This company is a scam. Came out due to a sewer back up and offered ""the best fix"" promising a liner that is guaranteed for 50 years with limited damage to my yard. Just a small hole that they will leave as they found it and it might need a little seed. The price was huge but they convinced us it was the best option. Crew showed up on time and quickly let me know the job I was quoted would be impossible without cutting into my basement floor and moving the stairs. They offered to replace the pipe which would be quicker and easier. I did agree. They tore up my entire yard but did the job very quickly. Left by lunch telling me they had another job and left my yard a complete mess. Told me the job was a flat fee and still the same price despite not installing the $7000 liner and labor taking half the time. Re wrote the quote up charging all the items to match the price they wanted and forged my signature . City inspector says it's still not fixed and they did a terrible job so now city contractors are coming out to fix the mess they made. What did they do to make up for their mess? They send me cookies infested with ants. Do not hire this company and do not agree to digitally sign anything. They will use your signature to add to any contract they wish.
I hired Grapids Home Services to replace my air conditioning system and heater. Although they were more expensive than other companies, I received quotes from, I chose them based on the promise that the work would be done correctly and up to code -- no shortcuts, just quality workmanship. Unfortunately, that promise was not delivered.
They did open a permit with the City of Grand Rapids, which is standard practice, but the installation did not pass inspection. It became evident that their team lacked a solid understanding of city codes, and I was told that the system wouldn't pass without major alterations to my home -- something that was never discussed during the planning or quoting phase.
The few minor issues they attempted to fix afterward were done sloppily, lacking the professionalism I expected from a company that presents itself as a premium service provider.
In short, I was sold on the idea that Grapids would ""do it right,"" but they failed to meet that expectation. For the higher cost I paid, I anticipated a smooth process and code-compliant work -- not additional headaches and costly complications. I would urge others to ask detailed questions about code compliance and past inspection history before committing.
Excellent service for Summer tune-up, including furnace, AC check and preventative, plus a Hot Water Heater flush. Blake was Professional, informative, competent, and friendly. I've recommended Blake, and I've requested him for our Fall scheduled maintenance. (trust.)
Stephanie C.I was recently shopping around to add a AC mini split unit into my upper floor and when I put a request in with Grapids, I got a phone call within the hour to schedule a free estimate home walk-through. The person was able to come that morning and walk me through what the cost would be and alternatives for my request. The person, John, was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. He gave me a couple different options and we walked through what would make the most sense financially and aesthetically while the option that I chose was not the most cost-effective, it made the most sense for my home and what my goal was, and he acknowledged that immediately which I really appreciated. A lot of people usually push the higher price point but he recognize the important pieces of my home and what was important to me and acknowledged why that would be the better option for me but allowed me the opportunity to do to really think about it versus pushing the higher price. He did give me a lower priced option that could work for my home but acknowledged that it might not work the way that I wanted to and could change the functionality of the flow of my home and I didn't necessarily want that. Given that level of honesty, I really appreciated that and didn't mind choosing a higher cost option. He and I worked through with the budget and what the cost would be, and based on their availability, he was able to give me a discount for my flexibility, which was really appreciated. They were able to complete the work within the week and the gentlemen that were in my homework, extremely professional, very prompt, and I am extremely happy with the work. They were able to pull all of the permits and provide me with everything that I need knowing that my home is a bit older and requires a little bit more finesse. I look forward to using the service again in the future. Should my home need additional HVAC support.
Do not trust any repair recommendations the techs suggest ! All they care about is upselling unneeded furnace repairs to increase their profit margin ! They told us our brand new furnace needed over $1,000 in repairs. 10 years later our furnace didn't need any of the suggested fixes. If you call them for a low cost furnace or AC tuneup be prepared for a sales pitch to sell you more fixed you don't need. You've been warned !
William H.This company is an example of a get in your door at a cheap price and try to find something wrong so they can charge you a crap ton of money for a service you may or may not need.
I called them to have them service my furnace last winter and the tech that came out showed me ""issues"" and said I need to replace my furnace and that they suggest doing the hvac as well because of course they do $$$.
Anyway I called a local licensed professional who came out the day after and not only properly serviced my furnace but also explained what to look out for and informed me that I had a solid 8 to 10 years left on it.
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! They quoted me a price of 5600.00 to redo my toilet stack in the basement. I called a Plummer friend. He said that was outrageous! I called Mr. Rooter. Jason was professional, hew worked so hard and got my problem solved for 1/10 of the cost I was quoted!
Gregory J.Would not recommend. They say they will call and reach out and they do not. They do not share information about their products until after install, it was a terrible experience from beginning to end. After all was said and done they charged me over a 500% markup on a hot water heater purchased from Lowes and then added labor on top of it with no added value. They took 2 days to install it after saying it would take 2 to 3 hours and didn't do it correctly. Then only reached out when when it came to getting paid.
First time customer. Horrible experience. Rescheduled 3 times. Told I would get free service, then tech says $230. Very bad communication. I spoke to them 5 times trough out to confirm what was needed and what was included. They sent someone to service the water heater not the boiler. Called when he was here to straighten it all out and was assured and apologized too for the lack of communication to find his manager told him to charge for an included item anyway. Kid was nice but we sent them on their way. What an unprofessional mess!!
This company is a joke. We had them come to do a yearly checkup on our furnace. We were not/nor have we had any issues, just wanted their ""tune up"" they proceeded to fill out a very long report on everything that was wrong with our furnace. Next day their sakes girl comes, gives us her pitch and when we said we want another opinion, she became VERY pushy. We had another company come out the following week....big surprise...nothing wrong with the furnace AND Grapids never did the tune up!!!!! We'd like our money back, but I doubt that will ever happen
