I called Hicks Plumbing because of the great reviews on Yelp. I own a house where some of my relatives live, and I called Hicks to ask them to come out and look at a problem that was reported. I called on a Wednesday and asked them to call my family to set up the actual appointment. By Friday, no one had called, so my sister called them. They were to show up at 8:00 Monday morning. At 8:30 they called to say the wouldn't be there until 1:30. When they showed up, they decided that the floor was uneven (new flooring!) and they wouldn't do the work.

Last month my drain was clogged (big time). I called Darrow of Hicks Plumbing to come. I don't know where the main drain-out in the front garden is,
1) I requested him to put a CAMERA through the drain to check out the drain pipes all the way to the street. We looked through the pipes and found no roots growing into it, though the pipes are cast iron old pipes.
2) He next cleared the clogs from numerous sink holes in the house. Finally I found a main DRAIN-OUT hole inside the house and he cleared the big clog in the main line from there.
3) He used an ultra-sound machine to identity where the drain pipes in the front garden are.So this last month I digged through the soil in the front garden, and found the drain pipes two feet below the soil. Next time if there's a clog, the clog can be cleared from a NEW drain-out in the front garden.

I cannot say enough good about Darrow Hicks. I had a leak that proved to be something of a mystery as I had pipes that went under a part of my house that sits on a slab. Darrow investigated and eventually needed to re-route a number of pipes to avoid having to break up my cement foundation. I am so grateful for his skills and creative problem solving. Not only has he stopped the leak, but he has re-done the pipes such that I will never need to break through my foundation again. There were other snags along the way having to do with previous work on the house and he solved each one as it arose. He was incredibly
efficient, honest and respectful of my home. Also, he took the time to explain the issues clearly to me and how he proposed to solve them. I am a relatively new homeowner and it meant so much to me to feel that I had someone with integrity working on my house!

At last, an honest plumber!! Darrow and Hicks Plumbing are outstanding. When he says he'll be there at a certain time, he's there. He doesn't immediately jump to the most costly solution, but instead looks for less expensive, less invasive solutions first and when he estimates the cost, that is indeed what it will cost. Easy and fast electronic billing and payment. I highly recommend Darrow Hicks and Hicks Plumbing and would use their services again without hesitation.

Fast , efficient, reliable and honest! I had a plumbing emergency today and they were able to arrive within an hour and find and repair the problem almost immediately! They were very professional and respectful. If I have any problems in the future I will be more than willing to to avail my self of their services. Give them a call! I had a stopped drain (the kitchen and laundry line). A previous plumber couldn't get it clear and thought it might be a bigger problem. Since I was out of their area, they recommended I call someone else closer to me to follow up. I called Hicks. They arrived at the time they had approximated and they were able to get the drain clear. Hicks was certainly more expensive, $125 (vs the other place was $45, although they didn't charge me); however in my past experience, this price is totally in line with the cost I expected. And now my drain is clear and I can resume normal life.

Hands down one of the best plumber I have worked with. Darrell is very professional and extremely knowledgeable and he cares about his customers. I had a bad plumbing incident that left me with my pipes leaking that my water had to be turned off on a Friday late in the evening. I called Darrell and he was considerate to accommodate me at the end of his schedule and spent almost 2 hours after his normal work hour to help me get the lines fixed and turn the water back on. It would have been a disaster going into a weekend without water. Really a very reliable and efficient company around.

Darrow Hicks came out to repair the water line to my refrigerator, and inspect/evaluate the plumbing in our recently purchased house in Altadena. he fixed the water line and then made a thorough inspection, providing us with a detailed write up of his observations and recommendations. About a week later I called to have him reconfigure a gas line so our dryer could be installed. He took a look and concluded that we could make the proper and safe connection just by using a flex hose that was 12"" longer. He then showed me how easy it would be to install myself, and did not even charge me for the service call!
