Chris from Habit came out as part of American Home Shield (AHS) warranty. The experience with AHS was not good, but the folks at Habit and Chris made up for it. They called and gave us a scheduling window and Chris called when he was about an hour away. He arrived, found the problem with the water heater and installed the new part. No attempt to upsell or anything negative. Very professional.

Updating my previous review from 1 star to 3, the technician Daniel was very nice, professional, knowledgeable, and patiently talked me through the steps he took to fix my faucet. All my issues with this company are with the scheduling, so my rating is not higher since it is frustrating to have to wait for 4 hours just for no one to show up, or to have someone show up on a different date and time than discussed. Other reviewers have mentioned scheduling issues, so hopefully the company takes a hint and works to improve on that. If you decide to go with habit (or have no choice due to your home warranty), ask for an email confirmation for your appointment and request Daniel if you can.

I put in a service request to home warranty company, AHS, due to one of my water heaters not working properly. They informed me that Habit would call to schedule an appt. I checked out their reviews and needless to say I was not thrilled that they were coming to inspect the problem. Chris showed up and informed me that there apparently was a mouse that had taken some pellets of dog food into the bottom of the water heater, which in turn, might be causing the water heater to shut off. He explained that he would have cleaned out the debris had he had the right tools. This would have been a small little broom. He reported his guess to AHS and they, of course, denied my claim saying that I was not covered for problems caused by mice. Since Chris did not clean up what he guessed might have been the problem, I did it myself. Afterward, the problem I reported persisted. I contacted Chris of Habit Plumbing and he stuck to his analysis that a mouse caused the problem which let to the water heater shutting off. I had requested he come and fix the problem but he stuck with his story that the mouse caused the problem. If you read reviews on this company, it appears that many of the people have had similar experiences. Very unprofessional. Poor service. A scam. I would never do business with this outfit.

Dan was great: I could tell he cares about his customers and he fixed the stoppage and explained everything along the way. He also gave me a call beforehand as promised. Five star service.

One suggestion not related to the service itself: I would like to see Habit reach out to the customer after the warranty claim is submitted, but this may be an issue with the home warranty company. I hadn't heard anything for a couple of hours after submitting the claim, so I contacted Habit, and they told me when I was scheduled. The person answering the phone was polite, and sounded busy. I appreciated that they told me where I was in line when they put me on hold, and the hold time was quite reasonable.

I realize there are lots of issues related to home warranty policies and service (I've had some dissapointments with my warranty company and some of their other service providers myself), but my experience here with Habit Plumbing was very good.

Wes showed up, had dozens of theories, none of which panned out, then left without offering a solution. He said he would get back to me after the weekend, but didn't. Wouldn't return calls or text messages.

Called the home warranty company again a couple of weeks later to see what the deal was, since neither Wes nor the dispatcher would return calls. They sent Wes back out. He came up with another half dozen theories, said he didn't know enough, and would have to watch some youtube videos, then get back to me. He didn't. He wouldn't return calls or texts, and after several weeks I contacted the home warranty company again, to find out that he reported to them that my water heater (which delivers 199 degree Farenheit water when the set point is 115 degrees [or 99 degrees, or 122 degrees, or...]) is fine and that I have a water flow constriction (which isn't covered, but more importantly, isn't true).

My water pressure and flow are all textbook perfect. He lied because he doesn't know how to solve the problem (nor does he understand anything about tankless water heaters -- I do).

I called another plumber for a second opinion. That plumber said the water heater was shot, and needed to be replaced. So I called the home warranty company, and they sent another plumber to get a second opinion for them. That plumber also said the water heater was shot and needs to be replaced.

Wes and Habit Plumbing cannot be recommended. Steer clear.

Was referred by our home warranty (American Shield). The work done was fine, the plumber was polite so this is in no way a reflection of him. The problem is scheduling. The job required multiple appointments, moving the water heater so construction work could be done then after replace the water heater. One appointment was on the day it was scheduled though not within the window. Another day I received a call in the afternoon that they wouldn't make it that day and would come out the next. The final appointment with a window of 10-2, I was called at 1 and told it would be closer to 2 because the plumber was behind. At 3 he called to say he wouldn't be able to come until 6-7pm or he could do the next day. I felt bad and could tell he didn't want to come out so agreed to the next day and was told I had the 8-12 window. He didn't arrive until 1.
I understand you can't predict how long appointments are but I've never been canceled hours after my appointment slot and rescheduled multiple times for another day. My guess is the company is over scheduling and it's not the plumbers fault. Since they're being used by a home warranty company unless the company drops them I can't imagine anything will change

Horrible service! Would not use them if they were the last company around. Have a leaky water heater and they lady called was rude and basically told me they have no time until next week. Who does that!!! I have never had a plumbing company not come out especially for something that needs immediate attention! Stay clear of this company!

Avoid these guys at all cost. They are hand in glove running a scam with "" Home Warranty "" companies to bilk homeowners. If you have been referred to them by your home warranty company, call back and insist on getting an OSA...outside service authorization...it is the only means to get an honest repair done.
I was never told I could get another plumber. And after 45 days of no water, contacted a lawyer, the Cal State licensing board, and the Cal Insurance Commissioners office. I am now in the process of suing both Habit and American Home Shield for Breach of Contract.

Have to use them because of AHS. Absolute NIGHTMARE I have been waiting THREE WEEKS for them to call me and put my water heater back where it belongs. I also lost all hot water to my master bath as soon as they installed the temp water heater. They do not answer the phone, they do not call you back. GARBAGE COMPANY - RUN

Got assigned via home warranty claim to fix a toilet. At appointment time, I got a call that the plumber's truck broke down and that I would get a call on Monday from the office to reschedule. No call. I called them several days later and the soonest they could schedule was another week and a half later. So, no toilet for almost 3 weeks and the plumber arrived and said he needs to order parts. 4 weeks go by and I talk to the home warranty company to complain. Then they call and a very rude woman tells me that they spoke to me previously and I told them that I didn't need the repair anymore so they sent the parts back. Ummmm, NO, they lied about that. Then she said they don't know what parts they even ordered in the first place and they will need a picture of my toilet so that they can remember what they need to order... Wow!
