Igor took the time to explain each step of the process and what materials they'd use. When rain was expected the week we'd scheduled to start, he contacted me immediately and set out a new timeline. Igor and his team did exceptional work and were professional throughout the entire process. Igor (the owner) responded quickly to my initial request and came out to our home within the week. He laid out a detailed plan and timeline for us, and had a quote ready for us within 48 hours. They were able to begin the work relatively soon after.

We had them paint the entire exterior of our home, the façade of our backyard ADU, repair and paint our front porch, sand and stain our back deck, and re-seal some of our windows. They thoroughly cleaned and power-washed all surfaces before they started to paint.

The work in total took about two weeks (they lost a few days because of rain). They generally worked from 10am - 4pm.

We could not be happier and impressed with the work they did. The house looks better than it did when we bought it! The painters were clean, quiet, and respectful throughout the entire process. Igor was also very communicative and gave updates on the progress regularly. He was flexible with our add-on requests and was always quick to respond.

We could not recommend them highly enough! Outstanding work!

My deck and railing needed painting and some minor repair work. To be clear, this deck sits a half story off the ground. Igor seemed to understand the appropriate level of work required to make repairs on the deck and pointed out opportunities to address the sagging supports on the deck railings. This was the scope of work (from the bid):

1) Pressure wash
2) Countersink nails
3) Step repair
4) Repair rotten deck boards
5) Railing repair
6) Replace front gate latch
7) Staining deck with 2 coats

My understanding is that the painting prep work would include all that was needed to prepare the deck for the paint. Unfortunately, a lot of debris (fallen from nearby trees - not coming up from the ground) was left between the deck boards, and was then painted over, leaving an unsightly mess and now with paint dried over it. If the power wash was not sufficient to adequately prep the deck for painting, it should have been specifically stated in the bid or called out as a different task to perform. NOBODY would think painting over the debris stuck between the boards was a good idea. Based on the prior Yelp reviews I expected a five star job, but I was sadly mistaken. When I arrived to inspect the work at the end end of the job I was told the deck would be dry; but it was still completely wet, leaving a very awkward situation. How could I fully inspect the job if the paint was still wet? Now I realize I should not have paid - but again, I relied too heavily on positive reviews from this site to put aside any concerns.

However I could easily see all the debris painted over in the deck and raised an issue with that. They said it would be another full day's work to clean the deck properly and paint it! Igor blamed me for not having the correct method to prepare the deck in his bid. Like I should know that a pressure wash would not be sufficient to prep the deck before painting? (Why would they paint over a dirty deck in the first place?!)

I paid for the work but am very disappointed and will have to remove the now painted-stuck debris, repaint over their repairs and get a real carpenter to address the stair stinger and faulty install of the supports and to clean and repaint all the poorly painted areas as well.

The attached pictures tell the story of the shoddy workmanship here:
- Deteriorated wood on the stair stringer was adhesive applied and painted over, not adequately repaired.
- The replacement step placed on damaged stringer has paint driplines left to dry in place on edge, and is completely unpainted on the bottom.
- Underneath the replaced step, a supplement support was attached, but left un-painted and is not in contact with the step, there is a gap ranging from 1 to quarter inch.
- Uneven paint application, in some spot there wasn't even a full coat application.
- Sloppy application of post gap, the glue is oozing out of the joint and visibly left to dry. Poor application of paint is obvious.
- Wood is chipped and splintered at new whole for gate lock pole wire and left unpainted.

Igor and Vladimir did a tremendous job sanding and resealing our deck. They were highly professional, knowledgeable, efficient and finished the work on time. The pricing was very competitive and the value was fantastic. As you can see from the photos, they truly transformed our deck.

Our deck, outdoor stairs, and deck fence needed washing, sanding, and refinishing. Igor and Vladimir completed the job in 4 days, turning rough dirty redwood and ipe into beautiful wood surfaces that will now be weather resistant for years. It was wonderful to have Igor come to our home, rather than just ask for photos, to see the job and explain the cost (which was lower than other estimates). He gave an expert assessment of how to treat the wood. Vladimir's work was meticulous and clean, he always arrived on time, and Igor kept in touch daily. I have asked this team to do some additional work involving carpentry and renovation, and am so happy to have found them.

We found Igor through our neighbor, and I'm sure glad that we were able to bring him on to paint the facade of our building. His price was on the more competitive side (ie. slightly cheaper) when compared against the other 4 estimates I had from SF-based painters, but Igor included repairs to our waterproofing and flashing at our false-balconies which other painters excluded. He took care of the scaffolding contract as well as logistics of sub-trades, and he even suggested improvements/repairs which he covered at no additional cost bc it was convenient for his team. The work he did was great, and it's obvious that his painters took great care.

With all the nightmare contractors out there, Igor is a diamond in the rough. He's honest and has a great personality. No change orders - all scope discussions were straightforward.

If you're comparing painters, Vanguard should be at the top of the list. You won't regret it
