While it is one thing to yelp for reviews of restaurants, it is quite another to rely on Yelp for significant work on one's home.

In my case, it was to expand a 3'x3' area at top of backyard stairs into a small deck. So I called Vanguard which turned out to be Igor's company. He came out right away. He got the concept which required moving existing stairs below to make room for the new deck above. In the evening, Igor emailed a detailed and fair estimate. I accepted. Work went smoothly. Kudos to Michael, the lead worker. He is a real pro.
During the weeklong project, Igor came by to oversee work. At the end, it was Igor who chiseled wood frames to fit acrylic panels.

Now the Man Cave (aka my garage) has room outside. For timeouts during GSW games. For stretching and yoga poses. All with a clear view to the horizon and the ocean from Mt Davidson in San Francisco.

In hindsight, my first impressions of Igor proved to be correct. Someone to trust to do professional work in my home.

PS Since construction of the new deck was well above ground level, safety was a concern. The result was a well built deck, sturdy and strong.

Igor and the team kicked butt!! The fix for our external wood support beams and connecting staircase had been destroyed by time, moisture and beetles. Not only was the inspection fast, accurate and complete but the team treated all the beams and wood planks with sealer to ward off the bugs and moisture for the long term. Great work, professional, cost effective and highly communicative at all sorts of hours. Very impressed and just great guys doing solid work!! Thanks Igor and team!!

We hired Vanguard Home Solutions last month to repair a deck with termite damage and dry rot. Igor came to look at the job and he was very responsive. He worked with Nicholas to get our deck repaired. They did a fantastic job, I was very impressed. (My dad was a contractor for many years so I know good work.) Fast and friendly service at a reasonable rate. I was a little concerned on the first day when Nicholas arrived in an old beat-up mini van. Later he told me that he drives that van on purpose because he has very expensive tools in it and no one is tempted to break into it. Very clever ;-) They also replaced our old kitchen faucet while they were there which worked out great. They were super nice to work with and they know what they are doing. We will definitely call them again when we need work around the house.

I work with Vanguard Home Solutions on remodeling my client's properties and had only positive experience.
Our goal was to replace patio, build a backyard deck, rebuilt an old fence and remodel 2 bathrooms. We made an appointment with 5 contractors to get an estimate. Only Igor (the owner and supervisor) and one more contractor out of 5 others made it to the meeting on time. Our decision to go with Igor was based solely on the price and also his professionalism: punctuality, experience, and deep knowledge in construction, recommendations for various materials and his availability to start and finish at the right time for us.
Notwithstanding the fact that his team only had 2 people, and they were working independently, Igor personally coordinated the project and most of the times was present at the job site. During the process, the entire constructions zone was clean and organized.
They were able to deliver the results on time and my clients were pretty happy with that. I would definitely recommend Igor and his team to anyone as we had no issues whatsoever, smooth and nice job, guys!

In sum - I highly recommend Igor and his team. They did a great job for me. The work was done timely, to my specifications and professionally.

Job - Igor and his partner were charged primarily with fixing the defective work of a general contractor who, among other things, was charged with building a substantial wall which created two rooms out of a large room in a flat located on the north side of San Francisco. The wall, of course, was to be soundproofed. When the prior general contractor was unable to construct the appropriate door openings into which specially ordered doors were to be installed for each entryway to the new rooms and abandoned the job, it was discovered that the prior general contractor had built absolutely no soundproofing in the wall.
In approximately less than a week as promised, Igor was able to remove the defective work and re-build the wall (using quiet clip and ""green glue"" arrangement) so that it met my stringent requirement for soundproofing (STC near 63). Installation of the doors and finish work i.e. wall and/or door molding was well done.
A part of the job was also installing deadbolts and/or door knobs for the new doors as well as old ones throughout the flat. I lacked one antique doorknob matching others already installed in the flat, and Igor found and installed said antique doorknob gratis. I was pleasantly surprised indeed.

5 stars - I am no neophyte to having renovations done, having accomplished many of them on real property in San Francisco since 1995, so for me five stars is meaningful. Above all, I trust Igor and his people, because I left them pretty much to their own devices at the property and no personal property was missing nor was the property damaged.
