This is the Worst Service Company Ever. They took over from National Grid Repair Service several years ago. National Grid had technicians with years of experience. HomeServe hired inexperienced, untrained kids basically.
This year (September) I called for a Tune Up to prepare for Winter. The first date available is December (Are you kidding?). This week, when heat would not come on, I called for service. A Technician comes three days later and says I need a part and they will order and call me when it arrives and install. Then next day I get a call from HomeServe Service supervisor telling me my HVAC closet is too small and they can't reach the part to remove and replace. He said there are Wires in the way (Yea. its a utility closet in a NYC Apt). I say sir, I have had this system for 17 years in the same closet, and yes it is ""tight"" (NYC apt), but I have had all the parts replaced at one time or another and experienced HVAC repair people figure it out and do it. Then he says ""Well, we are not fixing your unit, and we are canceling your contract"". Good. Good Riddance. Hey a local repair company may cost more, but you will save in the long run. I think they did not want to do any work beyond routine maintenance-like replace ignition nothing that requires real work or repairs. This company has poor service and people not trained to do the Job. Run, Run, don't hire them.
My heat went out on Saturday evening. I called and they sent a tech out on Sunday afternoon. He discovered a dead bird in the pipe leading into the furnace. He took it out and the furnace is working great!
This company is a rip off! They don't have professional employees working for them, nor do they understand the company policy. Plumping issues is a headache. Majority of the time, pipes need to be replaced, so if the pipe need to be replaced, Homeserve do not cover that, they only do repairs! How do you repair a pipe? They are false advertising. The company commits to providing easy repairs, which is the opposite, they give you the run around and have technicians from other company's coming into your home, ripping you off. Don't use there service!
I want to give them zero but I cannot. These people have been taking our money for years. Every single time we have an easy issue like fixing a toilet or making a sink stop leaking there is a problem. Today all they had to do was fix the flushing mechanism in one toilet and screw the piece back on underneath the sink so it would stop leaking. They were incapable of doing that. Instead they left, and I had to go through four people on the telephone that told me there was a mistake made, and they don't know why the plumbers did not fix the problems. I also found out that after paying over $300 for someone to fix my sump pump that that was a covered service. I had called at least four times in the past and was told each time that it was not covered. I have no desire to go through a song and dance to get a reimbursement as they asked for pictures of the work when it was being done. Who takes pictures while they're fixing a plumbing problem. Instead of dealing with more nonsense that I'm sure would end up in me not receiving a reimbursement I decided to cancel the damn service, cut my losses, and move on with my life. I have way more important things to worry about then these fools.
Well, in the six months I've been signed up for this service. I've tried to use them twice. 1. Our heat went out when it was 10 degrees last winter and they couldn't send anyone for three days. We ended up getting a private contractor. 2. We scheduled our annual air conditioning system check/tuneup over a week ago for today. No call, no show.

Technician came the following day and performed the requested a/c checkup. He was professional and helpful. So I've revised my rating from one to three stars.
Eric B.HomeServe made good on their promise to reimburse me for the cost of calling another company. Even though they had a cap on the reimbursement amount they sent me a check for the entire invoice which was higher than the cap. I must say i'm pleasantly surprised, I thought I would have to fight for it but instead they reimbursed me without even an argument.
Be very careful when you call in for a claim. These people don't tell you your not covered for things and sent a repair person anyway. I had my main line backing up and called Homeserve. I have 4 plans with them and one is plumbing. I didn't realize it was only interior and the dummy that took the call didn't tell me so she dispatched the plumber and 215.00 later we find out we're not covered for exterior. Time to educate your workers. You would think the rep on the phone would have told me , I do have other insurance with a 50 dollar co pay which would have been much more affordable. I'll be cancelling all 4 plans shortly and using the other carrier I have.
I paid for the exact same heating service contract every year with Homeserve since 2005. Our boiler has a circulator that pump hot water to two baseboard radiators on the first floor. The circulator was replaced by Home serve once at 2006. December 29 2017, I requested service for the Circulator on the boiler. The tech gave me a diagnostic in 2mins. Without even unbolting circulator, He claims the it is working, just the pipe needs to be clean, and it's not cover under the service contract. The next day, I call an independent plumber to check the circulator, and it was bad. I read the service contract, and call Homeserve to verified the Circulator was covered under the service contract. Jan 3, 2018, they send another tech. This tech claimed there's a leak in our water system, and he can not replace the circulator until the leak is fixed. I give me his personal business card to fix our leak for $165. Jan 12 2018, I called and asked to speak with a supervisor in hope to resolved the problem. They do not have anyone I can talk to. Jan 15 2018, A supervisor finally calls me. He was extremely rude, and claimed the circulator was not part of the heating system, therefor not cover under the service contract. When I ask for his name, he just hang up on me. I have a local plumber replaced the circulator for $200.
The truth about Homeserve is, they are lying thiefs. After they got your money, they will do anything to avoid providing service.

The boiler at my home stopped working.
Can you imagined be at home with 2 kids with out heat.
This bad service company offered to send repair guy only the next day.
The forget I paid them for service, when I needed.
Meantime I'm stocked, the whether outside is below 0.
Please don't contract with this company for any service.
Had no heat. The HomeServe representative did an excellent job in diagnosing the problem. He was very meticulous,knowledgeable and focused and friendly. He took time to answer my questions. He didn't run out the door after completing the job but instead stayed until he was satisfied with the job The plan I have covered everything i.e. No out of pocket cost.
I highly recommend HomeSeve USA.
