Overcharged and couldn't get a straight story from anyone. I had to call 7x (no one ever returned my calls) to talk to someone who could validate the charges for my account because I was told a different price from one of their employees.

I was verbally quoted ""a few hundred dollars"" for a replacement shower drain. I was presented a bill for $1800 and was told that this type of job is ""not quotable"" they also charged me for a parking ticket they got while at the job site.

At the end of January, a technician came out and ""exercised"" the button on my heating unit. This started my heat working again. He was at my condo 20 minutes at the most. I received in invoice for $200.00, $8.00 of that was for ""fuel"".

I called twice to speak with the owner of Houghton, I wanted to talk about the invoice and to get an estimate for replacing the unit, (which was suggested). He never returned my calls!!! I also called the accounting department to ask if I could pay my invoice over the phone, she never returned my call.

This is not how business should be conducted!!! I'm just as important as the customer that receives service exceeding thousands of dollars.

These guys are great! Had a problem after the storm with my furnace and they came out the same day. Two years ago, John checked out the furnace and found a loose wire which they fixed and saved me a bundle of money. My furnace is quite old and I had a problem after the last storm so I called Houghton and they came right out and checked everything, and determined I needed a part, which they ordered asap, and came out on Saturday to install it. Can't find a better plumber!

Over the past 10 years, I've used Houghton plumbing for all of the normal household things - hot water heater, garbage disposal, slow/leaky faucets, gas stove, clogged drains, new toilets, and dishwasher. All I can say is they've always been on time, courteous, efficient, and reasonable - and never a spot of mess left behind. I don't usually write reviews - but some of the ones here are clearly outdated - and don't reflect any of my own experiences.

I wish that I would have read the reviews prior to hiring them, they quote 1 price then charge something completely and then when you have a question NO ONE is available to answer. I have tried to contact anyone in the office that can answer a question, I have left my name and number and no one has responded. I feel as though they get in, do whatever they want and charge whatever and we have no recourse...JUST PAY!!!

These guys do a tremendous job, had an emergency sewage problem with a waste pump, they were there in short order, and repaired the problem. They even showed up with all the nescessary stock so they didnt have to show up, then leave and come back again.

Upon moving into an apartment, the faucet broke on us on our first night there. Water everywhere! Emergency plumbers came out that night and shut off the water to the entire bathroom. The building management company uses Houghton so they were asked to assist in fixing the problem. A week later they came out to assess the problem and disappeared for two weeks with no feedback on status of ordered parts etc. Management company was asked to follow up on them and only then did they come out, later than scheduled but okay. Took them the whole day to work on the problem and before they left I tested all the faucets: suddenly one of them doesn't work. They look at me and tell me like my 4 year old does :""wasn't me"". They could not attend to it the same day and literally ran out of my building just in case I insisted on it. Another call and another, appointment is scheduled only for them to reschedule me 3 times! When I complain they tell me there won't be any hard feelings if I take my business elsewhere. Worst service I have ever experienced!

I called and spoke with Dave Houghton. We made an appointment for him to come to my condo and I took the day off from work to meet him. The morning of the appoitnment he cancelled at the last minute with no explanation. I would NOT recommend him based on this unprofessional behavior.
