I've used Godwin Plumbing a few times over the years. Twice for a water heater (the first one only lasted 4 or 5 years) and once for a furnace and new central AC unit.
I received a quote today to replace a whole home humidifier (an AprilAire 600M) which can be purchased online from reputable retailers from $219 - $275) Their quote was $900. Nearly $700 in labor for a modest install by any HVAC standards. Grab your wallet.

Godwin replaced our 50-gallon hot water heater in January, 2025 for $2,585.75. They replaced the same heater in 2013 for $1,206.75. The price, all in, more than doubled since 2013. We questioned the large increase in price but were told that prices had gone up. The heater was the same size and manufacturer. We agreed to the price because they were already here on a service call and could replace it immediately. We should have shopped around. We were ripped off. We have used Godwin for years but not any more.

Great experience with Godwin's! I'm new to the area and cold called them about a potential job. I worked with Scott initially, who was wonderful, and Nate Y did the actual work, which was amazing. They were easy to work with and did great work. I plan to hire them for another project.

Don't waste your time or money...find a business with owners who care, demonstrate integrity and treat people like they would want to be treated. Hardware and plumbing services are not in short supply in this area...go elsewhere.

These people are terrible, my experience could not have been worse. Wasted $400 and a lot of time trying to deal with the nonsense of the people working there. Save yourself the money and just go somewhere else. I'm all for supporting local small businesses, but these guys are a joke

This place is the real deal! Chad offered a solution to my plumbing issue that came in at $100 less than I expected to pay. Great service without an attempt to sell you something you don't need! Highly recommended!

The pipe going thru our water meter was dripping quite a lot. I called Godwin and talked to Ty in the service Dept. He told me that he would call the city to arrainge a time for them to come out and turn the water off at the street, and he'd coordinate with the repairman so the pipe could be fixed quickly. But first, he told me a home repair trick that worked! So, no service call, no need for city help! It was like having a realitive walk you thru the repair!!

I needed my sprinkler system inspected per the City of Grand Rapids code. Unfortunately for me I missed the first two notices a s I was in and out of the hospital. I called Godwin and explained my situation to Ty who not only scheduled my inspection he also texted Mike at the City of GR to explain everything was now scheduled. Today Mike stopped by to inspect my system and explained how things worked and everything was up to code. He also showed me possible issues that may happen after 10 years such as the spring or seals may go bad causing a leak. He said not to worry as the system Fliers installed was great. Great service from a true local plumbing company.

Both our A/C and furnace were on their last legs, so we decided to call around and get a few quotes. Not only did Godwin offer the most competitive price, they were also able to get us in soonest (surprising, considering how many HVAC services are in high-demand around the start of summer)! Both the gentleman that came out to give us the quote, as well as the guys who actually performed the service were prompt, professional, and friendly! I never felt like we were being upsold, and I was impressed that the guy giving our quote was honest about what would fit our situation the best. He gave us a full breakdown of the all services they could provide, but was upfront when he told us ""You *could* have this huge furnace installed, but for your house, I don't think you'd get much out of it, I think this other one would be a better fit"". The guys who did the actual installing showed up when they said they would, and got straight to work! They replaced both our furnace and AC, hauled the old ones away, and were in and out in about 7 hours! There was zero mess left behind, and I felt great about the work they had done! I would absolutely use Godwin again!
