American Home Shield gives me no other option but to have Greenway do our hot water heat repair.

Let's count the ways how Greenway totally sucks.

1. Tell you things need to be changed to meet code but they are wrong and make stuff up.
2. Untrained guys that come to your house but don't know what they are talking about.
3. Over charging you.
4. Rude on the phone.
5. Can't tell you any details behind and decisions.
6. Tell you to call AHS with any questions and they don't know either.
7. Ask people about Greenway, their reputation is really bad.

Well, where to start? We had Greenway come out 41/2 yrs ago to replace a water heater that had gone out on a very cold day in winter and they did the work same day and we were very happy, albeit out quite a bit of $. Well, last week, 5 days before Christmas, the gas control valve went out on said water heater. Called Greenway to come out, part was still under warranty, would take two days to order, according to the tech who was in my home maybe less than five mins.Waited those two days, the Friday before Christmas Eve and the dispatcher says she doesn't know where our part is and when it will get put on. We are facing the prospect of Christmas with no hot water. Can't do hot laundry, wash ourselves,or our dishes. It was getting bad. Loaded up in the car with two kids and the dog and drove to my parents home 40 mins away just to get a shower.Monday came, same story. Fred, the plumbing manager said it would be several more days.We are now on day 8 with no hot water and my kids are so upset. it has ruined their Christmas. I will never use Greenway ever again, even with a warranty.

Worst service company for home warranties. American Homeshield uses them for all services, and I've called them for different things over the past 2 years of homeownership. Here's a list of reasons they got 1 star:

-If you're a single woman homeowner or a woman at home alone be prepared to feel uncomfortable in your home with some of their technicians, who get aggressive because they are 2 hours behind schedule and hate their job-- like the other 80% of blue collar America.

Be prepared to be charged for bull diuretics i.e. to come out multiple times because they have to order a part.; to answer a request for irrigation pipe and then say oh, we don't service irrigation.

I've had to call their office and request to speak with management 2 out of 3 times in which they have come out. This group is a waste of money. Google, Home Depot, and your non mechanic Dad will be better for the majority of your home needs.

One star is to good for them.
American Homeshield home warranty company sent Greenway Home Services to repair my cooktop, they give you a five hour window for the tech to show up, right I want to sit around 5 hours waiting on a tech to show. The first appointment he showed up three hours into the five hour window, not bad I guess, he said he had to order parts for our cooktop. One week later I get a call from the appointment person and was told they had the parts and the tech would come out the next day between noon and 5pm, the tech finally shows up at 6:30pm spends an hour and a half working on the cooktop only to say he has the wrong parts and will have to re-order the parts, this was the same tech that ordered the parts. The following week I get a call from the scheduler and say they will be out on Friday am between 8am and noon. The main thing I forgot to mention is this is Thanksgiving week!! This repair was started on November seventh the next appointment is scheduled for November twenty fifth, YAY a day after Thanksgiving, so no cooktop to prepair Thanksgiving dinner!! Had to go out and buy a couple of hot plates to try to cook for Thanksgiving. Repair is still not completed!!
Do not use Greenway, they could care less that they hire incompetent techs and you have to suffer for it!!

Have to use Greenway because of American Home Shield (another company I'm about to drop like a bad habit) ...

Called Greenway about the clog, as they are the local contractor that AHS uses for almost everything. They came out ... left a mess ... *but*, they came on time and seemingly fixed the clog. Tech said he hit some roots and cleaned them out and all was well.

THREE DAYS LATER ... and unfortunately, over a weekend, the same problem pops up. Called Greenway again. They came out ... send the *same tech* ... and this same tech hits MORE ROOTS (meaning he didn't do a thorough job the first time), cleared out the clog and left. Problem solved for a second time.

ONE DAY AFTER THE SECOND VISIT ... same problem. Talked to the Customer Service Manager @ Greenway after hours and I genuinely get the feeling from her that they're gonna resolve this and make it right. I get a call from them @ 745AM the next morning (today) and she tells me that they're pretty much done with the problem. They won't warranty their work on this issue (her words, not mine). Then, I'm told the only solution is to let them come out and do $800-$1200 worth of work to install a ""clean out"" in our yard. Other than that, they're done. Nothing more they can do.

So ... no camera to determine the shoddiness of the previous work. No new tech to go behind the one that had to take two trips to *not* fix the problem. No new nothing. Just a way for them to come out and make a huge cash grab on the money they lost on less than optimal work.

I understand it's in their best interest to move on and cut bait. However, it's not my fault they choose to do business with a home warranty company.

That being said, if a ""clean out"" is what's ultimately needed, I can guarantee you that Greenway will not be doing it for me, as I was less than impressed with their plumbing work on what seems to be a very simple issue.

I will also be dropping AHS, as I am left with hours on the phone ... and $175 worth of ""work"" that fixed nothing. From here on out, I will choose my own plumber and break even. The American Home Shield ""peace of mind"" is a myth once you actually need them for anything.

So, I'm out $175 at this point to STILL have a main sewer line clog ... and Greenway's answer isn't a different tech ... or a camera ... or an apology ... it's a $800-$1200 service call or nothing.

My AC went out at about 7 pm in 100 degree weather. When I called American Home Shield because AC is covered in my home warranty, I got a computer. It said they would set up appointment time with Greenway and to expect a call back. I waited. Brought two fans. Then the next day, I called Greenway and spoke to a very receptive rep who said AHS hadn't notified them yet (I guess because the warranty gives them 48 hours) but she would schedule me anyway. It was a Friday, appointment was Monday. And it happened!!!! Two guys arrived on time and went to work. Filters needed replacing, freon was leaking, thermostat wasn't communicating with ac unit. I was expecting massive money even after the warranty. I was also expecting Andre&Co to say I needed massive work done, maybe even a new unit. Instead they spent a few hours (part of it in the attic) and gave me a bill that was only what the warranty didn't cover (the freon and the service charge), including advice on maintenance. I couldn't wish for better or had a better experience. The next day I got a call asking if the work had been satisfactory. Yes. And yes, the AC works.

Sad to hear all the bad reviews. I have had AHS for 13 yrs now and without issues. They have sent Greenway many times for various issues. Microwave ,disposal, something broken on hot water heater, refrigerator ice maker, furnace issues, and every time they were on time completed work promptly or replaced said appliance within 24 hrs. All employees were nice helpful willing to educate customer. Good company to deal with both

I'm done using greenway...they tell you to call in the AM and calls go straight to VM and not returned. You ask if a part is in town or special order, they tell you we will call you by end of day which prevents you from checking with other companies.... They take the part out of your system to bring to the ware house so you can't call another company. Good luck trying to get them to bring it back...

Rude call center, no one returns messages and they certainly do not live up to Whit Greenways promise of ""showed up when he said he was going to, always did what he said he would and he never made promises he could not keep""..

My air went out on a Sunday evening. I posted a service through American Homeshield.
Greenway was assigned to me. I am giving them a 4.5 because they couldn't get to me on Monday and I had to spend a night in a hotel. I was assigned a time between 1 and 5 on
Tuesday. When they hadn't arrived or called by 4:40, I was panicky and called them. I was told that the technician was detained on his earlier call but still coming, not to worry. I didn't believe it would happen so late in the evening, but at 5:30 Kent arrived and by 6 pm, he had my unit up and running. I was so impressed by his enthusiasm. Most repairmen would probably be a little upset to still be working at that hour. He was very polite and thoroughly explained the problem to me. I have been assigned Greenway on other jobs over the years and as usual have been very pleased with my results.

First off we had a 12 to 5 pm service window, and the tech didnt show up until 6:45pm with absolutely no notice of being late or apology for being late. The tech stated that our unit was low 2 pounds of feon , I then questioned if he was going to check for leaks. I was told by him that I had no leaks , I have spoken to other AC companies sense then and was told a AC unit is a closed system and if you are low then there has to be a leak because the freon has escaped. I dont know if going through American Home Shield has a difference how they treat customers but not being truthful should never be a option.
