What a breath of fresh air to restore my faith in my fellow man. Called this morning because I busted off a pipe elbow while replacing my kitchen faucet last night. The break was behind the back-splash, inside the wall, and I could do nothing but shut off the main and hope I could get someone reliable to come out and do this today.
Darrow took my call first thing this morning and told me he could be out in the afternoon. Then he did the unthinkable and actually changed his schedule around to be able to come right out and take care of me first. He and his assistant were very professional and courteous. He explained what he was going to do and then went ahead and did it even though it turned out to be a bigger job than initially believed once the wall was opened up.
Again, so nice to get such attention and service. The price was more than reasonable given the amount of work he had to do. Given my situation someone else might have tried to take advantage. I highly recommend Hick's for cleanliness, timeliness, professionalism, and cost. Thanks Darrow.

Darrow and his crew were excellent. We called at 10pm with a major plumbing issue in our old home. Darrow was able to come out the next morning and in 2 hours had it resolved. Extremely courteous and polite with professional results. We will hire him again for future plumbing issues with our 90 year old home.

Darrell Hicks was available on a Sunday morning to help root out my main sewer drain. The night before we had sewege coming out in our bathtubs from backup.
He is a gentlemen, and a thorough worker. Advised me on how I could save some money later by buying a product on Amazon for future root control. When and if I need work later , he is my man. Finally, the fee was very fair, and less that I expected on a weekend job, or weekeday job.

Hicks Plumbing is the best. I live in Pasadena and had a faulty pressure regulator, it was making a horrible noise. I called Arroyo Plumbing, they came out for a look. They charged me $75 to take a ""look"", the guy glances at the regulator and said it would be about $750 to replace. ""Can you replace the washers and things in it?"" I ask, ""no it does not work that way"" is the reply. So, I snap a picture and email to two more plumbers, this does not sound right to me. I talk to Hicks Plumbing, they are very busy but can come in two days, he sounded nice and responsible. Ok, I will wait. He tells me on the phone, it will be about $100 to $150 for labor to replace, quick job. Plus the cost of a new regulator, if the old one cannot be fixed. Fixed? Arroyo Plumbing told me that is not how it works...ummm. Hicks comes over, says for about $100 he can replace the gaskets and washers and it usually works, but it is a risk. So, $750 from Arroyo Plumbing or $175 with labor from Hicks to rebuild. I say, let's take the chance and he rebuilds it in a half-hour and on his way.

It works fine, and Hicks was absolutely great. I will never go anyplace else. Arroyo Plumbing should be ashamed of themselves.

I called Hicks when my toilet was overflooring and Darrow came out 45 minutes later. He was prompt, professional and diagnosed the issue immediately. He moved things out of my garage to get to a valve or something he needed to access and put things back before leaving. He fixed a problem with an unrelated toilet (it had been making that annoying running sound for over 7 years!) and it took only a few minutes. He also had great advice on other service people would could help with a larger sewer problem for my HOA. It seems that the problem that manifested itself inside my house was because of a sewer system problem which belongs to our HOA. He even checked the system on a neighbor's property to make sure he knew the scope of the issue. He cleared the blockage for my system and charged me a reasonable rate for that.

I would HIGHLY recommend this company and Darrow. My home was as spotless as it was when he started. He went above and beyond what anyone else would have done. And, I loved that he thoroughly explained everything. Darrow is awesome! Call Hicks before you fall prey to any of the larger companies, like Roto Rooter or whatever they are called. I tried them before on an unrelated issue and had to ask them to leave my house due to their outrageous quote.
