Since 1988, Home Heating Service has been dedicated to serving Colorado Springs and its surrounding communities.

My name is Jordan Gateley, and I’m honored to continue the family tradition at Home Heating Service, Inc. Having been raised in Colorado Springs, I still consider it my home. The company was established in 1988 and acquired by my parents in 1990. They established it with diligence, integrity, and a profound dedication to our community. I have been part of this company for over 20 years, learning the trade from the ground up and eventually taking ownership with my wife, Melissa. We continue to be a family-run operation—my sister, Chelsea, is a key member of our team, and we maintain the values we grew up with. Melissa and I are raising two lively boys, and when we’re not at work, we love to explore Colorado—whether it’s off-roading, golfing, or playing tennis. We value this community, and it’s our privilege to ensure local homes remain comfortable and operate efficiently.

Meh, wouldn't give me a quote. Wanted to schedule me for a consult a week out before we could even discuss a replacement water heater. Forget that. I'm not waiting 2 weeks for something I can get done today.

I have been a loyal Home Heating Service (HHS) customer for a while. Not anymore.
In May of this year, 2021, they installed a new A/C unit. I also had them clean the air ducts.
The first two photos I'm attaching are of the power supply line going to the A/C unit. After the initial inspection by the County, they said the area where the power connected to the A/C unit needed to be moved away from a window well. A couple of HHS employees came out and just rotated the entire unit. Pulling the power line out of one of the brackets that attached it to the exterior wall and bent the other one. I don't know anything about A/C units, but the power line angle looks a bit severe.
The third photo is of an air vent in a basement bathroom. This is how they left it after cleaning the duct work.
The fourth photo is the basement floor. It has an epoxy cover/finish. The marks are from their sheet metal work. They had to make adjustments to the furnace. I talked to them three times about getting this repaired. It still hasn't been repaired.
The fifth photo is of a piece of jagged sheet metal that they left on a carpeted basement floor.
The A/C works fine. Their attention to detail sucks. Their clean-up after the job is done, sucks.
DO NOT call them. If you have to use them, make sure everything is cleaned up and that there is no damage. Otherwise, once your check clears, good luck getting any help.

Quick response, reliable, courteous and knowledgeable service. We used their service to install central air in our houses and would recommend the company. Their price is fair.

On Saturday I noticed that the house was not heating properly, so I called and they sent out a Technician to inspect and troubleshoot the furnace. Initially the Technician (Clint) determined that although there were no error codes, it could still be the Pressure switch for my 2 stage blower. Today, Monday the Technician (Scott) double checked to see if the thermostat had defaulted from factory settings, and sure enough the thermostat had defaulted. Scott reset the factory settings and now everything is perfect, saving me $300 for new pressure switches.....Home Heating is truly professional the way they do business; 2 Technicians to make sure the problem is fixed right without gouging the customer. That is why I am a customer for over 26 years....

Back in March/April 2020, Scott came out to inspect my water heater and forced air furnace units. I definitely liked Scott and he did a great job. I am never comfortable dealing with contractors just because of some of the negative stories I've heard. Of course there are good contractors out there and home heating services seems to be one. Don't lose Scott!

On another big note, They also installed a tankless water heater and the job was done well!

Home Heating Service was incredible from getting a free quote, to scheduling, to the actual service. They offered military, cash, and combined discounts for a furnace and A/C install. They also installed the water heater. They are responsive, professional, and efficient. They did great work quickly. Derrick, the sales specialist, was phenomenal. And Marcus, and others, who did the install were stellar. I can't recommend them enough. They were thoughtful about my work from home and my dog who struggles with strangers, were crazy polite and very personable, and walked me through everything before leaving.

My experience with Home Heating Service was 5 Stars! They were quick to respond, able to attend to my immediate timeline, extremely helpful with the explanation of needs, services, and able to offer a variety of options to meet the challenge of my leaking hot water heater. Thanks so much for the positive experience. I highly recommend this company!

Don't waist your time or money using this company. They over charge for everything. They even charge for estimates by insisting a $95 diagnostic is needed before giving you an estimate. Even if you already know what needs to be done.

We have been in our home in Colorado Springs for two winters now, and during our first winter here, our Trane XR80 furnace was tripping a High temperature limiter sensor. I was deployed to Afghanistan, so my wife called home heating service, inc., and Jared from this company felt justified in taking advantage of my wife and infant daughter while I was away. He came out and looked at the unit, and without any real diagnostic, he immediately assumed it was the temperature sensor and left to replace the unit. We had the same issues since then, with it being fixed by powering down and restarting the unit. This is my first full winter in this house and when it happened again, I personally checked the filters (which have been replaced every 2-3 months as recommended by Trane), checked the leads of the temperature senor with my fluke multimeter (which it passed), checked the sensor itself and it fired back up just fine when everything was put back together (took about 15 minutes). I asked my wife about the previous ""service"" and I had her call this company to inquire about any implied warranties. She told me that the original service tech came out, checked the code and was out in less than 10 mins to replace the part. Their phone representative was inept about their services, parts, or warranties and transferred us to a technician. We talked to a ""dana"", a service technician with them, who agreed that our issue is probably not the temperature sensor, and quoted me ""$196 more to come out and take another look"". The original OEM sensor can be purchased for $15 on amazon and takes about 15 minutes to install properly. They charged us $275 and it took the technician about 20 minutes to replace the temperature limiter that I believe was working just fine. Just to recap, I have the same problem I had before we called this company, they charged me to replace a part that was most likely working just fine, and want to re-charge me to come back out and determine what the real problem is. Total cost from this company to replace a $15 part in ~35 minutes is $471 with no guarantee that your problem will really be solved as you can expect to call them back out next year. Their service warranty is only 3 months, which basically covers the remainder of the current winter, and parts just 1 year which means that when you turn your system on next year, get the phone ready to call them back out for an 'out-of-warranty' part replacement again! Thankfully I am home this time around to catch these crooks in the act, and hopefully I save your families hundreds of dollars and multiple freezing nights without heat because of them through my review.

Where do I start?
AWESOME experience from the beginning meeting Jared the sales rep, to 4 days later when the friendly, personable and most importantly professional service techs arrived for the install of my first ever AC unit in this home and the complete replacement of the 25-year-old heater.

This was not going to be an easy install (photos) because the heater and hot water tank were in the basement crawl space. Such a tight fit that I despised having to change the filter when needed.

When Marcus and Joel arrived, they quickly assessed that the hot water heater just installed 1 year ago by another contractor wasn't installed correctly to code. Long story short, Marcus and Joel assured me that they would make another contractors error and sloppiness right and legal, at zero charge ""because it's the right thing to do"". Their work was executed with precision and professionalism. 5 Stars...Need I say more!
