Don't bother calling Habit. Was referred by American Home Shield for kitchen faucet whining and spewing water. They couldn't send plumber for at least a week! Useless! Would rate 0 stars if possible.

I get it, working with your home warranty company AHS sucks. There are limitations to what any contractor can do when trying to address your problem because some times their hands are tied with what the warranty company will allow them to do. And yes we all get impatient with service calls. But ones needs to be told the truth by the contractor also.

So here's my experience with AHS & Habit and specifically Chris, the plumber who came out both times. Chris called to notify me that he was on his way and showed up within his window, was polite, and very knowledgeable. He diagnosed that the water heater as the pilot electronic switch was bad and stated he could order it but that would not be the best repair in the long run. He thought that replacing the water heater would be a better idea. The new pilot cost was in the range of a couple of hundred dollars but it would have to be ordered since they do not carry that product. The property was rental and the tenants wanted the water heater working as fast as possible. He stated that there be zero or minimal charge to replace the water heater. In any case I when with the water heater replacement.
On the day of the installation, late Friday afternoon, I noticed a message from AHS. It stated that I needed to give them a credit card number so they could run the additional charges in the amount of $575.00 for the water heater replacement. I had a lot of trouble getting through to AHS and when I did they said I needed to call Habit. I immediately called Chris to find out that the items consisted. The first was a new pan under the water heater $100.00. I had a new pan but they said they could not use it, it had to be one of theirs. The pan I had cost $30.00 from HD. The best they had. Also they needed to put in new supply lines even though the ones on the water heater were braided steel. Chris said AHS needed to use new ones. Well, the bill just kept going up with stupid lame charges . Chris said it was out of his control since these were levied by AHS. My complaint with Chris was that he told me straight to my face that the charges at the time of the diagnosis if any would be minimal. In any case, I stopped the installation. Let's go with the pilot replacement would have cost me only the service charge.
Problem with this idea was that it could not be ordered until Monday. I could not be in a worse time position, for if it had been my home I could make due without hot water, but the tenants had already been patient with the situation. I did not want any more to do with AHS or with Habit at this point so I just told AHS that I wanted to cash out the repair. I would deal with getting the water heater repaired. I called a plumber that had done extensive underground copper repairs on my personal residence. He came out immediately. The tenants had the new water heater up and running within two hours. With the cash out of $600.00, I just about broke if i had to pay the $575.00 to AHS for water heater installation. The new water heater cost me $1,300.00. But the frustration was done and over and Habit did not get any work from me.
I immediately cancelled my contract the AHS and will never do business with them again. My bad hiring American Home Shield.

This is my second bad exerience with Habit Plumbing. This is the company my home warranty uses so I don't have a choice with service providers. The first time a technician came out, he was awesome, but lacked the materials needed to complete the necessary repairs and said he would be back within a couple weeks. A month went by with nothing except notice from the warranty company the plumber indicated the job was completed. We re-opened a request and Habit confirmed a technician would be out today from 2-6 pm. I took the afternoon off work, which is not easy to do, and bo one showed up to do the work. Their customer service in the scheduling office is much below sub-standard and unresponsive. DO NOT USE THIS PLUMBING COMPANY!!! If I could give negative stars, I would. The one star is only because I had no other option.

AHS assigned my claim to Habit Plumbing when my water heater stopped working on Sunday. On Monday I was able to get an appointment scheduled for Wednesday morning (I was given a time window). Dan called me to advise he was on his way. He arrived, checked out the issue and replaced the bad part within 30 minutes! He was very courteous, professional yet friendly and personable! A positive experience overall by Habit Plumbing and Dan!

So here's my experience with Habit and specifically Chris, the plumber who came out both times. Chris called to notify me that he was on his was. He showed up within his window, was polite, and very knowledgeable. We had a sewage odor which unfortunately he could not find, which required us to hire another plumber with special equipment. Once we found the leak, Chris came back out which was 7 months later and he remember us. He looked at our issue and unfortunately to repair required a specific device which he did not do, which I had a feeling they might not. But he agreed with the diagnosis and the fix and reported his findings to our home warranty. Although, I cannot speak on the quality of work, I can say that Chris and the people answering the phone were all very nice and pleasant to work with.

I am writing this review for the person who wants a 5 Star plumbing business to work on your home. My Hot Water Tank stopped working. I called Habit Plumbing, and Jose came out right away. He looked at my tank and told me it was on it's last leg (haha). I was very impressed with the knowledge that he had, his kindness, and the way he explained everything to me so the lay person could understand. Jose ordered me a new tank.
Angela, the office manager, called me every day until the tank came in, and then scheduled me with Jose (I asked for him).
My garbage disposal just broke. I called Habit, and once again, asked for Jose. He is supposed to be here in an hour or so, with a new disposal.
5 Stars for Habit Plumbing! It is MY HABIT to call them when I need a good plumber!

I had a slab leak under foundation of a rental that I was a tenant in and the owner had several estimates. Habit came out (Sergio) and found exactly where the leak was and the estimates was by far the best one we received. So highly recommend this company, they are professional and very reasonable. I will be using them in the future for all my housing needs.. I wish I had them when I lived in San Marcos...

We were assigned Habit Plumbing through our home warranty company, Old Republic. I went onto Yelp to look at reviews and was immediately concerned. However, those concerns were allayed when Chris/Habit arrived at our home. First, he called about 15 minutes before arrival, once here, he was polite, efficient and fixed our leaking faucet. I do not usually write reviews, but because of all the negative verbiage, mostly attached to American Home Warranty Co., I felt compelled to do so. Perhaps the problem is the before-mentioned warranty company?

Horrible service, they fixed nothing and never bothered to inform me of what they were doing, and damaged my home. If you have a choice, use any other plumbing company and you would be much better off!!! They don't get any worse than Habit plumbing.

The idiot they sent out couldn't even successfully snake a drain. I hired another plumber and they cleared the drain in two minutes. And this was after the Habit ""plumber"" spent 20 minutes trying to snake my drain, spilled drano on my bathroom mat and ruined it, and left a huge mess in my bathroom. This was the most incompetent plumber I have ever seen and he left a bigger mess than any vendor I've ever allowed in my home.

I should sue them for damaging my property.

Horrible, unprofessional, scam scums. One star is way too overrating for these hacks. We've been without a toilet for over two weeks. Jose came out during the first week and two-faced all the things a customer wants to hear. Then American Home Shield denied my claim (which I was covered for, and DO NOT recommend AHS for any coverage, but that's another review) and Habit Plumbing had the audacity to quote a price to have their company fix the problem which I am covered for. Absolutely sub-standard. Every time I tried to speak with a representative from AHS regarding the denial, Habit Plumbing gave them a different reason why they couldn't fix it. Good thing I have all the responses recorded. So now I'm off to the store for parts to fix myself. Thanks for wasting my time and money. Habit Plumbing, don't be surprised if you find a lawsuit on your doorstep for fraud, and Jose, I hope you step in gum in a parking lot.
