6 hours wait for an inadequate service.
Happy Sam's plumbing is certainly not a plumbing service I'd call up anymore. You would think that a 10 am appointment would mean that they would show up at 10 am but no one showed up until 4 pm. This was just a blatant disrespect for my time as I had to stay home the whole time. Naturally, I tried to contact their phone number repeatedly but no one was picking up. They did not even seem to care that they were late when they finally showed up. Moreover, it took them 3 days to fix a drywall problem which was charged $1000. On the bright side though, they gave us a six month warranty if anything were to go wrong, which it did - And again they were impossible to contact. We even drove to the address they gave us but just ended up in a residential area where no one was even at the door. The thousand dollar service was a truly disappointing one and definitely not worth even half that.

I have been using Happy Sam's Plumbing for over 10 years. I never call anyone else. We had a leaky spigot in the front yard and Al sent Solomon. Solomon was on time. He quickly Assessed the problem and fixed the leak. He was professional, personable and efficient. My husband was happy with what he had done but Solomon showed up this morning saying he wanted to improve on what he had done. Now that is a true professional!

Sam was professional, accessible, and speedy. He accommodated our schedule for an emergency issue with our pipes and got it fixed that same day. Great customer service. As a prior customer, I would highly recommend him. Thank you Sam!

★★☆☆☆

Two stars for rudeness, disrespect of my time and lack of credit card reader.
See detailed review below.

In the past year, I used Happy Sam's Plumbing three times. First two times were okay. They showed up the same day and weren't too late meaning they didn't come one hour later. First time I had a leak in my bathroom. Two young guys showed up and fixed leaking toilet and clogged pipes. They were nice and quick. The charge was reasonable. They had a credit card reader machine (note that) at that time, and I tipped them $20 for doing a good job.

I was happy with the service so when my kitchen sink got clogged, I called Sam's Plumbing to fix it. Once again, my experience was good, and I had no complaints.

Recently, the water tank of my toilet broke down so I called them on Wednesday afternoon to see if they could come fix it. The man on the phone sounded annoyed. He said they were too busy at that moment but if they finished early, they'd give me a call, if not, they'd come first thing in the morning. I asked, ""What time is that?"" You know, ""first thing in the morning"" means different things to different people. He said they'd come at 7am, and I agreed.

The next day, I woke up at 6:30am and started waiting for them to show up. They didn't come. I called them around 10:30-11am, and they guy on the phone told me that they forgot because they put me for different time for some reason, and that they'd send someone who'd show up within an hour or two. In 40 minutes, the older man came. I told him that there were two problems. First, water was dripping from the bottom of my tank but when the handle broke down it stopped but then I had to flash by putting my hand in water and lifting the flapper up. I suggested that perhaps we needed to replace the toilet tank. The man said he'd take a look and after that told me that he'd just get the new handle. I said OK because I trusted an experienced professional who fixes this type of things every day. He went to get the parts, and in one hour everything was done. He charged me $120 total, $90 for labor and $30 for the parts.

He asked me how I wanted to pay. I said I want to pay with my credit card. Then he took out his invoice and started writing down my CC info including my name, number, zip code, and security code in the back of the card! I said I am not comfortable leaving my CC info like that. The man said that was the only way and that they do it to other customers, too. He proved it by showing me other invoices with CC infos. This is SO NOT SAFE! Just imagine, if they lose their invoices and they get to the hands of wrong people. Someone can just go on a shopping spree with CC infos of other people and have a good time. They'd have everything they need to do that! Since I had no other methods of payment, I did it but took a photo of the invoice for my records. Can you believe it, he didn't even give me the carbon copy of my invoice!

As soon as the man left, I noticed that the water started to drip from the bottom of the toilet tank again so I called Sam's Plumbing and asked if the man could come back and take a look what went wrong. The man on the phone said sure. One hour and twenty minutes went by. No one showed up. I called again and asked when they were planning to come approximately. The man on the phone said they were busy, and it would be after 6pm (Why couldn't he tell me that earlier?) He added that the man only fixed the handle and that nothing was dripping. WHAT DOES IT MATTER THAT NOTHING WAS DRIPPING? It started dripping after he fixed things so it means that most likely he messed something up or perhaps didn't listen to me when I explained the problem in the first place.

I told him that I couldn't wait till 6pm (Seriously?! You want me to spend the whole day waiting for you to come and go?!) because I had other things to do. I asked if we could reschedule for Saturday, 3pm. Reasonable, right? The man hesitated and said they would come on Thursday morning. I couldn't do neither Thursday nor Friday because I had to work from morning till evening. I have three jobs. Now imagine my work schedule. It was bad enough that half of my Wednesday got messed up because they didn't show up in the morning.

I had to repeat that I couldn't do Thursday morning three times for the man on the phone to agree to come on Saturday 3pm. Guess what? It's after 4pm right now, and they are not here, and not because they fixed everything already but because they didn't show up AGAIN! This time I am not calling them. I am going to contact another plumber instead.

This is rude, inconsiderate and disrespectful. I understand that plumbers are busy with other clients but this is not the way to treat their returning loyal customers. If you can't show up, at least make a courtesy call! Try to reschedule appointments for the time that works for both parties.

Also, it's true that the State of CA contractor's license of Sam's Plumbing expired in 2012. So did their worker's comp

Called Sam about a clogged kitchen sink. He showed up within 1 hour, unclogged the sink and charged a fair price of $95. Will definitely use Happy Sam's for future plumbing needs. Highly recommended!

Sam and his crew cut and replaced our clean-out valve top, cleared our backed-up main line, offered a 1-year warranty and did it for a very reasonable price! On a Saturday with short notice I might add. And, when it backed up the following week, they were back out to access another clean-out and unclogged the main a second time...at NO charge to us. Sam's a man of his word, he's good at what he does, and I sincerely believe that he really enjoys helping people. We are lucky to have found him and his team. HIGHY recommend!

Btw, just wanted to add that I had previously written a much longer, more candid review of Happy Sam's Plumbing. But decided that someone who's looking for a plumber doesn't necessary want to read a 5 paragraph review...even if it did have some funny stuff in it. ;) So I condensed my review to the main talking points so readers like you can get what you need without my long-winded description of why Sam and his team kick butt. But, there's not enough nice things I could have said about our experience. :)
