I knew my 18-year-old air conditioner was probably beyond repair when it was not cooling the house this summer. I called Howald for service anyway, just in case. Their technician gave me the option of repair and laid out a repair plan, but I wasn't shocked at all when his best recommendation was a system replacement, especially since the AC was paired with an electric furnace and was the most inefficient method of heating and cooling I could have. After consulting with Don from sales, who was a former technician himself, they were able to provide a heat pump/electric furnace system that I could afford and will save me money in operating costs. The install team worked very fast and the new system was operating in much less time than I had imagined it would take. They even moved the unit location over a few feet so the dryer vent no longer blew hot air on the coils. This company treats the customer right.

Super pleased with Howald, Ricky was my service person and I was very pleased with his professionalism, timeliness, and expertise. The came the next morning of my initial call to replace an outdoor hose valve on my older home. And Ricky also provided me with a convenient indoor shut off valve with easy access. Plumber was friendly, professional and prompt. But pricing is what I'd have to call ""gouging."" $321 to replace a leaking toilet shutoff valve. Ouch. And they charge $95 just to show up, so when the plumber quoted me $321, if I had turned it down I would have been stuck paying $95 for nothing. No-win situation.

When making the appointment I explained exactly what was needed, later the plumber told me they had flat pricing. I wish they would've told me that over the phone, instead I had to pay $95 to find out. It was a 10 minute job to install a $10 part, I just have no idea how they justify that pricing.

The Howald team is great! They have replaced my A/C, furnace, and most recently my water heater. Everyone has been great at communicating and following through promptly. Steve the sales person was great, he gave me honest recommendations and there was no sales pressure when choosing my water heater, same with furnace and A/C with Kevin. Sam who installed my water heater was wonderful as well. I would definitely recommend them and would use again in the future!

My last two experiences with Howald have been very disappointing. We are on their scheduled maintenance plan and have been a customer for six years. Shortly after their last maintenance visit in the spring we noticed water all over our basement floor. Turns out the condensate drain was blocked, as it obviously wasn't cleaned as part of the scheduled maintenance. They sent a tech out to fix it (can't do the job right but always have time to do the job over) at no charge and we were left to clean up the mess. Today they were supposed to come out again for a maintenance check. They called yesterday to confirm the appointment but DIDN'T SHOW. I called their office and received a call back stating they had a tech out sick and had to reschedule their appointments. Too bad they didn't call me on the number I gave them to reach me, even though the person I spoke to stated their CSR log showed a note with the correct number and it also showed they called a different one. I guess poor service, cutting corners and failure to follow directions is simply becoming the ""new normal"" these days...

12/8/22 UPDATE: Howald rescheduled, sent a tech on time, and David did a great job answering my questions and giving our furnace a thorough inspection. I'm hoping my prior experience is the exception rather than the rule.

Howald team replaced our furnace last year (Michael and Russ did a great job) and most recently we called Howald to come work on our plumbing.

Scheduling was easy and we didn't have to wait very long (1-2 days at most). Their office communicated appointment details and all the updates proactively, so we always knew what to expect and when the crew would come. Joe and Austin were professional, friendly, and got our vintage faucet fixed in under an hour. Very happy with the result and all the work was priced reasonably.

We will definitely use Howald for our future house needs and recommend to everyone.

I called Howald immediately after my furnace went out (of course it had to be the coldest week of the season), and they were extremely responsive and reliable. They showed up a couple hours later to diagnose the problems, gave a fair estimate, and the next day I had a new furnace installed! They even offer 2 free tune ups after installation. Definitely recommend them for your hvac and plumbing needs!

This was our first time to have Howald do our seasonal AC check-up and I could not have had a more positive experience. James was on time, polite and very knowledgable. After identifying some issues that needed attention, he would thoroughly explain why and how it should be addressed. Unlike other service providers, I never felt like he was trying to sell me something. And, the service contract provides a nice savings! Howald provided exceptional service again. Howald is our go-to for our HVAC needs including replace our complete system 5 years ago. We had a plumbing issues so I called them. Wow!! They were able to address our shower issue in one call and serviced our other shower as well. I thought it was a valve issue, but their technician (Sam) determined it was a completely clogged filter.
