They were a no-show to an appointment. When I called, I was told that the plumber showed up and nobody was home (except I was home the entire day). Never got a call, just missed the appointment and took a day off of work for nothing.

HD Johnson has given us terrible service both with our heating last winter and our A/C this summer. After being regular clients for years, over time we got mediocre service (and costly bills), I finally called their office this month to discuss the lingering technical issues we still have with them. I got lame excuses in return and now a threat to have my pending bill to collection. HD Johnson has been a huge disappointment. They used to be professional. Now they are just taking clients for granted and doing very poor quality work - still charging high prices. ( I am posting a negative review on Yelp for the first time ever.)

HD Johnson is the best! My experiences with the company over a number of years have been 100% excellent. Office and repair staff are professional, courteous, and more than that, kind. How many people are thrilled with their heating/cooling & plumbing company? I am.

After servicing my HVAC twice a year for seven years, HD Johnson found that one of my units, a Whalen unit, was not operating. They scheduled a separate visit to diagnosis the problem with the unit and charged me $216 for this diagnostic visit, which concluded that the compressor needed to be replaced. They said they would order the replacement. When I subsequently called to find out the status of the replacement, HD Johnson said that they don't service Whalen units. Thus, I had to hire another company and pay again for a diagnostic visit. I have requested that HD Johnson refund my $216 since it knew prior to the visit that diagnostic visit was for naught. I suspect that the useless diagnostic visit was the result of an internal miscommunication at HD Johnson -- nonetheless, it was their mistake, not mine, and I should not have to bear the cost. To date, HD Johnson has refused to provide the refund.

They promised to be here at 8am. I called back when they hadn't shown up by 8:30, and I was told ""He's on his way. We said he'd be there at 9. You must have misunderstood."" Woman on the phone was incredibly rude, gave me a ""whatever,"" told me I must have misunderstood. Just awful, rude and unacceptable customer service. With all of the qualified competition, skip HD Johnson and go with a company that cares about their customers.

I've had HD Johnson do work in my home before and they were fine, albeit expensive. This past February however, they had to come to my home 3 times, gave me 3 different reasons for the problem from 3 different service men and 3 different charges. The problem STILL isn't fixed and now they won't call us back. I do NOT recommend this company!

I had to give a star, but I am not in a position to review this company, because they have determined that SE DC, zip code 20020, outside of its service area. This is a 20 minute drive from their home base. I wanted to save others the trouble of calling them.

HD Johnson could not be more polite, patient and professional.
HD Johnson recently installed a new heating system for us.
The two person crew (Ivan and Rasheed) arrived promptly at 8am and worked diligently all day. It was not an easy task. A full day of long , hard work. Ivan was also politely and professionally instructing Rasheed as they went through the process. The two took pains to make a messy job, clean and unobtrusive. A more professional crew could not be imagined.
Marlon the overall supervisor was most helpful as well when he dropped in to check out the work. Marlon also helped us understand the operation of the new thermostat- no fault of HD Johnson but it took two visits to get two elderly types like my wife and me to understand how to program the thermostat. HD Johnson sent people before 8am days after the installation to handle this instruction.
We could not be more satisfied.

As a contractor, It is very difficult to find great tradesman. For some reason, Plumbers are the biggest Achilles heel. HD Johnson was not only professional, but ALL of their guys are top notch. I would recommend them to anyone. HD Johnson has done several projects with us and these guys know what they are doing.

Beware. This is one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with. We called them to repair our AC. The repairman said it couldn't be fixed but that maybe he could jerry-rig something to get it working again for $800. We said no thanks and bought a new AC. Some weeks later we got a bill for $1200. We disputed it and they reported us to credit agencies. So our choice was to pay for service we didn't receive or deal with the credit issues. We're still dealing with it. Stay away. You have been warned.
