful and understanding by pointing the finger at other people (including the customer). Don't waste your time with these people unless you want to be treated like dirt.

Unfortunately I can't give a zero stars review. Just bought a new house and on Friday we smelled what ended up being a small gas leak. We called our gas company they cane out and had to shut off all appliances which use gas which was the stove and water heater. We then called our home warranty company and they were very quick to match us up with j Starr so I got their info and I called them right away because I read their reviews and most said they don't call you which I find oddly enough. Anyway the lady that answered sounded like she was from home as I hear kids screaming in the back room so she's irritated and takes it out on me. She says "It's Friday we don't come out on weekends" so I replied with Friday is not a weekend. She said well it's 3 o'clock close enough WTF . So here it is Monday the plumber is there literally and says problem is fixed I tightened the pipe you can go ahead and call your gas company come back out and turn the gas back on so I did. The gas guy comes out and the work order says the same thing and the problem is still there and he cannot turn on the gas. So I called the plumbing company back after four phone calls the lady find the answers back rudely and says we're busy the rest of the day the best I can do is tomorrow morning so I'm like tomorrow morning like today tomorrow morning because the appointment today was 9 to 12 you showed up at 1:30 so should I plan for 130 then? She said sir we will get there when we get there I'm like ok lady. But all the while "why is this my fault again" avoid this company altogether

Just like to say that I am about to kick American Home Shield to the curb. J star services is the only plumbing contractor for my service area. You pay monthly premiums and think your covered, only to find out by the service company(j Star) that you are not actually covered in all cases. Needless to say I was very upset and was yelling at the office manager. Amy is a professional who obviously has had to deal with someone like myself who took it out on the wrong person when you fell like you've been taken advantage of. I have plumbing experience and take it from me, they know how to get the job done right and take time to help you understand your options and educate you on how to avoid more problems in the future. There is no question when I need a plumber I know who to call. Thanks J Star
