Don't waste your time or money on this guy. Paid him to fix Hot Water Heater...did not repair, however, wanted to charge me again to fix the original problem.

Best experience working with Darrow!!! Guys, he is HONEST!!!!
Darrow came on time, and he answered all text/calls before our appointment. He fixed my shut-off valve for my washer, and did a great job.
His invoice was clear on prizing for parts ($45), and labor ($145).

I had 2 other quotes from 2 other plumbers for this same job.

1st quote was $1,050 (parts & installation) + $100 (for picking up the valve at the store). This guy made 2 unnecessary holes on my wall during inspection/quote. He said this was a 2 day job. Obviously to justify the hefty $1050 + $100 quote.

2nd quote $650 for parts & installation.

Ok, this is kind of bizarre, but after I paid the invoice IN FULL for all services he provided, I requested him to itemize out the bill to isolate the dishwasher install from the faucet install, as my flooring company was going to reimburse me for the dishwasher install (long story). In order to get reimbursed, they requested a separate invoice JUST for the DW install. So Darrow made a separate DUPLICATE invoice after-the-fact (again, paid in full). Well his invoicing system must remind him of ""unpaid"" invoices because months later he randomly hits me up to pay this extra invoice even though we paid in full for the job. Several years later and he is still trying to invoice me. He apparently is confused and even when I explain it he argues. Over it.

This plumbing service is own and operated by the most professional and honest person I have met in all my years of hiring people or contractors to do work for me! After a really bad experience with another local plumbing business who absolutely tried to rip my mother in law off this professional came in and did the job in record time and little expense! It is a pleasure to know there are still people out there that care enough about there work and there customers to do the job right and not take advantage of the elderly!

I had a clog in my toilet & Darrow answered the phone himself & came that same day. They snaked out the drain & all was well until the shower didn't drain a few days later. He came back & snaked it again at no charge, then gave me a long explanation of what may be an ongoing problem, with plenty of options. He was very responsive with fair prices, too!

I cannot speak to Mr. Darrow Hicks as a plumber or as to his business practices when it comes to his plumbing business but, as his former tenant in his rental home in Azusa, I can speak to his behavior and dealings as a landlord. Turns out his word is not his bond. I did not know where else to turn to warn perspective new tenants. Just beware and be sure to get everything in writing at the time of move in and move out. Do a written move in/move out inspection with him and be sure to take pictures of everything from the carpet to the tops of the ceiling fans as, even if you clean everything and have receipts to prove it, he will turn around and charge you for cleaning the tops of the ceiling fans and the tracks inside the sliding windows. We just moved out and we paid almost $600 to have the entire house and carpet cleaned and still deductions for cleaning were taken from our deposit. We loved living in this beautiful home in a beautiful area but the rent is quite expensive as is the deposit which you will not get back if you do not protect yourself from the outset.

Darrow is great! So glad I found him. We had been looking for a plumber for a long time. One guy seemed promising and then didn't even bother to call us back. Another guy - still an apprentice but we were desperate - made a really dumb mistake on a very straightforward task. (Installing a reverse osmosis water filtration system that a lot of people could probably just do themselves.) Needless to say, that did not inspire confidence to hire him for future, more complicated tasks. Finally we found Darrow. Very pleasant, professional and competent. Plus his prices are definitely fair. We got another highly rated plumber to give us an estimate and it was ALOT higher. Darrow took out an old toilet with super old plumbing and installed a new one in s house with ancient plumbing. Nothing went wrong and the new toilet looks and works great. So glad to have finally found a plumber!!

Thank you Darrow!!! I was having issues with my some of the parts on my toilet, so I decided to call Hicks Plumbing around 3pm. I asked if they do emergency/same day service and Darrow responded with a text and told me he can be there in a matter of minutes.
A few moments later, the toilet has been repaired and I can now flush with utmost confidence!
