Called them on a Sunday, and someone was able to come over within 3 hours. The repair went smoothly. I'll definitely use them for my plumbing needs.

I had a toilet making a god awful noise and called Hawkeye Sewer and Drain in the morning. The owner set up an appointment later in the afternoon. The plumber called me before coming over (he was on-time). As he fixed the toilet he told me what the problem was and what he was doing to fix it. I thought the price was reasonable and for sure I'd use these guys again.

I called Hawkeye today about some apparent leakage we had discovered from around our toilet. Not only did Joey himself actually answer the phone (on a Sunday morning), he was out here within two hours (arriving even a bit earlier than he had predicted, and even though it was not really an emergency), diagnosed the problem (our wax seal had dried out and water was seeping), and repaired it (reset the toilet) within an hour.

He was friendly, very knowledgeable, and very very helpful. When I mentioned we were going to be out of town for an extended period, he volunteered some further tips (recommended shutting off the water and the water heater), and even showed me how to relight the water heater pilot when we get back! His rates were reasonable, and his promptness and efficiency blew us away. I will definitely call Hawkeye again whenever I need a plumber, and tell everyone I know as well!

I called an about an hour later someone showed up he was very pleasant and explained a lot to me. My sink was leaking and I tried to replace it myself but ended up breaking the shut off valves instead so I called they showed up replaced the shut off valves for me and installed my new faucet. I will use them again they were reasonably priced.

I found this group in the Yellow Pages. I called them in the morning to come look at my sump pump and the said that they would be over at 6:00 in the evening. At 6:45 that night I get a call saying that they were across town, and would not make it by 7:00, and if they came after 7, they would have to charge me overtime. I thought I would give them another chance, and set up another time for the next night at 5:30. The person told me that ""I would be a priority"". The next day, they don't show up again! After being 45 minutes late, I call the main office, and the man on the other end was not sympathetic, but rather downright rude. I took off time from work two nights in a row to be home for this, and they wasted my time. Don't waste your money on this outfit.

Had a gentleman come out and replace a basement toilet wax seal. Was very thorough compared to another plumber I had come out a few months before for the same thing that we found out did nothing.

The new toilet has performed well. He explained why it flushed poorly and what products to use to keep it from clogging. Since his visit we've had no issues.

Unbelievably poor customer service. I've probably spent close to $5,000 with this plumbing company over the last 3-4 years because they can usually get out and take care of the issue quickly. Today was the final straw though. They went out to fix a sub pump issue at one of my rentals yesterday which caused the laundry room to flood a bit. I met them at the unit, and we decided to hook the sub pump up into the sewer line because the outside pipe was frozen. The drain was also clogged, and we were talking about that too and the plumber said he didn't know if he would have time to fix the clogged drain. I was thinking to myself that there's obviously a water problem here, and I was a little turned off that he may or may not fix the clogged drain. Then he literally told me he had to quit talking so he could work. I get a call today from a tenant who said water was backing up into their tub from the sub pump. So I call Hawkeye Sewer and Drain to speak with the guy who always answers the phone. Let me tell you a little bit about the guy who always answers the phone. Half the time he tells me that I can go and fix it myself. I have to politely explain to him that I am not a handy man nor am I a plumber nor do I have time to go and fix it myself. That's why I'm calling you, the ""plumber"", the go and fix my ""plumbing"" issue. Back to the matter at hand, the guy tells me that they can make a new pipe outside that won't get frozen. So I ask him how it won't get frozen. He then proceeds to interrupt my question and say, ""Brian, Brian... you have all the answers so why don't you go fix it yourself."" Then he hangs up. Yep, just hangs up on his customer. Other issues you'll have with Hawkeye Sewer and Drain: 1. We've always paid out bills and paid them on time with Hawkeye Sewer and Drain. But when you get their bill they really want to let you know it is ""Due on Receipt"" because they circle it with a big red circle and they also circle what you owe them with a big red circle. 2. They don't really clean up after themselves after they've completed the work. 3. The guy who answers the phone has absolutely no idea of how to address a customer or show them respect. One time I told him that I would prefer to get a call after they've finished, and he was like, ""Well there's nothing preventing you from calling us either."" I don't know how these guys stay in business. They can get to the problem pretty quickly and usually take care of it. Outside of that, they're an absolute disaster on the customer service front. Absolute disaster.

24 hour service advertised in the yellow pages, but this was not the case. Called on a Wednesday night with a back up in the garbage disposal and bath tub, but Jeff couldn't make it out until the next day. We phoned someone else.

I chose this company because of their good reviews on Yelp, but I just called them to see if they could come out and look at a leaky sink, and mentioned that we had a home warranty. I was trying to ask if they would follow the warranty's policy by calling them with the diagnosis before fixing the sink and they cut me off by saying ""Good luck with that"" before I could even finish asking my question. I can see why companies may not want to work with a home warranty company, but I was planning to pay in full and submit the claim for reimbursement to the company myself. Didn't give me the time to explain that, though. Sorry I have a home warranty and want to use it, but I probably won't be a customer here even when it runs out.
